Chapter 2

작가: Snail
My face turned pale as I stood there quietly. I wanted to tell her that this time, I wouldn’t fight her anymore. If she wanted the Luna position, I would willingly give it to her.

However, before I could say anything, the scent of cedarwood mixed with blood drifted closer. My breathing instinctively stopped. Then, I slowly looked up at the man who had once consumed my every thought.

Xavier didn’t even spare me a glance. Instead, he walked straight to Winnie, his voice carrying a trace of reproach.

“You’re injured. You need to return to the tent immediately.”

The two of them stood close together, looking perfectly matched. I couldn’t bear to watch any longer, so I turned to leave.

“Agnes. Come here.” Xavier’s cold voice sounded behind me, firm and unquestionable.

My body stiffened, and I turned back instinctively. At some point, Winnie had left. Xavier wiped the blood from his arm before speaking to me flatly.

“Stay by my side until the remaining wild werewolves are dealt with.” After a brief pause, he added, “And stop causing more trouble for me.”

Pain spread through my chest. In my previous life, I did cause him endless trouble. In the end, I’d forced him into forming a mate bond he never wanted.

“There’s no need.” I fought back my tears as I spoke. “You don’t have to look after me. I can protect myself.”

Xavier frowned, his cold eyes sweeping over me. Then, he stepped closer. The oppressive aura unique to a high-ranking bloodline pressed heavily against me.

“Protect yourself?” He repeated the words, his tone edged with mockery. “Since when did you start saying things like that, Agnes? If you were truly capable of protecting yourself, you wouldn’t wander into dangerous hunting grounds and wait for others to clean up after you.”

The color slowly drained from my face.

“And another thing.” His voice turned even colder as he added, “Don’t think sending me to save Winnie will make me see you differently. Those little games you play to get my attention–”

He leaned down slightly, his icy breath brushing against my ear.

“They don’t work on me.”

I froze. So that was how he saw me. He thought my sudden retreat was just another trick to attract his attention differently.

Tears pooled in my eyes, but I stubbornly lifted my chin.

“Don’t worry. This time, I won’t cling to you anymore. Not ever again.”

For a brief moment, Xavier’s gaze faltered, but it quickly turned cold again. His next words hurt even more.

“Good. Agnes, you’re only a low-ranking Omega. Stop dreaming about things that were never meant to belong to you. You were never going to be the future Luna of the Frostmoon Pack.”

In that instant, it felt like all the strength had been ripped from my body. The pain in my chest was so sharp I could barely breathe.

Quietly, I answered, “Okay.”

By the time I returned to the family estate, night had fallen. Mom was waiting for me in the main hall. When she saw the empty look on my face, she let out a soft sigh.

“This is about Xavier again, isn’t it?”

I stayed silent.

She gently rubbed my back, sorrow filling her voice. “My precious daughter, why are you so obsessed with him? He’s the Alpha heir of the Frostmoon Pack, while you’re only an Omega. No matter how noble our family is, you’ll never truly be his equal.

“There are so many others asking for your hand. Even Kane Hawthorne, the eldest son of the Northern Tundra Lord, has sent several formal proposals. He’s the youngest wolf cavalry commander in the North. He respects you, admires you, and he’s willing to give you the honor a mate deserves. If you agreed, this would be an excellent match. So why cling to Xavier so stubbornly?”

Like always, Mom tried to persuade me to give up on him. In the past, I would’ve argued fiercely with her and insisted that Xavier was the strongest werewolf alive, that no one could ever compare to him.

However, this time, I simply lowered my eyes and said softly, “Okay. I’ll agree to it.”

Mom froze in shock. Then, her eyes reddened, as though a weight had finally lifted from her shoulders. She held my hands tightly.

“That’s wonderful, my child. You’ve finally come to your senses. This is perfect timing, too. Three days from now, Kane will be visiting our pack with his father. You can discuss the mate bond ceremony then.”

I looked at the gold-embossed proposal letter in front of me and smiled faintly. Three days later, I would leave for good and never see Xavier again.

  • Never Let You Go   Chapter 9

That day, the Northern frontier was struck by a once-in-a-century blizzard, with winds that cut like knives. Biting wind whipped snowflakes against him, covering his hair and shoulders in thick layers of frost. The once-mighty Wolf King, who had always stood above all others, now looked like a lost lone wolf—worn down and stripped of all his former sharpness. When the servants brought the news to me, I felt nothing. I merely found it absurd. It had only been a few months separated by a few borders. The man who once looked at me with undisguised disgust, who found even my presence repulsive, and who trampled my sincere feelings underfoot without a second thought, had now humbled himself completely, kneeling for three days and three nights in this biting cold, just to see me.I sent word outside the city walls, my tone cold and firm. “I have formed a mate bond with Kane. I don’t want to see him. From this day on, he and I are over.”However, Xavier refused to leave. He stayed at the g

  • Never Let You Go   Chapter 8

After Xavier was driven out of the Sullivan family estate, he returned to Moonshadow Estate like a soulless shell, numb to everything around him.Instead of heading to the main hall, he instinctively walked toward the small side courtyard where I used to live. Some part of him still believed I would be waiting there. He raised his hand and pushed open the worn wooden door. Seeing the cramped, low-ceilinged room inside, he felt a sharp pang in his heart. How had he never noticed it before? I had lived in such a humble place for so long, yet I had never uttered a single complaint.Xavier slid down the wall and sat on the floor. Memories of the past flooded back in an instant. He recalled casually giving me a string of wind chimes made out of beast bones. I had been so happy that I jumped for joy. However, back then, he hadn’t cared. He simply looked at me with a sneer and gave me a cold, dismissive glance. He recalled my birthday, when he gave me a Moonlight Stone pendant—his first

The next morning, Xavier quickly treated his injuries. Without delay, he took the prepared proposal and rushed straight to the Sullivan estate.Winnie was bored out of her mind, but when she heard that Xavier had arrived, her eyes immediately lit up.“He must be here to form a mate bond with me.” She smoothed her hair, unable to hide her pride. “I told you he was going to come around and win me back.”She hurried out to meet him, wearing a bright smile.“Xavier, your injuries haven’t healed yet. Why did you come personally?”However, Xavier didn’t even spare her a glance. He walked straight into the main hall.Winnie followed behind him, feeling secretly pleased with herself. She was already planning how she should appear properly reserved in front of Mother later.Mother stepped out from inside the hall. Her expression was cold as she looked at Xavier. She asked plainly, “What brings you here, Lord Xavier?”Xavier took out the proposal contract from his chest and handed it ov

However, he didn’t have to wait long to understand the answer. That night, a piercing, anguished howl suddenly echoed outside the estate. A large pack of rogue wolves launched a surprise attack on Moonshadow Estate under the cover of darkness. In an instant, the entire estate fell into chaos.Xavier shot up from bed. In the dark, his silver wolf eyes gleamed with an almost blinding intensity. His Alpha instincts kicked in immediately, but his first reaction was not to protect Winnie in the adjacent courtyard. Instead, he ran straight toward the western annex.Only one thought filled his mind: I was there, and as a low-ranking she-wolf, I must be terrified. He must quickly shield me behind him.He slammed open the wooden door of the western annex, only to find that the room inside was empty. Nothing was there. He froze, and only then did he realize that I was already gone.A guard rushed up behind him, out of breath. “The western annex is empty. Miss Agnes has–”“I know.” Xavier’s

In the days that followed, Xavier became increasingly volatile. Even the servants around him could feel the shift in his temper. When they moved through the hall, he would snap at them without warning. “If you have nothing to do, go back to your rooms. Do you need to wander in front of me all the time? Are you trying to make me more irritated?”At mealtimes, even the food on the table became a source of frustration.“Can’t you change the menu? Why is it always grilled pork chops?”The servant kept their head lowered, feeling deeply aggrieved, and muttered under their breath, “We’ve only had it once this week…”Even when noble daughters came to visit the estate, just being led into the hall was enough to put him in a foul mood. Now, the moment he caught the scent of any unfamiliar Omega, an inexplicable irritation would overcome him.He didn’t understand why. All he knew was that he had long grown used to the warm, sweet scent of jasmine that lingered around me, though he had neve

  • Never Let You Go   Chapter 4

Shocked and overwhelmed, Winnie was kept at Moonshadow Estate under Xavier’s direct orders. He specifically instructed the servants that no werewolves were allowed to approach her, ensuring she could rest and recover in peace. As for himself, he also remained in his quarters to recover from the injury on his hand.On the first day, he asked the servant, “Where is Agnes? Has she admitted her mistake yet?”The servant lowered his head respectfully and replied, “Miss Agnes is on her knees outside the estate. She’s been covered by wind and snow. Would you like us to bring her inside?”A faint look of satisfaction appeared on Xavier’s face, but his voice remained cold as he said, “No need. Keep her on her knees.”After a pause, he added, “Keep her out there for one more night before you bring her in… Also, tell the kitchen to prepare hot water and have the cooks prepare a stew.”The next morning, Xavier didn’t even consider his own unhealed injury. The first thing he did was summon a s
