A reminder alarm sounded on my phone to remind me of my family planning drugs to use. I stood up, went to the kitchen to get water to use it then my phone rang, no other person than Aaron.
“Hi, are you free tomorrow, let's hang out, the usual place we met before. Let's meet by 6:pm. Should I pick you up?”.
“ Yeah I would love to see you again,you don't need to pick me up,I would come as I came before to avoid someone seeing us together and informing Lawson, but 6:00 pm is not okay by me, lets do 4:00pm don't forget I am a married woman and my husband can come home anytime from 6:00pm”.
“Alright, 4:00 pm is a deal”.He accepted and I ended the conversation.
I noticed I had a message on my phone, I clicked to open and see what it was.
MESSAGE
“I know you are still upset for what we did to you,but find it in your heart to forgive us, I hope to see you soon.” from my mother
I hissed as I finished reading it, is this enough to change how I feel about the both of them? I hated them more each time I remember they betrayed me and I have vowed never to have anything to do with them.
I ignored the message as I don't want it to ruin my day, but after some minutes, her calls started coming in which I ignored them all, she stopped when I didn't pick her calls after six unanswered calls.
I met with Aaron the following day and I can say he looks more handsome than before, I don't know what changed in him, he was so delighted to see me again. He gave me a tight hug that took more time than usual. We ate and moved to a cinema to watch a movie. The movie was so emotional that I didn't know when I rested my head on his shoulder.
“I am sorry” I moved my head immediately and I remembered I wasn't supposed to do that.
“ You don't need to be,I should always be a shoulder you can lean on anytime”. He looked straight into my eyes and asked me a question I didn't expect from him.
“Rachel, can't we go back to how we used to be? I blamed myself for letting you marry that guy,you can just divorce him and marry me instead”. I was shocked to see how serious he was, but I can say that he was darn serious.
“ What are you saying Aaron, I am married for crying out loud, I don't wish to divorce him even when I didn't love him, you know what is at stake here”. I tried to stand up but he held my hand.
“ I promise to work hard to pay up your debt,then you can be free to divorce him, I was so stupid for letting you marry that good for nothing man”. He insisted
“ What you are saying is impossible, I think I am beginning to love him, thanks to you guys. I am not willing to divorce my husband. We can only be friends, get that into your skull”. I left him there and went home.
Although, I was happy with the way I spoke to Aaron, he should feel what I felt when I noticed he couldn't fight for the love we shared, he just accepted me to marry someone else without putting up a fight or something, on the other hands, I admit I am feeling something for Lawson, I know it's not love because how would I fall in love with someone who maltreat me In the presence of other people and cheated on me without thinking how I would feel about it, but let me just say BONDING.
Yes you heard me right, I think we are bonding, it isn't supposed to be with the way he treats me but I can't help it.
“ Where are you coming from, you didn't tell me you would be heading out, Caroline told me you have been out for some hours?”
Lawson welcomed me in with a question I didn't plan any answer to at all.
“ I called you several times, you saw my calls but decided not to pick them, why was that”. He asked again
The question caught me unaware, so I was just looking as if I didn't understand what he was saying just so I could program what I would say to defend myself, I heard a resounding slap on my face.
“You are cheating now right? Someone saw you in a restaurant with a guy” he spilled out.
Everywhere was blurred as the slap landed on my cheek,but later regained my vision. I couldn't deny it anymore but I can't admit it as well.
“Yes I was truly in a restaurant, but he is just a friend with nothing attached”. I blurted out.
I picked up my phone to check if I truly missed any calls from him. Behold, I met five missed calls from him but sincerely, I never heard my phone ringing.
“ Firstly, I didn't notice my phone was ringing, and you can't accuse me of cheating, because you saw me with someone. I saw you with girls all the time without getting upset despite the fact that I know you are going out with them”.
“Secondly, I am supposed to be your wife, the way you mistreat me and talk to me anyhow in the presence of people has to stop, I can't take it anymore. We should sort our misunderstanding between us if any”. I can't believe how courageous I am to face him.
“And lastly, I am not a cheat, and please don't try what you tried today again, I will not welcome anymore domestic violence. Because my family owes you, don't make me forget my rights”. I walked out on him to
the bedroom to freshen up and have a change of clothes.
