"Sir Nelson?" I asked, addressing the young woman in the black uniform with a white collar. From her appearance, I could tell she worked here in the mansion. But why did she call him 'Sir Nelson'? And why did she seem to know him?

Though I was confused, I slowly approached the maid, who was now smiling and standing by the door, waiting for me to exit.

"Yes, Ms. Dorry. Sir Nelson asked me to fetch you. He’s waiting for you in the garden," she answered politely, matching her response with a slow walk as she led me down the hallway. Her heels clicked with each step. But then, I couldn't help but laugh bitterly, glancing back at the maid, who turned her head slightly to look at me with a smile.

To be honest, I had so many questions I wanted to ask her, but I was hesitant. I didn't want her to think I was overly interested in Sir Nelson’s life—especially when he was supposedly waiting for me in the garden while probably involved with another woman. Maybe he planned to make me an observer o

It was almost nine in the evening, and Nelson still hadn’t shown up—despite his promise to pick me up at Vianna May’s flower shop. And yes, even if I was still upset with him, I couldn’t deny the worry slowly building up inside me. There was a dull ache in my chest. I knew it might seem petty, but after our misunderstanding, a simple promise like this meant more to me than I cared to admit.“Hey, Dorry!” Vianna May nudged me, glancing down at her phone.I gave her a small, tight smile as she sat beside me.“Are you thinking about Nelson?” she asked with a teasing grin, though I could sense a bit of concern behind it.I had already told her about our misunderstanding. What she didn’t know, however, was that there was a deeper reason why I was still hesitant to let Nelson back into my life.“It’s getting late, Dorry,” she said softly. “It might be better to wait for Nelson at our house instead. Diego’s already waiting for me, and I’m sure Violy is tired, too. If Nelson doesn’t show up,

Aunt Norma stood up with her head held high, but no matter how composed she tried to appear, the fury in her eyes betrayed her unease. Her steps were slow and deliberate—and when she finally reached the grand door, she turned and cast one last deadly glare. Her eyes burned with defeat and seething rage, her pride refusing to crumble completely. The sharp click of her heels against the marble floor echoed through the room — the sound of her bitter retreat.I couldn’t help but smile.Anyone watching her would probably think she still had the upper hand — like she was still the one calling the shots, still the most powerful person in the room. But I knew better. That was the look of a woman who had just lost control — and the fire in her eyes wasn’t just anger. It was a warning. A promise of revenge. I needed to stay sharp. After Aunt Norma’s quiet, heavy departure, the rest followed like drenched chicks trailing after their mother hen. Shoulders hunched, heads bowed, not one of them cou

I walked further into the room, every step calculated — deliberate — and I could feel every pair of eyes following me, especially my ever-so-fake aunt, whose plastic smile could rival anyone's.“I’m here to thank you,” I began, letting my words hang in the air as I gave her a polite, almost sweet smile. Slowly, I watched her smile fade, her eyes narrowing as realization crept in. That look of dawning horror on her face? Priceless. It only fueled me more.Without missing a beat, I casually draped an arm over her stiff shoulders, pretending affection. My fingers pressed into the tense muscles at the back of her neck — just hard enough to remind her of exactly who she was dealing with.“Thank you for...” I said in a low voice — loud enough for everyone in the room to hear. And as I spoke, I threw sharp, knowing glances at the board members — these shameless people who dared conspire with my greedy aunt.“For what?” she asked, her voice noticeably less confident now. I could see it — the

“Don’t you understand? You are not allowed to get in! Leave now!” my aunt’s secretary snapped arrogantly, blocking the way between me and Jac.I casually poked a finger into my ear. Her shrill voice was starting to give me a headache — it was so high-pitched I felt like I was going deaf.“You should be the one getting out of our way!” Jac growled, barely holding himself back from shutting her mouth permanently — the way her lips kept moving nonstop like a goat chewing grass was seriously getting on his nerves.“And who do you think you are to order me around? You don’t pay my salary,” she spat, jabbing her finger at Jac’s chest before turning her sharp glare on me. She crossed her arms and gave me the nastiest, most wicked smile I’d ever seen.“And you — who do you think you are to give me orders? Aren’t you just the product of your mother’s sin? From that slut of a mother of yours?”My fist clenched tightly. I almost lost it right then and there. My hand was already in the air, ready

“Sir, I understand how you’re feeling right now. But sir, please remember—you’re not alone anymore. You have a wife now, someone you need to protect.”I did a double take. In the heat of my anger, I completely forgot about Dorry — the woman I needed to protect, especially from my aunt. She could become a target of the people trying to hurt me — and I couldn’t let that happen. I wouldn’t allow anyone to harm her. I wouldn’t let her be taken away from me like my parents were.“Jac, do you still have contacts from your old team?”Jac nodded just as we exited the narrow alley we’d squeezed into. He was fully alert again.“I’ll take care of contacting them, sir. They’ve been waiting for my call anyway,” he answered after a moment. We were now back on a main road, surrounded by other cars, which only heightened my alertness. No matter how much was running through my mind. My thoughts were a mess from everything that had happened, and my heart wouldn’t stop pounding in my chest. All I wanted

Like earlier, when I left the house, I walked out of Atty. Larson’s office, in a daze.Another puzzle was completed, but it left me with even more questions instead of answers.“Sir Nelson.” Jac gave my shoulder a light tap as we stepped inside the elevator. “Don’t be surprised why your grandfather gave Ms. Dorry company shares. It’s because he knows what happened between the two of you. He knows that Dorry was the woman you loved the most… but you hurt her deeply — and you didn’t even realize it.”I let out a dry, half-hearted laugh. I didn’t really care who my grandfather gave shares to—but what was his reason? Was that some sort of payment — a way to convince Dorry’s family to agree to our marriage? And did Dorry even know about the shares? Did she know the real reason behind our arranged marriage? This is driving me crazy. My head is a mess again. How am I supposed to focus? How can I stop my aunt and her evil plans if my mind is filled with nothing but questions? This is giving m
