CHAPTER 6

BELLA

The penthouse filled with people after eleven even though his precious schedule said I should’ve been in bed, and he told me that as the host I’d stay on his arm until he decided otherwise. I was in another dress he’d chosen, black again, and his hand found the small of my back the way it always did, and I was still tender from the desk when the elevator opened and a voice I hadn’t heard in two years said my name.

“Bella?”

I turned and it was Marcus, older in the face, same easy smile, and my stomach dropped because the last time I saw him I still lived in a walk-up and thought love was something you could keep if you were careful. “Marcus,” I said. “What are you doing here?”

“A colleague dragged me,” he said, and he looked at Dominic’s hand on me and then back at my face. “You look different. Good different. I’ve been trying to find you since your old number died.”

Dominic’s fingers pressed once against my spine. I kept my voice light because the room was full. “I moved.”

“I can see that,” Marcus said. “Can we talk? Five minutes. I just want to know you’re okay.”

Dominic leaned in so only I could hear him. “Five minutes, Bella. Then you find me.”

He let go and I hated how cold my back felt without him, and Marcus steered me toward the window where the city was all lights and I said, “You shouldn’t be here.”

“I didn’t know it was his place until I was in the elevator,” Marcus said. “Are you with him? Really with him? Because the Bella I knew would’ve called if she was safe.”

“Don’t look at me like that. It’s done. I’m here.”

“That’s not done,” he said. “That’s a crime. Let me help you. We can walk out. My car’s downstairs.”

“You can’t help me,” I said. “And you shouldn’t say that in this room.”

“I cared about you,” Marcus said. “I still do. You disappeared and I thought the worst and now I find you in a dress that costs more than my rent standing next to a man who looks at you like property.”

“He does look at me like that,” I said. “I know what it is.”

“Then leave with me.”

Dominic’s voice cut in from behind me, calm, close. “She’s not leaving with you.”

Marcus straightened. “I was talking to her.”

Dominic said. “Bella. With me.”

I looked at Marcus and I looked at Dominic and I said, “It was just catching up.”

“I heard enough,” Dominic said, and his hand closed around my wrist, not hard enough to make a scene, just sure. “Excuse us.”

He walked me down the hall past guests who didn’t need to know and into the guest bathroom and he locked the door and the music became a muffled throb and I said, “Dominic, he’s an old friend. We were talking.”

“You were talking about walking out,” he said. “You were talking about his car downstairs. Turn around. Hands on the counter.”

“There’s a party outside this door.”

“Then you’ll be quiet,” he said. “Dress up. Now.”

I turned because the lock had already decided this, and he shoved the dress to my waist and dragged my underwear down and I heard his zipper and I whispered, “If I make a sound they’ll know.”

“Then don’t make a sound,” he said, and he pushed into me in one slow deep thrust that stole the air from my lungs. I bit my lip and my hands slipped on the marble and he filled me to the root and held there. “Say his name.”

“Marcus,” I breathed.

“Again.”

“Marcus.”

He pulled back and sank in just as slow, just as deep, and my mouth opened against the mirror. “You won’t remember it when I’m done,” he said. “ You’ll take it and you’ll look at yourself while I fuck the other man out of you.”

“I wasn’t going with him.”

“You let him talk about saving you,” Dominic said, and he started a rhythm that was almost gentle and somehow worse, every stroke dragging along the sore place he’d used on the desk. “No one saves you. I paid. I keep. Say my name.”

“Dominic.”

“Louder isn’t an option,” he said. “Say it into the glass.”

“Dominic,” I whispered, and he bottomed out and I shuddered. He reached around and found my clit and rubbed in slow circles timed to his hips and I was already wet from the day, from the fear of being seen, from him.

“You’re dripping,” he said at my ear. “You stood there catching up and your cunt was still full of me from lunch. Did he know that? Did you tell your ex you spend your days getting fucked on a schedule?”

“No.”

He kept the pace deep and unhurried and the wet sound of it was obscene in the small room and I watched my own face go slack in the mirror. “Who’s in you?” he asked.

“You.”

“Name.”

“Dominic. It’s Dominic.”

“And the man in the other room?”

I tried to say Marcus and the word caught because he drove in and held and ground against that spot until my knees bent. “I can’t think.”

“That’s the point,” he said. “You don’t think about old numbers and cars downstairs. You think about my cock stretching you open while fifty people drink my champagne. Quiet, Bella. If you moan I’ll cover your mouth and I won’t be kind about it.”

A moan still slipped out and his hand clamped over my lips and he fucked me deeper, and I could feel myself getting sloppy, cream gathering and sliding down my thighs. He took his hand away long enough to say, “You’re going to cum on me in this bathroom and you’re going to do it without a sound.”

I shook my head against his palm and he rubbed my clit faster and the orgasm gathered low and mean and I came with my scream trapped in his hand, pulsing around him, squirting in a hot little rush that hit the cabinet and my own legs. He groaned into my hair and didn’t stop.

“Again,” he said. “You’ve got another one. I can feel it. Forget him. Cum for me.”

“Dominic,” I mouthed against his skin. “I can’t. It’s too much. They’ll hear.”

“They’ll hear music,” he said. “They won’t hear how wet you are. Say who you belong to.”

“You. Dominic. I belong to you.”

He hooked my hips back and slammed in as deep as the quiet would allow and I came again, shaking, tears at the corners of my eyes, and this time I did squirt harder, a helpless splash against the marble, and my mind went white and empty. He kept whispering my name and his name and nothing else.

“What was his name?” Dominic asked.

I opened my mouth and for a second there was only the throb of him inside me. “I don’t know. I can’t. Dominic. Please. Just you.”

“Good,” he said, and his control finally frayed. He buried himself and came in heavy pulses, filling me so full I felt it leak around his cock while I was still twitching, and he held me there bent over the sink with his mouth on my shoulder.

He pulled out slow and tucked himself away and used a towel on my thighs like this was tidy, like he hadn’t just fucked me quiet and deep until the other man’s name wouldn’t sit on my tongue. He fixed my dress and turned me to the mirror and wiped the smear from under my eye.

“You’re going back out there,” he said. “You’ll stand with me. If he approaches you again you’ll look at me first.”

“What do I say if he asks if I’m okay?”

“You say you’re fine,” Dominic said. “And it’ll be true enough, because you just came twice in my bathroom and you can’t remember the name you were catching up with.”

He unlocked the door. The music rushed back in. His hand returned to the small of my back like it had never left, and we walked into the party with his cum still sliding between my legs and the other man’s name gone somewhere I couldn’t reach even if I wanted it.

CHAPTER 7BELLAHe took me to bed after the last guest left and the penthouse went quiet again, and he didn’t give me the guest room or the rules or a speech. He sat back against the headboard bare and already hard and he pulled me into his lap and I straddled him because my body knew the shape of this now, and I kissed him before he could tell me to.The kiss was deep and messy and I made a sound into his mouth when his hands gripped my ass and dragged me along his cock. I reached between us and lined him up and sank down in one slow drop that made both of us break the kiss to breathe.“Fuck,” I whispered. “You’re so deep like this.”“Then move,” Dominic said. “Ride me. I want to watch you bounce.”I put my hands on his chest and lifted and dropped and the wet slide of it punched a moan out of me. I did it again, faster, and my ass slapped down on his thighs and he cursed and grabbed my hips.“Harder,” he said. “You can take it. You’ve been taking it all day. Show me.”I rode him har

CHAPTER 5BELLAHe told me the next morning while he poured coffee like the night before hadn’t left me walking sore and full of him. “From today you’re on a schedule,” Dominic said. “A soon-to-be-wife schedule.”Later, he dragged me down to the gym.The gym was a private floor in the building with glass and machines that looked like they’d never met sweat before me. He put me on a treadmill and stood where he could see my face and I said, “I don’t work out for men who keep me.”“You work out so you can keep up,” he said. “Forty minutes. Don’t drop the pace to spite me.”“What happens if I do?”“You find out at lunch.”I dropped the pace at minute twenty because I wanted to see if the threat held up. He didn’t raise his voice. He just reached over and stopped the machine and said, “Shoes off. Office. Now.”“It’s not one o’clock.”“It is now,” he said. “You broke the morning. We don’t wait for the calendar to catch up.”His office was high and quiet and the desk was a dark slab of wood

CHAPTER 4BELLAI stared at him. “Here?”“Here,” he said. “You can’t just—”“I can,” he said, quiet as ever. “You came on my tongue twenty minutes ago. Now you’re going to take me down your throat and you’re going to look at me while you do it. Knees, Bella.”I went down.“Open.”I opened my mouth and he unzipped. He was already hard and heavy and he rubbed the head over my lower lip.“Wrap your hand around the base. Good. Now take what you can.”I took him in and he was thick and hot. My jaw stretched. He exhaled like he’d been holding that breath since the gala. “That’s it,” he said. “Eyes up. Don’t hide in the work.”I looked up and he pushed deeper and I gagged and my eyes watered and he pulled back just enough for me to drag air in. “I can’t,” I said, voice wrecked already.“You can,” he said. “Again.”I took him again and he threaded his fingers into my hair, not yanking, just holding me where he wanted me, and he started to move in short strokes that hit the back of my throat.

CHAPTER 3BELLA“We’re going to a charity gala tonight,” Dominic said, and he didn’t look up from his coffee when he said it. “You’ll be ready at seven.”I set my fork down. “I’m not going to a gala with you.”“You are.”“I don’t have a dress. I don’t know those people. I don’t want to stand next to you and smile like I belong on your arm.”“You’ll have a dress,” he said. “People there already know better than to ask questions I haven’t invited. And you don’t have to smile. You only have to stay where I put you.”I leaned forward. “Why would you take me out? So everyone can see what you bought?”“So everyone can see what’s mine,” he said. “There’s a difference.”“Not from where I’m sitting.”He finally looked at me and his voice stayed level. “Makeup artists will be here at four. They’re expensive and they’re discreet and they’ll make you look like you walked out of a magazine.”“And if I refuse?”“Then I’ll dress you myself.” he said. “Choose the version you can stand.”I wanted to t

CHAPTER 2BELLA I woke up in a bed that was too big and too soft and for a second I forgot where I was, and then the glass wall and the city and the quiet of a place that didn’t smell like my old kitchen all came back at once and I sat up so fast my head spun. My clothes from last night were gone and I was in a thin white shirt that wasn’t mine. I got out of the bed and went straight to the door. The handle turned. The door opened onto the same wide living room from last night, all marble and dark wood and morning light, and Dominic was already there in a black shirt with the sleeves rolled, standing by the table like he’d been waiting for me to wake up and come looking for a way out.“Good morning, Bella,” he said, and he still didn’t raise his voice.I stopped in the doorway and I pulled the shirt down over my thighs and I said, “Where are my clothes?”“Gone,” he said. “You’ll wear what I put out for you.”“That’s not a rule I agreed to.”“You didn’t agree to any of this,” he said.
