Chapter 3

작가: Snail
The next morning, warriors from the Frostmoon Pack arrived at the Sullivan family estate.

The leading attendant bowed slightly to my mother.

“The Alpha heir’s old injury flared up again last night. The silver-thorn toxin has spread into his blood and bones. He needs to recover in isolation. Miss Winnie was frightened during the Moon Hunt. Lord Xavier is worried she may suffer nightmares, so he has personally seen to it for her to recover at Moonshadow Estate.”

The attendant paused briefly, then added, “Lord Xavier also mentioned that if Miss Agnes wants, she may come as well.”

The hall fell silent for a moment, and Mom’s face paled slightly. Everyone in the pack knew Moonshadow Estate was Xavier’s private territory. No outsiders were ever allowed to enter, yet he had sent men to escort Winnie there. That kind of favoritism was impossible to hide.

Strangely, I didn’t feel the same jealousy I once would have. All I felt was exhaustion.

Mom stepped forward, placing herself in front of me with a polite smile.

“Please send our regards to Lord Xavier. Agnes is not in a suitable condition to–”

I tugged lightly at her sleeve, cutting her off. “It’s fine. I should go.”

It was time to retrieve my personal belongings from Moonshadow Estate anyway, especially that crescent-shaped ring. I had to take it back because after this, I would never set foot there again.

Before Father died, he left me that crescent ring carrying his scent, and I had always kept it close, as if he were still with me. During the last Moon Hunt, worried it might get lost, I left it safely in Moonshadow Estate. So, no matter what, I had to go back and retrieve everything I left there.

Moonshadow Estate was exactly the same as I remembered. It was familiar enough to make my eyes sting.

Instead of heading to the main hall, I went straight to my room. It was tucked away in the far corner of the western annex—small, dim, and narrow. The windows faced the shadow side of the estate, and in winter, it felt like an ice cellar. Yet, this unwanted room was one I had begged Xavier for a long time before he finally allowed me to stay in. Meanwhile, Winnie needed to do nothing at all to be granted the most luxurious room in the entire estate.

I let out a self-mocking smile and pushed open the old wooden door. The next second, I froze. The wooden box containing my crescent ring was gone. The room was in disarray, as if it had been hastily searched. More than half of my belongings were missing.

My breathing hitched instantly. I ran, faster than I ever had, following the strongest trace of Father’s scent. My instincts locked onto Winnie standing by the frozen lake. I narrowed my eyes, meeting her gaze from a hundred meters away. A smug smile curled on her lips, and before my horrified eyes, she deliberately tossed the crescent ring into the icy lake.

“No!” My scream was raw and desperate.

Just as I reached her, Xavier’s terrifying aura slammed down on me. Like a broken kite snapped from its string, I was thrown backward and crashed hard onto the ice.

Xavier walked over slowly. When he saw the blood I coughed up, panic flickered in his eyes. However, it disappeared almost immediately.

His voice turned cold. “You scared Winnie.”

I struggled to my feet, forcing myself toward the frozen lake. Father’s scent was fading. It felt like something inside me was being torn apart, severing the last connection I had to him. Maybe my expression was too terrifying, because Winnie suddenly screamed and collapsed to the ground.

Xavier’s voice came from behind me again, soft but merciless.

“Throw her out. Without my permission, Agnes is never to step foot in Moonshadow Estate again.”

“No! Xavier, let me take the ring!”

I fought, begged, and struggled. However, what came back was expulsion. I knelt outside the estate gates for a full day and night until my strength finally gave out.

Mother came personally to take me home.

“My dear child, I’m sorry this happened.”

“I’m fine, Mom. After I leave, please take care of yourself.”

I left without hesitation. From that moment on, Xavier and I would never meet each other again.

  • Never Let You Go   Chapter 9

That day, the Northern frontier was struck by a once-in-a-century blizzard, with winds that cut like knives. Biting wind whipped snowflakes against him, covering his hair and shoulders in thick layers of frost. The once-mighty Wolf King, who had always stood above all others, now looked like a lost lone wolf—worn down and stripped of all his former sharpness. When the servants brought the news to me, I felt nothing. I merely found it absurd. It had only been a few months separated by a few borders. The man who once looked at me with undisguised disgust, who found even my presence repulsive, and who trampled my sincere feelings underfoot without a second thought, had now humbled himself completely, kneeling for three days and three nights in this biting cold, just to see me.I sent word outside the city walls, my tone cold and firm. “I have formed a mate bond with Kane. I don’t want to see him. From this day on, he and I are over.”However, Xavier refused to leave. He stayed at the g

After Xavier was driven out of the Sullivan family estate, he returned to Moonshadow Estate like a soulless shell, numb to everything around him.Instead of heading to the main hall, he instinctively walked toward the small side courtyard where I used to live. Some part of him still believed I would be waiting there. He raised his hand and pushed open the worn wooden door. Seeing the cramped, low-ceilinged room inside, he felt a sharp pang in his heart. How had he never noticed it before? I had lived in such a humble place for so long, yet I had never uttered a single complaint.Xavier slid down the wall and sat on the floor. Memories of the past flooded back in an instant. He recalled casually giving me a string of wind chimes made out of beast bones. I had been so happy that I jumped for joy. However, back then, he hadn’t cared. He simply looked at me with a sneer and gave me a cold, dismissive glance. He recalled my birthday, when he gave me a Moonlight Stone pendant—his first

The next morning, Xavier quickly treated his injuries. Without delay, he took the prepared proposal and rushed straight to the Sullivan estate.Winnie was bored out of her mind, but when she heard that Xavier had arrived, her eyes immediately lit up.“He must be here to form a mate bond with me.” She smoothed her hair, unable to hide her pride. “I told you he was going to come around and win me back.”She hurried out to meet him, wearing a bright smile.“Xavier, your injuries haven’t healed yet. Why did you come personally?”However, Xavier didn’t even spare her a glance. He walked straight into the main hall.Winnie followed behind him, feeling secretly pleased with herself. She was already planning how she should appear properly reserved in front of Mother later.Mother stepped out from inside the hall. Her expression was cold as she looked at Xavier. She asked plainly, “What brings you here, Lord Xavier?”Xavier took out the proposal contract from his chest and handed it ov

However, he didn’t have to wait long to understand the answer. That night, a piercing, anguished howl suddenly echoed outside the estate. A large pack of rogue wolves launched a surprise attack on Moonshadow Estate under the cover of darkness. In an instant, the entire estate fell into chaos.Xavier shot up from bed. In the dark, his silver wolf eyes gleamed with an almost blinding intensity. His Alpha instincts kicked in immediately, but his first reaction was not to protect Winnie in the adjacent courtyard. Instead, he ran straight toward the western annex.Only one thought filled his mind: I was there, and as a low-ranking she-wolf, I must be terrified. He must quickly shield me behind him.He slammed open the wooden door of the western annex, only to find that the room inside was empty. Nothing was there. He froze, and only then did he realize that I was already gone.A guard rushed up behind him, out of breath. “The western annex is empty. Miss Agnes has–”“I know.” Xavier’s

In the days that followed, Xavier became increasingly volatile. Even the servants around him could feel the shift in his temper. When they moved through the hall, he would snap at them without warning. “If you have nothing to do, go back to your rooms. Do you need to wander in front of me all the time? Are you trying to make me more irritated?”At mealtimes, even the food on the table became a source of frustration.“Can’t you change the menu? Why is it always grilled pork chops?”The servant kept their head lowered, feeling deeply aggrieved, and muttered under their breath, “We’ve only had it once this week…”Even when noble daughters came to visit the estate, just being led into the hall was enough to put him in a foul mood. Now, the moment he caught the scent of any unfamiliar Omega, an inexplicable irritation would overcome him.He didn’t understand why. All he knew was that he had long grown used to the warm, sweet scent of jasmine that lingered around me, though he had neve

Shocked and overwhelmed, Winnie was kept at Moonshadow Estate under Xavier’s direct orders. He specifically instructed the servants that no werewolves were allowed to approach her, ensuring she could rest and recover in peace. As for himself, he also remained in his quarters to recover from the injury on his hand.On the first day, he asked the servant, “Where is Agnes? Has she admitted her mistake yet?”The servant lowered his head respectfully and replied, “Miss Agnes is on her knees outside the estate. She’s been covered by wind and snow. Would you like us to bring her inside?”A faint look of satisfaction appeared on Xavier’s face, but his voice remained cold as he said, “No need. Keep her on her knees.”After a pause, he added, “Keep her out there for one more night before you bring her in… Also, tell the kitchen to prepare hot water and have the cooks prepare a stew.”The next morning, Xavier didn’t even consider his own unhealed injury. The first thing he did was summon a s
