EMILIA’S POV

The first thing I felt was pain. Not the unbearable type of pain, but a dim heavy pain that sits in my abdomen, making me feel a bit of discomfort but not enough to act.

I tried to move my hand but soon realized that was a mistake because the moment I shifted, a dull ache spread through my veins, causing a weak gasp to escape my lips.

I blinked and slowly opened my eyes.

EMILIA’S POVThe first thing I felt was pain. The whole space was white. White ceilings, white lights, and the annoying peeping of the machine that was making the ache in my head frustratedly worsen. Last I remembered, I was at the office, there was no doubt now that I had been brought to the hospital. My throat tightened almost immediately when that thought settled in my head. I wasn’t worried about my health, no. I was bothered by a far more serious thing. Who brought me here and what do they know? I have been very careful with my body and everything surrounding my illness. This wasn't supposed to happen. I tried to sit up but a tube tugged a

JULIAN'S POVI stood behind my desk, one hand braced against the wooden frame while the other was dragging slowly across my face in an attempt to ease the frustration. It wasn't working. Nothing I did works these days. "This doesn't make any sense," I muttered, more to myself than anyone, even though my assistant was standing merely a few feet away. Another paper slipped out of my hand and fluttered to the desk. "Third investor. Third. All in one week...." A curt knock pulled me back into the room. My eyes traced the sound to the door and I focused on it until whoever was out there realized they weren't welcome and turned around. "Sir, I am trying all I can to make sure...."I cut off my assistant, glaring as though he were the cause of my trouble. "I asked you to confirm the meeting with the foreign investors, not to stand here sounding unsure of yourself." He took longer to respond than my patience could afford, and just when I was about to bounce at him in anger, he opened u

EMILIA’S POVI accepted the ring. Since I met him, he had given me no reason not to want to be with him. I love how he makes me feel, I love how his actions constantly remind me that I am not completely useless and someone out there cherishes me for simply being myself. A series of congratulations had followed me around the office as I went back to work. People give me side eyes, taking note of the massive ring on my finger which wasn’t there when I walked into the conference room. I wasn't even sure how to feel about their reaction but I tried as best as I could to make sure it didn't set me off or distract me too much from what really mattered. My job. I had escaped a vile number of eyes, only to walk into my office to meet Bella standing by the door, her eyes filled with anticipation. “Well, Congratulations.” She rubbed her hands together sbd moved out of the way for me to pass. I dropped my bag on my desk and turned to her. “I have heard that already, is there any other thing

EMILIA'S POVI couldn't pick my mouth off the floor for the longest time, I just kept staring at Theodore in disbelief as we did the paperwork. I just couldn't wrap my head around the fact that he actually assigned me as the CEO of his company when I had been working here for just a few months. Who does that? Not even with my over-the-top hopes and dreams have I ever assumed myself as the CEO of this place. I just wanted a job to keep me busy and pay my bills. “I think it will be best if you take it home with you and read through everything carefully, make sure you are in agreement with it before providing your signature.” That was Theodore speaking, after he placed the final agreement papers for me to sign. Every other thing I have signed just contained a little and straight to the point write-up, on the other hand, are a two-page document that needed attention. I couldn't agree more with him. I nodded, taking the document from his hand and gently placing it into my bag. “I will gi

I’m Not Letting You GoTheodore’s POVShe looked so different. The usual strength in her face had faded, replaced by something softer, something fragile. The hospital gown swallowed her frame, making her look smaller than she really was. Her skin looked pale, and there was a tiredness in her eyes that I had never noticed before. It made something tighten painfully in my chest. How long had she been carrying all of this alone?I let out a quiet breath and reached for her hand, holding it gently. It felt warm, but there was a slight weakness in her grip that didn’t sit right with me.I lifted my other hand and wiped the tears still clinging to her cheeks.“You shouldn’t cry like this,” I said softly. “Not when I’m here.”She sniffed lightly, her eyes still red as she looked at me.“I didn’t think you’d stay,” she admitted in a small voice. My brows pulled together immediately.“Why wouldn’t I?” I asked. “Do you really think I would walk away just because things got difficult?”She hesi

EMILIA'S POV "Aren't you going to make a choice?" I chuckled, enjoying how Theodore had been staring unblinkingly, with all levels of seriousness, at the menu in his hand. For our date, he had chosen a Chinese food place just because I once told him that I had developed a liking for that. Now I know he only brought me here just to please me, because he really was struggling to pick a food. "I am not sure......" He mumbled, his eyes still glued to the menu. "Don't know what most of these foods mean." "How about I help with that?" I placed my hand on the menu and he let go with a sigh of relief. "That will save me a lot of disappointment." "Now you are making me nervous, trusting all of your dinner in my hands." "I trust you have good taste." He winked at me and continued to stare intensely as I chose him. There is a way he looks at me that I can't just pretend not to see. He stares and makes sure I know he is staring, as though he is trying to read my thoughts through my skin. It
