Sandy came in and scooped me up into her arms, her sharp gaze sweeping over the Bakers.

"I happened to run into this girl and only now realize how miserable her life is. Even her parents don't care about her and left her alone in an alley. If you don't want her, then I'll raise her."

Amanda's expression changed. "What's that supposed to mean, Mrs. Sandy?! No matter what happened, Mindy is still my daughter! It's not your place to interfere, especially when she's the reason Jade got kidnapped."
