Chapter 3

Author: Rui Rui
Molly's POV

Three days later. The day I was supposed to choose.

And of course—my first shift had to hit that exact night.

It felt like every bone in my body was being ripped apart at the joints and shoved back in wrong. I locked myself in my room, sweat soaking through my clothes. Logan and Derek stood guard outside the door, moonflowers in hand, not moving an inch.

"Molly, once you're done shifting, can you come to my place first?" Logan's voice came through the door, hesitant. "I... I have a surprise for you."

Derek cut in immediately: "No, come to mine! I've got one too!"

They started bickering outside—then one of their phones rang.

"Hello? Logan... Derek... I—I—" Rose's voice came through, choppy and tearful. "I got in a car crash on my way to Molly's... it hurts so bad... I'm so scared..."

Silence.

"Where are you hurt? How bad is it?" Logan's voice went razor-sharp.

"Stay put. I'm coming." Derek's footsteps were already moving.

They hung up. Then they remembered me.

Logan pressed his hand against the door, voice tight. "Molly, I left the best healers I could find right outside your door. Don't worry. We'll handle this and... come right back."

Derek added quickly: "You said you'd pick between us. Don't forget."

I didn't answer.

They stood there a moment longer, waiting. Then Derek's phone rang again—Rose sobbing on the other end. Their footsteps faded down the hall, fast.

All that was left outside my door were a handful of confused healers.

I finally let go of my wrist—I'd bitten down so hard it was bleeding—and pressed my forehead to the cold floor.

The second wave hit. I fumbled for my phone.

Called Logan. Busy.

Called Derek. Busy.

I stared at the screen, fingers shaking. Called Logan again. Still busy. Tried Derek a third time—it went through.

"Derek... it hurts..." My voice came out in splinters. "Can you come back? Just for a minute..."

Two seconds of silence. Rose's faint whimper in the background. His voice went muffled, like he'd covered the mic. Then he came back, words tumbling fast: "Molly, Rose is pretty banged up—I can't leave her. I'll have the healers give you something extra for the pain. Just hang on, okay? Logan's headed back."

Before I could answer, he hung up.

I stared at the dark screen. Then I called Logan one last time.

It went through.

"Logan." I said his name, barely a scrape of sound in my throat. "Come back. Please. I'm really... I'm hurting."

Long silence. Then a sigh—weary, patient. "Molly, Rose just got emergency treatment and she can't be alone right now. You've got healers there. Don't be like this, alright?"

Don't be like this.

I pulled the phone away from my ear. Stared at the screen for a long time. Then I hung up. Calm.

The third wave hit. Harder than the first two combined—my spine felt like someone was grabbing both ends and bending it backward. I bit into my wrist, blood running down my arm into my sleeve, blurring my vision.

The door crashed open.

A rough hand pressed down on the back of my neck—steady as a mountain. The searing pain eased, inch by inch, under that grip.

"Don't be scared." My father's voice was raw. "Dad's here."

My claws dug into his sleeve. Tears soaked into the worn leather. My bones were still cracking, but all I could hear was his heartbeat—slow and solid in his chest.

The moon was full. Moonlight washed over me. And it didn't hurt anymore.

My phone buzzed by my foot. A message from Rose, perfectly timed:

[See it now, Molly? One call from me, and they'll drop you. Even if you became their mate, nothing would change. But hey—I might consider letting you have one of them. If you ask nicely.]

I stared at the screen. Tears came—and I let them. Then I steadied my hands and typed back: "No need. You can have both. They're yours."

Sent. Blocked Rose. Blocked Logan. Blocked Derek.

Snapped the SIM card in half, tossed it, slid in a new one.

My father looked down at me, calloused hand still on my neck. "Sweetheart, you just finished your shift. Sure you don't want to rest a few days before we go?"

"No."

I pushed myself up against the wall—legs shaking, but spine straight.

"We leave now."

He didn't ask again. He had my things packed and loaded in minutes. Helped me into the car.

Goodbye, Howler.

My new life starts now—and it has no room for Logan. No room for Derek.

Molly's POVI didn't expect Logan and Derek to still refuse to give up. They'd slipped into Silverfang Pack again. They'd built a massive castle out of flower bouquets outside the hall, surrounded by countless gift boxes. Candles flickered like scattered stars, making the whole thing look dreamlike—almost unreal.Logan and Derek were dressed to impress in different styles of suits, each holding moonflowers as they stood there.Derek shouted up at the building: "Molly! Derek's here to keep his promise! You didn't hear my confession last time, but you can't miss it now!" Quite a few people had gathered, craning their necks to see what was going on. Logan chimed in next: "Molly, you promised you'd choose one of us. It's time."I watched the whole scene from upstairs. Not a single ounce of emotion stirred in me.I called the guards to kick them out.Logan's thin lips parted, his voice barely above a whisper: "Molly... I'm sorry. We were wrong before. But please—give me one more chance? I'v

Molly's POV"Who is he?"Logan and Derek spoke at the same time, their eyes filled with nothing but suspicion. Logan's gaze was cold as ice as he locked eyes with Ryan without flinching. Derek, on the other hand, stared at me like I was prey he couldn't look away from. They were waiting for my answer.I asked calmly, "What are you two doing here? And who he is—none of your business. Shouldn't you be with Rose right now?" I swept my cold gaze over them, assuming they'd come looking for trouble on her behalf again.Ryan gave my hand a reassuring squeeze. The mention of Rose made Logan and Derek's expressions shift, growing awkward. Logan cleared his throat. "We're not with her. Everything that happened before—I can explain."Derek grabbed my arms. "Everything we did before—the coldness toward you, the way we treated her—we only did it to make you realize how important we are to you..."They took turns explaining everything that had happened over the past few months, their eyes filled wit

  • No Longer Theirs   Chapter 6

Molly's POVThe moment I stepped off the plane, I spotted a man leading a group of people. His features were sharp and well-defined, but what stood out most were those sky-blue eyes. Tall with broad shoulders and a tapered waist, he drew more than a few glances. He walked over to my father and me."Alpha King.""Miss, I'm Ryan Robinson, the King's Beta." He reached for my small suitcase, introducing himself, then called a driver over to load the rest of the luggage into the car.I looked at my father. He explained, "This is my Beta. He's here to pick us up."As the cool breeze of Silverfang hit me, I shivered involuntarily, my mind snapping into focus. Ryan draped a coat over my shoulders. It carried the scent of cedarwood and his body heat. I smiled, a little embarrassed."You mentioned wanting to learn about pack affairs before. Ryan's a great teacher."I turned to Ryan and said politely, "Then I'll be in your care, Ryan."He smiled back. "Of course, Miss."In the days that followed

Logan's and Derek's POV"What are you doing here? I thought you were home resting after the accident." "Rose, where's Molly?"Derek and Logan spoke one after another.Rose answered, "Derek, Logan, I came to see how things were going. What happened?""Molly... I think she left us." Logan stared at the mess of trampled flowers on the ground, his voice hollow.Neither of them had expected things to turn out like this. All that hope and anticipation, crushed in an instant. The bitter taste in their mouths was hard to swallow.Rose held up their gifts and smiled at them, trying to cheer them up:"Derek, Logan, don't lose hope. Molly... Molly just hasn't figured things out yet. Maybe after some time, she'll come around!""Look, the gifts you prepared are amazing. A girl like me would love them—so Molly would definitely love them too."Unfortunately, neither Derek nor Logan was really listening."She wouldn't like them."Logan's voice was flat. They'd grown up with her—how could they not und

Logan's and Derek's POVThe plane had barely taken off when, on the other side of the city, Logan and Derek came rushing back, clutching moonflowers in their hands. They stood outside Molly's door, their faces growing darker by the second. No sound came from inside. The uneasy feeling in their chests kept getting worse. For some reason, they both had a bad feeling about this. And that feeling kept growing—until a single thought surfaced in both their minds.Something happened to Molly. They burst through the door—only to find an empty room and a few scattered traces of blood.Logan had called Molly's phone more times than he could count. She never picked up.Derek's face was as black as coal. "She blocked me. I can't reach her at all."He gripped his phone so hard it was a miracle the screen didn't crack.Judging by the chill in Logan's eyes, he was in the same boat."Same here."They'd never dealt with anything like this before.Molly had never—not once—gone this long without contacti
