The moment class ended, Eli and I practically dragged ourselves out of that room. People were still staring, but honestly? We couldn’t care less. We had about ten minutes before our next class, and I figured it was the perfect time to get to know him better.

“Okay, let’s compare schedules,” he said as we sank onto one of the surprisingly considerate hallway benches. “It’s not every day a school blesses us with actual seating.”

We lined up our schedules. “We’ve got all our classes together—except Biology,” he squealed, pumping a fist.

“More fun for us, then,” I grinned.

“Okay, I’ve got a question,” I said.

“Lay it on me, sis,” he replied with dramatic flair, and I rolled my eyes.

“I get the stares for being new, sure. But I just realized... I’m not the only one they’re staring at.”

“Took you long enough to figure that out,” he said with a smirk. “They’ve always been like that. Typical high school kids who can’t handle how hot I am and that I’m gay. Add the fact I’ve been hanging out with you all morning, and they probably think I’ve switched teams.”

He made a gagging face. “No offense, Nova.”

“None taken.”

“So yeah, we’re kinda the center of attention right now. But don’t worry, it’s temporary. Aiden’s crew always snatches the spotlight back before long. Don’t ask me how—they just breathe and everyone talks.”

At the mention of that name, I scrunched up my face.

Eli caught it. “What’s with the look? You hardly know them.”

“I hardly know the rest, sure. But Aiden? Him—I’ve met.”

His brows shot up. “Already? How?”

“Let’s just say our first meeting was far from pleasant. He was full-on making out with that girl, Chloe, in front of the class when I arrived this morning. Then he had the nerve to throw some flirty crap my way.”

Eli gasped—loudly.

“Keep it down, drama queen! What was that scream for?”

“That scream, Nova, was necessary! Aiden doesn’t just talk to people—especially not new ones. Unless...”

“Unless what?”

“Unless he’s interested in you.”

The paper he sent my way came to mind, but I waved it off.

I groaned. “I’m not interested in him. And I don’t plan to be. I’m good, thanks.”

He waved a hand. “Doesn’t matter if you’re interested. If he is? Girl, you’re doomed. He’s a playboy and a jerk—but damn, he is smoking hot. If only he was gay, I’d take my chances and gladly get my heart broken.”

I raised an eyebrow. “You’re serious?”

“Nova, I would never joke about hotness. Ever.”

“You’re such a diva,” I laughed.

“Okay, young lady, let me educate you on their crew.”

I nodded like a good student.

“You know Aiden, so we’ll skip him. The girl he was lip-locked with is Chloe—his ‘girlfriend’ or... plaything,” he coughed. “She’s the jealous type. Thinks she’s Mrs. Aiden Cross already. Delusional much.”

I chuckled.

“Then there’s Ty—basketball prodigy, cool guy, Aiden’s closest friend. Also hot.”

He held up a finger.

“Last but definitely not least—Jace. Quiet type, but people say he’s hilarious when he talks. Laid back. And hot. My kind of hot.”

Something in his tone shifted when he mentioned Jace, and I made a mental note to investigate that later.

“Typical high school crew, huh?” he asked.

“At least there’s no football player or cheerleader this time,” I replied, and we both burst out laughing.

“You’re right! You’re so right—oh crap! We’re late!” he yelled suddenly.

I looked up. The hallway was almost empty. We’d been so caught up in conversation, we hadn’t noticed everyone else heading to class.

We bolted, laughing like lunatics.

“We’re almost there!” I said as our classroom came into view—just in time for me to slam into someone.

“Watch where you’re going!” screeched a familiar voice.

Oh no. Please not her.

I turned—and yep. It was Chloe. Hands on hips. Ready for war.

“Sorry,” I muttered. “We were just rushing to class.”

She tilted her head, eyes narrowing as recognition dawned. “You’re that girl from earlier, aren’t you?”

“Does it matter?” I said, itching to just get past her.

“Of course it matters,” came another voice. Instantly recognizable.

Aiden.

I hadn’t even noticed him—or the two guys flanking him—standing behind Chloe. My focus had been entirely on her.

Eli went silent beside me.

“And it matters how, Aiden?” I asked, emphasizing his name with all the disdain I could muster.

One of the guys—Ty or Jace, maybe—chuckled, but Aiden ignored it.

“You might still be bitter about not joining us earlier. I did invite you,” he said, that smug smirk firmly in place.

I laughed. Loudly.

They all looked at me like I’d lost it.

Turning to Chloe, I said, “I guess you’re not the only delusional one in your little crew. Your boyfriend’s just claimed the throne.”

I could feel Eli trembling beside me, trying to hold in his laughter.

“I already apologized, so I don’t see why we’re still standing here. Whether you accept it or not is really not my problem.”

I turned back to Aiden. “Goodbye, Aiden.”

With that, I grabbed Eli’s arm, looped it through mine, and strode into the classroom.

I could’ve sworn someone behind us burst out laughing before the door shut.

Let them laugh.

I wasn’t here to play games.

We slid into our chairs just as the bell rang. Eli leaned in, eyes gleaming with mischief.

“You just made enemies, babe. A hot one and a crazy one—and that’s not the kind that forgives easily.”

I just shrugged, even as my hands trembled with adrenaline.

Then I felt him.

Aiden walked into the class... and took the seat directly in front of me.

What gave him the right to switch seats like this?

“Mr. Cross,” came the teacher’s voice—thankfully.

Yes. Go teacher. Put him in his place.

“You’re not scheduled for this class.”

“I know,” he replied smoothly. “I was just hoping to bond with the new girl... for educational purposes.”

The whole class gasped. Literal gasps.

Say something, teach. Anything.

But he just turned back to the board and kept teaching, like this wasn’t pure insanity.

Aiden glanced back, full smile on display. “You don’t mind, do you?”

And without waiting for a response, he turned around again.

With over thirty pairs of eyes burning into me, I realized something terrifying.

I’d made a huge mistake crossing him.

And of course... Cross just had to be his name.

Nova’s POVI woke up with my legs tangled in Aiden’s, his bare chest warm against my side. Guess he wasn’t joking about always sleeping shirtless. I didn’t even remember when he took it off, then again, last night had been a whirlwind of emotions, so missing that detail wasn’t exactly shocking.I gave his sleeping face another quick glance soft, peaceful, not a care in the world—before slowly untangling myself. Careful not to wake him, I slid out of bed, padded across the room, and skipped downstairs.“Good morning, Arnold,” I sang, dropping onto the seat beside him. He was hunched over like the world had personally wronged him, worry practically oozing off his face.My eyes did a quick sweep of the room, no sign of Eli’s stuff. That meant one thing.“Where’s Eli?” I asked, softer now.“He left already,” Arnold said casually, but there was a sting under that casual tone, like a splinter you can’t quite pull out. Something had definitely happened.“He said he’d send you a text,” he add

  • Nightmare turned love    Control

Arnold’s POVOnce could be a mistake. Twice was intentional. And yet, as I sat there with my lips still on Eli’s, I knew even the first kiss hadn’t felt like a mistake to me. I’d told myself it was an accident, that I’d been caught up in the moment—but deep down, I had wanted him from the start. I’d just been holding back, for what I thought were valid reasons. Now, with his hand gripping my shirt and his lips moving against mine, all those reasons faded into nothing.I was still a little shocked he was letting it happen. Would it be too much to assume he might feel something for me too? Or was he just humoring me? Whatever it was, I didn’t want to stop.I tugged at his hair, using the momentum to deepen the kiss, and God, I loved every second of it. But the moment cracked when I felt his palms on my chest, gently pushing me back. That small movement snapped me back to my senses.I let my forehead rest against his, breathing in, before pulling back to look at him. I wasn’t sure what I

  • Nightmare turned love    Content

Nova’s POV“What do you think happened between them?” I asked the second Aiden and I shut my bedroom door. I was more than ready to stand by the stairs and eavesdrop, but of course Aiden insisted that wasn’t “appropriate.” Which now left me here, burning with curiosity.“We’ll find out tomorrow morning, if we’re supposed to know,” he said with that maddeningly calm tone, strolling around my room like he was inspecting a crime scene.“What are you even looking for?” I asked, sitting cross-legged on the bed, my lips curving into a smirk.“Just having a look,” he replied, opening drawers like they held the secrets of the universe. “I realized I’ve never properly looked around. What better time than now?”“There’s nothing special here, Cross,” I said, leaning back on my hands. “Just a basic room with a bit of Nova flavor. Honestly, it’s incomplete without me.”He shot me a smirk before pulling open another drawer and froze. Then his grin turned downright evil.“I guess Eli wasn’t joking a

  • Nightmare turned love    The Pull

Eli’s POVI didn’t know how to feel. One second, I was staring at Arnold. The next, his lips were on mine, soft, quick, and gone before I could even process it. My brain stalled. What??? When??? How?? And most importantly, why?I’d only gone upstairs because I noticed how tense he’d been all night, how he stiffened even more when Aiden joked about us kissing. I thought he was annoyed that Aiden would even joke like that, since he was straight and just a friend. End of story. But now? He’d kissed me. Accidentally, he said. And then bolted. My heart was a mess. When we walked back downstairs, I curled into my blanket like it was the only thing keeping me from falling apart. Arnold sat beside me, silent. I tried focusing on the movie, but every nerve in my body was still stuck upstairs, replaying the moment. Nova and Aiden’s whispers behind us weren’t helping especially since Arnold’s jaw kept tightening like he could hear every word.“We can still hear you guys,” I said, turning to them

  • Nightmare turned love    Tense

Arnold’s POVI’d been tense since Eli walked into the house. Not because it was awkward, if anything, it was the opposite. For some reason, the moment he stepped inside, I couldn’t stop watching him. Every laugh, every little movement… it was ridiculous how much attention I was paying. And this time, I’d invited him over myself. That fact alone made tonight feel different. When my parents left and the hangout automatically turned into a sleepover, a part of me was thrilled. I’d been dancing around my feelings for weeks, but after this past one, it was undeniable. I felt something for him . And I wasn’t playing around with that fact anymore.I knew Eli well enough to predict he’d pick a horror movie. What I didn’t expect was the way he’d flinch at every jump scare and cling to my arm like it was the only thing keeping him alive. We were sitting so close it felt almost… illegal to just keep watching the movie.“They’re going all out,” he whispered, his breath warm against my neck.“Yeah

  • Nightmare turned love    Something

Aiden’s POV Eli and Nova had been at it for nearly thirty minutes, still arguing over whether we should watch horror or romance. Arnold just sat there like he was enjoying a live comedy show. I leaned closer to him. “How long do you think this is gonna last?” I whispered. “Just let them burn through all that energy,” he said with a sigh. “They’ll be asleep halfway through whatever they finally pick.” He dodged a flung DVD case like it was second nature, and I couldn’t help chuckling. Honestly, the night was going better than I expected. Mr. Reyes had finally warmed up to me—turns out, all I needed to do was talk about investments. If I’d known he was into that stuff, I would’ve led with it the first time we met. Still, better late than never. Now if only these two could settle on a movie before sunrise. “Are you guys done yet?” I asked, louder this time. They both froze mid-argument and glared at me. I raised my hands in mock surrender. You’re taking too long,” Arnold chimed
