The ride home was strained, and the only thing said was when I gave her directions back to the house. Once the car was parked, Dominique got out and handed me the key. We went in, and she plugged in the refrigerator and put the things she had bought into it. She put the plates and cups into the cabinet. I watched her fix her food, and we sat at the table.
