Chapter 8

Elias looked at Damon, who was in the car, from a distance. He had a meaningful smile at the corners of his lips, and it had a hint of unshaken confidence. He withdrew his gaze first and raised his foot as he headed back to the hospital.

In the past, Elias had let Jeanette go because he knew that they were about to get married, and Jeanette loved Damon deeply. He knew that after they got married, he would never stand a chance. But now, it seemed like... he did have a chance.

Damon stared at Elias’s figure as he disappeared from sight and clasped the steering wheel.

What relationship did that person have with Jeanette? They seemed so close, and they were talking and laughing... What an eyesore!

Damon felt even more furious as he thought about how ridiculous he was for waiting for her at the hospital entrance. It was rare for him to treat her so kindly, but he did since he was in a good mood. Yet, she was getting so close with another man in front of him!?

Did she even remember that she was married in her heart? She really deserved to be disciplined!

Damon clenched the steering wheel. He was about to start the car and head back to settle the score with that woman when a sudden knock came from the car window.

“Damon...” Madison leaned on the car window with a smile on her face. “Why are you here? Did you come to pick me up?” She had indeed sent Damon a text before heading to the hospital.

Damon frowned and said coldly, “I have something to do. Got to go.”

Madison’s expression stiffened, and she held onto the car door before saying anxiously, “Damon, what are you going to do about my pregnancy? It’s been two months already…”

Damon turned his head to look at Madison and said in an indifferent tone, “It’s your child. You’re expecting me to do something about it?”

Madison’s facial expression changed slightly, and she said, “It’s also your child…”

The corners of Damon’s mouth tugged upward in a cold sneer. “Get rid of it then.”

He drove away after saying his piece.

Madison was left standing alone in a daze and could not snap back to her senses.

What did he mean? Did he have no feelings at all when he said to get rid of the child so nonchalantly? Could it be that he actually knew about the truth of what had happened that night?

Damon and Jeanette did not have a good relationship, and there had been multiple rumors of him sleeping around with various celebrities and models.

Thus, Madison had plotted an unplanned encounter when she realized that Damon never rejected any woman. She had wanted to sleep with Damon and fake a pregnancy so that he would be forced to marry her.

Unfortunately, even though she had succeeded in entering Damon’s room that night, he had been sound asleep. Naturally, they could not really do the deed, so she could only take off her clothes and pretend that she had slept with him.

When Damon had woken up, she had made up a story about him getting drunk and wanting to sleep with her. After hearing about what had supposedly happened, he had not said anything. Thus, she had been under the impression that he believed her.

But it seemed like...

Could it be that he knew everything?

No way...

If he knew everything, why wouldn’t he expose her?

No, Damon definitely did not know. It was probably because he did not like children—that must be why he was so cold.

However, she had heard that Damon’s mother wanted a grandchild for a long time now.

Since Damon was not interested in her, she would just go straight to his mother! Madison refused to believe that Sylvia would ignore her!

As Madison thought about it, her expression eased a little. She patted her bag that had various check-up reports, and she smiled triumphantly. Sooner or later, she would be the young lady of the Godfrey family!

The injury on Jeanette’s ankle was not serious, but it somewhat affected her walking. As such, she went to the mall on the way home and bought a pair of comfortable flats for work tomorrow.

After coming out of the mall, she also got something to eat along the way before carrying her things home. With all the time spent, it was already evening when she arrived at Villa Harmonia.

For the rest of the day, she could go through the report that would be needed for tomorrow’s meeting...

Jeanette was lost in her thoughts as she rang the doorbell. The housekeeper responded and immediately opened the door for her. She then glanced at Jeanette with a strange expression.

“What’s wrong?” Jeanette wondered.

The housekeeper’s gaze directed her to the inside of the villa.

When Jeanette looked inside, her heart suddenly skipped a beat.
