Chapter: Twenty-Five
Things went back to normal after Xavier was okay again. The brothers and Jess even found their own routine within the next week, Jess would follow the rules and do the things they asked, and they would leave her alone, they would in no way be kind to her, but it was better than before, they weren’t going out of their way to terrorize her anymore, most night the boys worked late, busy with the arrangements for the queen, Jess hadn’t slept in the office, other than the first time, but she wanted to, she never slept as good as she did that day. Not since she arrived at this place. But what Xavier said a few days ago were true, things hadn’t change between them. They still had a worker-boss relationship, and if she stepped out of line she would be punished, Jess kept reminding herself of this, but even though the voice in her head was wise, didn’t mean she was smart enough to listen to that voice.

Jessica felt strange. It was a simple word, but it was the best way to describe how she felt. She felt like everything around her moved slowly and nothing was in focus. Jess come out of the bathroom with Matthew’s robe around her. It was extremely big on her, she had to roll up her sleeves at least three times and the bottom of the rob hung till the floor. Jess just laid there. Sarah and Mike tried to talk to Jess, but she couldn’t hear them, she didn’t want to. All Jess wanted, was for it all to end. Each breath she inhaled and exhaled pained her. She just wanted to close her eyes and forget, forget about maya, forget about her father. She wanted to hit the restart button; she would give anything to forget about everything. Remembering was just too hard, it’s like trying to live in a dessert with only one bottle of water for days. In some way it was most likely do able, but not without struggle, not without hardship. “Maya!” Jess yelled, her voice, cracking and breaking since it was still swollen form the last screams. Jess looked around, but she couldn’t see anything.“Maya! All the boys were waiting in Jessica’s hospital room. She hadn’t woken up for two days now, Doc said it was due to exhausted, but it still made them unnerve.
