Chapter 9

During the two years of their marriage, Damon had never come back before, except on nights when he got drunk. He was currently sitting on the sofa in the living room with a gloomy expression. He raised his eyes as he stared at Jeanette calmly and indifferently.

Jeanette froze at the door for a while before finally raising her foot and walking in. She asked softly, “Why are you back home?”

The corners of Damon’s lips curved into what seemed like a smile. “Why? You don’t welcome me?”

Jeanette’s heart was filled with bitterness.

How would she not want him home?

She had been wishing for it way too many times, yet it had never come true. Now that her wish suddenly came true, she could not believe it. At the same time, she somehow had an ominous feeling.

“Why exactly did you come back?” she asked frankly.

Damon fixed his eyes at her and only said two words. “Come here.”

Jeanette was a little wary as she asked, “What are you doing?”

Damon repeated coldly, “I said, come here.”

The housekeeper behind him noticed that the atmosphere was a little odd, so she hurriedly sneaked into the kitchen to erase her own presence.

Jeanette bit her lower lip and took a step forward boldly. “What do you want— Ah!”

Damon grabbed hold of her wrist before she could finish her sentence. Everything seemed to be spinning around, and in the blink of an eye, he had already pressed her down on the sofa.

The distance between them was merely inches.

Jeanette was frightened and nervous, and her heart was beating wildly in her chest. “Damon, what are you trying to do?”

Damon reached out and grabbed her chin. The spot where his fingertips touched her skin was the exact same spot as when Elias had touched her chin earlier.

Damon’s voice sounded threatening as he warned her, “Jeanette, you’re getting less and less self-aware now.”

Jeanette sneered as she realized why he had come back. It must have been because of the family dinner today. Before leaving with her, he had assured Sylvia that he would handle her after they returned home! Thus, it was time he dealt with her!

Jeanette glared at him stubbornly and replied, “How am I not self-aware? Just because I didn’t tolerate the insults your mother threw at me today?”

“It’s not just about that, Jeanette. Do you know the morals and virtues a woman should have, huh?” He slowly tightened his fingers that were grabbing her chin. “Since you’re mine, Damon Orion Godfrey’s woman, then you should understand what integrity is. Don’t hang around with other men out there all day. Even if you don’t mind losing your integrity, I do!”

She had no shame? She hung around with other men!?

Jeanette smiled bitterly. “What about you? Do you ever think about a man’s integrity when you fool around with those female celebrities and models and those women who come out of nowhere?”

Damon’s deep eyes narrowed slightly. “Why? Do you care?”

His words pierced right through Jeanette’s weakness. Of course she cared! She cared so much that it made every day miserable, and she would lose sleep at night.

But how could she reveal all those emotions in front of Damon?

She sneered and said, “I don’t care. I just think it’s dirty.”

She did not mean it.

However, the atmosphere in the entire living room fell silent as soon as she said that.

Damon’s face was terrifyingly gloomy, and his dark eyes were cold. “It’s dirty? Then why did you try to crawl into my bed in the first place?” His voice was as cold as ice.

His other hand had already worked its way up Jeanette’s clothes while he was speaking. “Do you need me to reenact how you seduced me that night so that you can recall how shameless you were?”

Jeanette struggled. “What are you doing? Let go of me!”
