SELENA

I knew something was going wrong.

Selene was acting strangely, as if she were bound in a nightmare and was unable to escape.

All eyes were on us at this point. They all looked at us like we were weird.

Honestly, maybe we were.

I stepped closer to Selene and firmly pulled her in a tight hug.

She struggled. Her hands pushed against my waist. "They tried to hurt Selena. They wanted to kill her. Selena will leave me. She will... die." Her voice broke toward the end, and her body trembled violently.

My chest tightened.

Selene... was traumatized.

Did my escape take so much toll on her?

I bit my lower lip, feeling guilty to the core of my heart.

I tightened my hold on her. "I'm here, Selene. Selena is here." I whispered into her ear.

Her body shuddered, but slowly, she calmed down. "Selena," she called weakly. "Selena?" She seemed to be regaining awareness as her hands held my waist, and she rubbed as if confirming if everything was true.

"Selena is here." She finally whis

SELENA I watched as Selene approached me, but I was too stunned to make a sound. She crouched before me and slowly took my injured hand. Tears fell from her eyes without restraint. "They treated you this badly because of me." She mumbled, pain and fear filling her eyes. But none of this mattered really much. My lips trembled as they finally parted. "You... why do you have my scent?" I stuttered out. The bravery I'd worked hard to cultivate in my mind was thoroughly broken, and I couldn't stop the sweat that formed on my forehead as I waited for Selene to reply to me. Let her not betray me once again, please. Please, moon goddess. Let her not let me down again. She had promised me. She assured me she would never break my trust again... I really wouldn't be able to bear

SELENAMaybe it was a day. A year, or maybe two years? It felt so long, really long, that I couldn't keep counting, but something soon filled my hollowed-out body. I thought I was dead. I'd been running around in the dark for so long, and though, reluctant, I knew there was no way out for me. However, everything changed when the thing filled my body, and my strength slowly returned. "Wake up." A cold voice penetrated deep into my ears. My body jerked, and my eyelashes fluttered open, but instead of the light I expected to see, all I saw was a slightly better darkness. But at least, the darkness here wasn't as scary as the one I saw after I collapsed. The darkness here didn't smell of death and rot... the air was especially relaxing. Huh, relaxing? My eyes darted around, ignoring the people before me, and it settled at the center of the room where the corpse used to be. But there was nothing there at the moment. It was empty and even the smell... it was gone. For a moment, my

SELENAI watched in a daze as King Jared disappeared from the room. I screamed, lunged forward to hold him, but everything was futile. He seemed serious about leaving me with the body...My body slumped on the ground as it finally dawned on me that it seemed to be over. No one could help me now. Unless...I shook my head and wiped the tears off my face. The only way out of this situation would be to confess that I wasn't Selene and let the Alphas confirm the truth, but... how could I do that?Telling the truth was the same as putting Selene in danger. Only heaven knew where Selene was at the moment, but selling her out? I'd rather die than betray my sister. Moreover, looking at the body at the center of the room, I knew Selene wouldn't be able to survive here. She had been weak since we were kids, and she'd been easily scared of things. She would never be able to cope with this sort of torture... But Selene couldn't be a killer. There was no way she would kill someone, and she

SELENAMy heart skipped a beat as I stared into Nick's eyes. His light golden eyes were filled with indifference at the moment. He gazed at me like I was insignificant...Confusion bloomed in my chest. "Why should I come with you?" I could tell something was wrong, so why would I willingly go with him?He even called me Selene. He must have mistaken us again. "Murderer Selene, come with us, please." He said coldly. My eyes widened. Murderer? What did that supply mean?I shook my head. "I think you're mistaken. My... I wouldn't kill someone." I said confidently. Selene could be anything, but she would never be a Murderer. She couldn't even hurt a fly. How could she kill a person? But Nick didn't seem like he wanted to waste time with me. He gestured to the guards behind him and turned around to leave. My eyes narrowed, and I stepped backward, unable to understand what w

SELENAI shook my head at Alpha Drake. "Don't." I mouthed to him. Even though I was unable to see due to being held in Alpha Severin's arm, I could feel the gaze of everyone on us. What would they be thinking at the moment?I wished they would say it out so I could at least hear them. However, I knew that was impossible as every one of them feared the Alphas around me. Alpha Drake's lips parted, seemingly wanting to say something to me, but his eyes narrowed at the hold of Alpha Severin on my waist, and he turned his head away. "I will see you another day, Selena." He said and disappeared from the room. Seeing that, my heart clenched, and my lips quivered. My fingers twitched, wanting to stop him, but I knew I had no right to. Before the triplet Alphas, I hadn't chosen him. I had instead told him to keep quiet...How sad would he have been? How disappointed would he have felt?I removed the hand on my waist and took a step back. "I'm leaving," I said with a bow. Alpha Severin's

SELENEI watched as the Alphas fought over Selena. Alpha Raviel was silent, but his gaze burned more than fire. Alpha Jared looked on, but the storm in his eyes was enough to sweep everyone away. Alpha Severin directly approached, snatching Selena away and pulling her into his arms as if she belonged to him. Alpha Drake growled. His anger blared, showing in his pupils. The four Alphas acted like no one else was there. They acted like the banquet was their backyard and did not even bother to think about the other Alphas in the room. My lips twitched, and a sneer escaped my lips. Did they think Selena belonged to them? In their eyes, they owned Selena, right? How ridiculous. Selena was mine. From the beginning, the moon goddess had given her to me, and though I didn't appreciate her at first, she was still mine. No one... none of them could own her. I stepped forward and took Selena's hand, pulling her toward me. However, Alpha Severin glared at me. His deep blue eyes seeme
