I woke up early to send money to my parents. After that, I did some laundry and got ready for work—hopefully, I wouldn’t run into that annoying guy today.

“Hello, Nay. I’ve sent you some money already,” I told my mother over the phone.

“Anak, thank you so much. You didn’t have to. You should’ve just saved that money for yourself. We’re okay here—your dad and siblings too,” my mom replied.

“It’s okay, Nay. I still have to finish doing my laundry and then head to work. Don’t worry, I’ll work hard and marry a rich man someday, so I can give you everything you deserve. I hate seeing you all struggle,” I said to my beautiful mother.

“You don’t need to do that, anak. Your dad and I are content. Just be careful over there, okay? We’re so far away from you,” my mom reminded me gently.

“Yes, Nay...” we said goodbye and ended the call.

“Washing clothes is so tiring. What time is it?” I looked at the clock. “Oh no, it’s almost three.”

I quickly took a bath to get ready for work.

When I arrived at the casino, of course, that nuisance Gabriel wouldn’t leave me alone.

“Hello, Miss Beautiful! Did I surprise you?” he asked smugly.

“You’re here again—and why would I be surprised?” I replied to this arrogant man.

“You two act like you've known each other for years, when you just met yesterday,” my boss teased.

“Tito, look at your cashier—she’s so rude. She should be nice to the guests here,” Gabriel said with a fake complaint to his uncle.

Then suddenly, a beautiful woman approached Gabriel and kissed him on the cheek.

“Gabriel! So this is where you are,” the woman said.

“Dianne! Wow, you’re still as beautiful as ever,” Gabriel smiled, holding her hand.

“The casino is really your life now, huh?”

“Not really. I just come by sometimes.”

I don’t know why, but hearing them talk like that in front of me irritated me.

“Dianne, you’re here! Are you going to play?” my boss asked her.

“No, I’m just here to watch. Since my longtime crush is also here,” she replied.

“Me? Your longtime crush? That still a thing?”

“It was, back in college. You just never noticed me,” she smiled.

I wanted to tell the two of them to go somewhere else and flirt.

“Come on, let’s play,” Gabriel said, wrapping an arm around her waist.

“That Gabriel guy seems like a playboy… Just saying,” my co-worker whispered.

“Not seems—he is one. You can tell,” I replied, still glancing at them from afar, even though I told myself I didn’t care what they were to each other. But I couldn’t deny that I felt annoyed.

Gabriel called out to me again, obviously just to tease me. And honestly, in fairness… he was very good-looking—like everything I’d ever wanted in a guy. Rich, handsome… but a casino addict, and clearly a womanizer.

“Hey, Gabriel’s been calling you for a while now,” my coworker said.

“Me? Why?” I asked, puzzled.

“I don’t know. Just go over there.”

“Ugh, seriously...” I muttered as I walked over to Gabriel.

“Samantha, come here,” he said.

I had no choice but to walk closer.

“Closer,” he insisted.

“We’re ordering drinks. She wants a glass of wine, and I’ll just have a beer,” he said mockingly.

“All that just to make me come over?” I mumbled under my breath.

“Did you say something?” he asked.

“Nope!” I quickly replied and went to prepare their drinks.

“You deliver it. I’m so annoyed with that guy,” I told my coworker.

“No can do. Can’t you see I’m assisting other guests?” she refused.

I had no choice but to serve their drinks myself. From a distance, I already noticed Gabriel holding the woman’s hand. When I handed them their drinks, I accidentally spilled the wine on her dress—and she was furious.

“Sorry, ma’am! I didn’t mean to,” I said sincerely.

“Do you even realize how expensive this dress is? You’re too distracted at work!” she yelled, wiping the stain from her dress and skirt.

“I’ll get a new one for you. Here’s your drink, sir. I’ll bring a replacement for you, ma’am.”

“Go. Hurry!”

As I walked away, I heard her say loudly—

“She’s so dumb. Is she new or just totally clueless?”

I let out a deep sigh, trying not to explode.

“Ma’am, here’s your new drink.”

“Fine. Thanks. Now go away.”

I took my tray and walked off.

“What a snob. She acts like she’s someone important,” I muttered to my coworker.

“They’re perfect for each other—bad boy and bad girl. But I noticed something… Gabriel seems to enjoy teasing you. I think he likes you,” she said.

“Shh! He might hear us,” I warned her.

It didn’t take long before the woman looked tipsy. I kept watching them. Then, she leaned on Gabriel and kissed him on the cheek.

“That’s enough, Dianne. I’ll take you home,” he said gently.

“Nooo, let’s drink more, Gabriel. Please…”

“No, that’s enough. Let’s get you to your car.”

“I can’t drive. Take me to my condo. Please…” she begged.

“Oh wow. ‘I can’t drive…’ Please…” I mocked under my breath. “Pretending to be drunk, huh.”

“Why do you seem upset?” my coworker teased.

“Me? Upset? No way.”

“Samantha, I’ll take my friend home, okay?” Gabriel told me.

Why did he even have to tell me? It’s not like I care what they do.

Gabriel did take Dianne to her car. She kept hugging him along the way.

“Dianne, next time don’t drink so much if you can’t handle it,” Gabriel said.

“Gabriel, kiss me,” she whispered.

“You’re drunk. Just go to sleep, Dianne.”

“No, Gabriel. Kiss me. After all this time, you still don’t like me?” she asked, her hands roaming his chest and trying to unbutton his shirt.

“Dianne, please don’t do this. You’re drunk,” he said firmly.

“Come on, kiss me.”

Gabriel gave in and kissed her.

They reached her condo and continued kissing until they were inside. Dianne took off his shirt, and Gabriel undressed her as well. He kissed her down her chest, but suddenly—Samantha came into his mind.

“I’m sorry, Dianne. I have to go.”

“What!?”

“I said I have to go.”

“Is it because of that girl?” she asked angrily.

“I’m leaving. Lock your door. Bye.”

“Unbelievable, Gabriel! You haven’t changed one bit!”

“Mom, it hurts so much,” I cried while holding my mother’s hand.“Child, I can’t go in with you anymore. You can do this. I went through the same thing when I gave birth to you. Be strong,” she encouraged.“Okay, Mom,” I replied, and then they brought me into the delivery room. After three hours, I gave birth to mine and Gabriel’s daughter. I lost consciousness after delivering our baby girl.“Doctor, how is my daughter?” my mother asked the doctor.“Ah, are you the patient’s mother? She’s stable now. Where is the baby’s father?”“He’s gone, doctor. He left them,” my mother responded.“I see. Then please go inside, Ma’am, so someone can assist the patient.”“How are you, child?” my mother asked me, full of concern.“I’m okay, Mom, but giving birth really hurts.”“Here’s your baby, Ma’am,” said the nurse, carrying my child.“She’s so beautiful, she looks just like you,” said my mother.“Really, Mom?” I smiled as she held the baby.“My grandchild is so lovely. “Where could you be now, Gabriel?” I asked myself, still completely confused.“Samantha, stop thinking about Gabriel. Edward’s right there—he’s handsome too. That Gabriel, I thought he was a good guy!” Erika said.“Erika, can you watch over things for a bit? I feel dizzy.”“You’re really pale, Samantha. Have you eaten yet? I brought some pakbet with me.”“No, I don’t want any. I feel nauseous—maybe it’s just my acidity.”“It might be something else. Why don’t you get a checkup? I’ll come with you.”“No need, I’ll go alone. Just stay here.”“Okay, I’ll let the boss know. Text me the result, okay?”“Alright, Erika. Thanks so much for always being there for me.”Even though I was feeling dizzy, I still forced myself to go see a doctor.“Good morning, doc.”“Good morning. What seems to be the problem, ma’am?”“Doc, I’ve been feeling dizzy and nauseous for two weeks now.”“Let’s take a look. Come in, we’ll run some tests.”“There’s no major issue, ma’am. But the reason you feel dizzy and n

“I’ll go book a flight first, Mama.”“Alright, your dad and I will be waiting here, Gabriel,” she said. He immediately told his cousin what happened.“Alexa, Dad had a heart attack. I need to go back to America.”“What? How’s Uncle doing?”“Dad’s in critical condition. Alexa, please don’t tell anyone I’m leaving. Not even Samantha.”“Okay, you have my word.”From that day on, Gabriel never showed up at the casino again.“Erika, have you seen Gabriel?” I asked my co-worker curiously. It had been almost a week since I last saw him at the casino, and I was starting to feel suspicious.“You’re right, I haven’t seen him either. I wonder what happened. Why don’t you ask the boss—maybe he knows where Gabriel went.”“Right, they are close, aren’t they?”“There’s the boss now, go talk to him.”“Boss,” I called out while he was in a conversation.“Oh, Samantha, is there a problem? Just a second, let me step away. What’s going on, dear?”“Boss, do you know where Gabriel is?”“No, he didn’t say a

Gabriel had been drinking that time and leaned against me. I couldn’t help but look at his gentle face. I just waited until he woke up.“Samantha, sorry, I fell asleep. Let me take you home,” he said.“It’s okay, Gabriel. I understand you’re a little drunk. Sure, take me home.”He brought me home and didn’t do anything inappropriate. I still couldn’t wrap my head around why me—why Gabriel liked me when there were so many women chasing after him.The next morning, as soon as I woke up, I had to call my parents because my father needed medicine for his condition.“Hello, Nanay. How is Tatay?”“He’s okay, anak. But I need to buy some medicine that the doctor prescribed.”“I told you Tatay doesn’t need to work anymore. I’ll send money—he doesn’t need to do anything.”“You know your father, anak. He hates relying on others, especially you.”“He’s so stubborn. Alright Nay, I’ll send money later before I go to work.”“Take care, anak.”“You too, Nay. Please take care of yourselves. Tatay nee

“You know, there’s only one thing I want right now—and that’s Samantha,” he told his cousin.“Who? That girl from the casino? Is she the one you’re talking about?” his cousin asked.“Yeah, that’s her,” he replied.“What if your mom finds out about her?”“You know, my mom doesn't care about me anymore. With all the girls she introduced to me, none of them lasted.”“Alright, I’ll get going now,” his cousin said, saying goodbye.“Say hi to Uncle Armand for me.”“Didn’t you see him at the casino?”“I haven’t seen him around for a while.”“You and your dad are really the same—ladies' men, even at your age,” his cousin joked as he headed out the door.“It runs in the family. What can we do? We’re just made that way.”Then he turned to the housemaid and gave instructions.“Yaya, don’t let any woman in here, no matter what they say—whether they claim to be my girlfriend, wife, or anything else. Don’t let them in unless it’s Alexa, because she’s my cousin.” Then he added, “I’ll be out later. I

While playing poker, Gabriel couldn't help but steal glances at Samantha. Suddenly, Edward, his friend who also enjoyed going to casinos, arrived.“Edward, so you're here! You've been gone a while.”“Yeah, I just came home yesterday to visit,” he replied.“Ah, I see. Let’s play then.”“Hold on, I’ll grab us something to drink,” he said and went over to Samantha.“Excuse me, two beers—one each. Please have them delivered.”“I’m just the cashier, sir. I’ll have someone deliver your order,” she explained.“Gabriel, look, the new cashier is pretty,” Edward said.“Don’t even try. She’s mine.”“So you beat me to it again. You're really fast, Gabriel.”“Gabriel, I’m going home. They might be looking for me already, and I’m sleepy,” said Alexa.“Wait, let me take my cousin home first, Edward. I’ll be right back. Wait for me, okay? Don’t leave.”“Alright,” Edward replied. They left without saying goodbye to Samantha. When Samantha looked over, Gabriel was gone again.“Where’s that Gabriel agai
