Carlee Carter had the life every woman envied. Billionaire husband. Mansion. A marriage that looked perfect from the outside. Nobody knew the truth. Her marriage was a business arrangement, and August made sure she never forgot it. No warmth. No affection. Just a husband who called her his wife in public and a stranger in private. Until the day she caught him in another woman's bed and learned exactly how little she meant to him. Then his twin brothers moved in. The same two men she'd once loved. The same two men whose hearts she broke to marry August. Now they're living under her roof, and every look, every touch, every whispered word is a reminder of what she gave up. August doesn't want her. His brothers never stopped.

Chapter 1

Unwanted Guests

Carlee

I bit my lip hard as another wave of pleasure rolled through me. My legs trembled against the sheets and my fingers tightened until my knuckles turned white. Every slow movement sent heat spreading lower, making my breath catch in my throat.

It had been too long. Seven months of lying beside a man who barely touched me anymore. My body was desperate, and right now it felt so good I could barely think straight.

My free hand slid up to my chest, teasing the sensitive peaks through the thin fabric of my nightshirt. My toes curled into the mattress. The pressure built low in my belly, tighter and tighter with every second. I was so close. Just a little more and I would finally get the release I had been chasing for weeks.

"Mrs. Carlee?"

The knock on the door pulled me out of it. My fingers didn't stop right away. I was too far gone. My body refused to listen, chasing that peak even as reality crashed in. I just needed a few more seconds. Just a few more. But the ache was already fading, slipping away like water through my fingers, and the frustration that replaced it was almost worse than the denial.

"Mr. Carter is back and he brought guests."

That stopped me cold.

I groaned and dropped back against the pillows, breathing hard. My chest rose and fell as I stared at the ceiling. Frustration burned through every part of me. Slowly, I fixed my clothes and sat up. Seven months without being touched will do that to a person. It turns you into someone who almost cries when the only chance you get is taken away.

"I'm coming," I called out, covering my face with both hands for a moment. Just a few more seconds. That was all I wanted.

I put everything away, stood up, and threw on the first decent clothes I could find. Nothing fancy, but good enough. I checked myself in the mirror quickly, smoothing my hair and making sure my face didn't look as wrecked as I felt. I didn't want to walk downstairs looking like a mess, even if that was exactly how I felt inside.

I didn't want to keep him waiting. Not when he had guests. That would ruin the flawless image we had worked so hard to build. The ideal wife. The ideal marriage. The ideal life that only looked real from the outside.

Voices drifted from the dining room as I got closer. August's deep voice mixed with two others. The sound made something uncomfortable twist in my gut. Those voices sounded familiar. I prayed I was wrong.

I put on my practiced smile, the one I had perfected over years of performing, and walked in.

"Hey babe," I said cheerfully, going straight to him. I didn't look at the guests yet. I had learned how to play this game. Make him look good first. Always.

He barely glanced up from his phone. Just a quick flicker of his eyes before he typed out one last message and slipped the device into his pocket. Then he smiled, that same rehearsed smile that never quite reached his eyes, and grabbed my waist. He kissed me hard, longer than necessary, like he was putting on a show. But his lips were cold against mine. Mechanical. The kind of kiss that meant nothing except look at us, aren't we happy. If I wasn't already wound tight from earlier, that kiss might have done something to me. But I knew better than to hope for anything real from him.

"Hey you," he said when he finally pulled back. He kept one arm around me, holding me against his side as we both turned to face his guests.

My knees almost gave out.

It can't be.

I clung to him harder just to stay standing. Maybe the universe was playing some kind of cruel joke on me. Maybe I was still half-asleep and this was a nightmare.

I looked between the two men standing in our dining room and felt the air leave my lungs. I had recognized the voices earlier, but I never once thought it would actually be them. Now I understood why people always said your past comes back to bite you when you least expect it.

They both smiled at me like this was the most normal thing in the world while I was dying inside. One of them, the slightly taller one, walked toward us with that same easy confidence he always had. I held my breath without meaning to.

Flashbacks hit me without warning. Dillon's hand on my lower back at a crowded party, pulling me into a dark hallway. His whisper against my ear, hot and dangerous. Nobody has to know. Dexter's quieter intensity, the way he used to watch me across a room like he was memorizing every detail. The way both of them made me feel seen in a way August never bothered to try. I had buried those memories deep, but now they clawed their way back up my throat.

"Damn, brother. You like them thick, don't you?" Dillon said the moment he stopped in front of us. His smile looked friendly enough, but the look in his eyes was anything but. It was the same look that used to get me in trouble years ago.

"Oh, shut up," August said, still smiling. Anyone else would think he actually enjoyed the joke. I knew better. His grip on my waist tightened just a little. "Carlee, baby, meet my brothers. Dillon and Dexter. The devil twins. If they weren't always causing trouble somewhere, you would have met them sooner."

He was honest about one thing. They really were the devil twins.

"Hi. I'm Dillon, the more handsome twin," the first one said, holding out his hand like he was completely innocent. "That's Dexter over there."

My hand shook slightly as I took his. The second our skin touched, I wanted to pull away, but he held on a second too long. Then he winked at me, slow and deliberate. Panic shot straight through my chest. I glanced at August quickly, but he didn't seem to notice anything. He was already looking past us, toward the bar, like none of this mattered. I yanked my hand back as politely as I could. Dillon's smile only grew wider.

"Handsome twin my ass," the other one said as he stepped closer. Having both of them this near made it hard to breathe properly. "Dexter. Nice to meet you, Carlee."

His voice was smoother than his brother's, calmer, but somehow that made it worse. I forced myself not to react. Especially not in front of August. My husband.

I managed a small smile and a quiet "Nice to meet you too," even though the words felt like they were stuck in my throat.

"Well, now that introductions are done," August said, making me look at him. I prayed my eyes didn't show how badly I was falling apart inside. "The twins will be staying with us for a while."

I almost screamed right there in the middle of the dining room.

"Pop wants me to teach them the company ropes," August continued, like he hadn't just dropped a bomb on my entire life. "They'll be here for a few months at least. Maybe longer."

I barely heard the rest of what he said.

They were staying here. Under the same roof. In the same house. The same two men I had spent years trying to forget.
