Chapter 4

Auteur: Stars
My good mood was ruined by the appearance of those three.

I went to a cafe and was leisurely enjoying my afternoon tea when I unexpectedly ran into the one person I least wanted to see.

Julia pushed the door open and walked over to sit directly across from me, as if she had planned it. Before I could say anything, she spoke first, her voice dripping with mockery and smugness.

"Jasmine, so what if you're the Alpha's daughter? In the end, I'm the one who won. But don't blame me. Blame yourself. You were the one constantly showing off—your wonderful family background, your perfect mates, everything. You brought this all on yourself.

"I only pulled a simple trick, and they abandoned you. How stupid!"

I wasn't bothered by what she said, but her constant flitting around in front of me was annoying.

I responded calmly, "Back then, Lester rescued you from the rebellion and brought you into my pack. At first, I felt sorry for you and took care of you in every way I could. But this is how you repay me, Julia? Just remembering all I did for you makes me sick.

"Still, I should thank you. You helped me see their true colors. As a show of my thanks, the coffee in front of you is on me."

Seeing that I wasn't the least bit angry, Julia's expression grew increasingly twisted. In the end, she sneered and said, "You were born an Alpha's daughter and were pampered your whole life. When you grew up, you were destined to mate with an Alpha and become a Luna.

"Why do you get to live in comfort while my home was destroyed in the rebellion? Why can I only survive on your charity? Why?"

The more Julia talked, the more worked up she got. She slammed the table wildly, causing a huge scene that drew stares from everyone around.

However, my expression didn't change. I just gently stirred my coffee with my spoon.

"Congratulations on getting what you wanted, then."

I was about to stand and leave when Julia grabbed the coffee on the table. Just as I thought she was going to throw it on me, she poured it on herself instead. The scalding coffee burned a red patch on her skin.

Before I could react, two figures shoved me aside. They anxiously grabbed Julia and asked, "Julia, are you okay? Are you hurt?"

Julia's eyes were red-rimmed and teary as she shook her head. "I'm fine. I just didn't expect that Jasmine would get so mad and throw coffee at me. It's my fault. I said things I shouldn't have."

Henry and Lester got even angrier when they heard this. "Why are you still defending her at a time like this? You're too kind! That's why you get pushed around so easily."

Henry's expression darkened as he walked up to me. "Jasmine, you've disappointed me. I'm so glad you aren't my Luna. A vicious she-wolf like you doesn't deserve to set foot in my pack."

"There are plenty of witnesses here. If you had bothered to ask anyone, you'd know I didn't throw it on her," I replied calmly.

"Who else could it be if not you? Do you think Julia poured it on herself? Do you really think I'm blind?"

I couldn't help but sneer at Henry's words. He wasn't just blind—he was stupid. Any Alpha with half a brain wouldn't abandon a beneficial mate for a powerless, insignificant she-wolf.

I was just as stupid in my previous life. I had status and power, yet I let those two werewolves ruin everything I had.

I didn't feel like explaining myself. It wasn't like they would listen anyway.

"Stop trying to get my attention with these tricks. I will never be with you. I can't just let what you did to Julia slide. Tomorrow, prepare another 50 million dollars to make amends to her. Only then will we be merciful and forgive you."

Without waiting for my answer, Henry scooped Julia up and walked away.

Lester looked at me with a complicated expression. "Jasmine, you'd better watch out for yourself."

With that, he turned and left as well.

Watch out? That applied to the three of them more than it did me.

Soon, I boarded the plane heading for the borderlands. As the plane rose higher, the buildings below completely disappeared from view.

I was born a free bird. Why would I stay perched on a branch that was about to snap?

My parents, wanting me to focus on my work in the borderlands, never mentioned that Henry and Lester were at our doorstep begging to see me.For a long time after that, I didn't hear anything about them. One ordinary evening, I had just finished a major surgery and was getting ready to head home when I saw two unexpected figures in my office. It had only been a few months, but they had lost a lot of weight. Henry's cheeks had hollowed out, making him look nothing like the once proud and spirited Alpha he used to be. Even Lester had developed streaks of gray in his hair. The moment they saw me, they jumped up and grabbed my hand. Before I could even say anything, their tears were already dripping onto the back of my hand."Jasmine, I ended things with Julia…" Henry spoke first, looking at me tearfully. "After you left, I finally realized the person I truly love has always been you. I was bewitched by Julia for a while and made a mistake that any guy could make. But I've changed now

The cake hit the floor with a smack, and Julia stared at Henry in disbelief."What are you saying? You want to use my body to pay off your debts?"At first, Henry felt a little guilty and couldn't meet her eyes. But then, he thought about it. Julia was the one who caused him to land in this mess. It was only fair that she made some sacrifices."Think about it," he said. "Without money, how can I give you a good life? Didn't I promise a do-over for the mating ceremony? Just make this small sacrifice for me."Julia's face went pale, and her body trembled uncontrollably. "You were the one who said you liked me before, which was why I threw away my dignity to be with you! And now, you want me to sleep with someone else? Henry, you bastard! Rot in hell!"Hysterical, Julia snatched a cup and hurled it at him while she wailed. "Are you pushing me away on purpose because you regret being with me? I'm not as smart as Jasmine, and I don't have her family's money or power, but I truly love y

Henry and Lester could forget about forming alliances with other packs. They couldn't even figure out how to go ahead with the mating ceremony. They had assumed I would take care of the venue, gowns, and rings, so they hadn't prepared anything themselves.Faced with this awkward situation, many Alphas who came for the mating ceremony left without a word. Only a few curious relatives and friends remained, along with reporters eager for more juicy gossip. With no other options, they found whatever empty plot of land they could and hurriedly exchanged vows, then quickly ended the ceremony. This mating ceremony was arguably the most slapdash one in the history of the werewolves. It immediately caused an uproar online, with nothing but mockery directed their way.Julia was labeled a tramp for holding a mating ceremony with two Alphas. Both Henry's and Lester's packs were embarrassed and refused to acknowledge her as their Luna, each trying to dodge responsibility. It nearly sparked a

Three days later, I arrived at my destination. The living conditions in the borderlands were so harsh that even I was shocked. The medical facilities were terrible, and this pack had the highest mortality rate across the werewolf community. When the locals saw me arrive, they grasped my hand with tears in their eyes. "Every healer who comes here gets scared off by the conditions. You're the first one to come willingly. On behalf of all the locals in the borderlands, thank you."The warmth I felt in my palm spread to my heart. For the first time, I felt needed. I also found true meaning in my life for the first time ever. These people were so grateful to a healer they'd never even met. Meanwhile, I worked tirelessly at home for years, yet Henry and Lester never once thanked me.This made me even more determined to stay in the borderlands.I immediately threw myself into the work. Mom remained silent for a long moment before she finally sighed. "You're right, Jasmine. Our pack hasn't fallen so low that we need to sell you off. I'm so proud that you have your own plans."Dad nodded. "That's right. I'll issue an order so that our pack never works with theirs again.
