Beta Marcus stood near the far table his big body bent a little over a wooden soil bed, he had taken off his heavy vest. He wore a dark green linen shirt with sleeves rolled up past his thick arms, he held a small brass cutting tool, trimming dead stems from a silver rose.Next to him stood Elena. She wore a simple, pretty dark blue wool dress with a lace collar, her dark hair was tied back with a soft ribbon. In her small hands she held a wooden tray with dried herbs sage, lavender, and crushed moon petal used for making calming teas for the sick wing."The silver rose roots take longer to settle in city soil, Marcus," Elena said softly, her voice sweet and quiet like a mountain stream. She put her tray on the table and pointed at the base of the plant. "You have to pack the wet moss around the main stem so the cold does not bite it."Marcus stopped cutting and looked down at her. His usual hard, stern warrior face melted into a rare, sweet warmth that only Elena ever saw."I am bet

It was early morning, the sun was coming up over the valley clearing the fog.Sarah stood on the east balcony with a mug of hot spiced tea. She wore a dark grey wool coat with a fur collar, her silver blonde hair was pinned up. He walked up behind her and wrapped his arms around her waist, pulling her back against his chest to keep her warm."You're up early, my Queen," Damian whispered in her ear.Sarah leaned her head back on his shoulder.
