Celeste’s POV

Grace was drumming her fingers against the edge of the desk when I walked into her office.

The sunlight from the window framed her in silver, making her short hair look even sharper than usual.

“We need to start looking for a factory,” I said, getting straight to the point. “If we’re serious about scaling production, we can’t keep relying on just a small workshop. It’s not sustainable anymore.”

Grace smirked without looking up. “Oh? Funny. That’s exactly what Ryan said last week.”

I paused mid-step. “Ryan said that?”

She nodded, finally glancing at me. “Mm-hmm. He also suggested we look into automated assembly systems. You remember what you told him, don’t you? Something about ‘losing the human touch’?”

“I said it compromises artistry,” I corrected, too quickly. “Jewelry isn’t supposed to feel mass-produced.”

Grace chuckled. “Right. And now here you are, suggesting we move production to a factory. How’s that not mass-producing?”

“Because I’m talking about ethical producti

Ryan’s POVThe door to my father’s office slammed behind me harder than I intended. The sound ricocheted down the marble corridor. My pulse was still hammering from that conversation, the letter, the smugness, the deliberate calm in Maximilian’s voice.Every inch of it reeked of manipulation.I shoved the letter deeper into my jacket pocket, trying to steady my breathing. And that’s when I saw her.Vanessa Abrams. She was standing by the window, pretending to study her phone, but I could see the satisfaction in her smirk before she even looked up.Her hand rested delicately on her swollen belly, seven months along now, a performance in every sense of the word.“Ryan,” she said sweetly, tilting her head. “You look tense. Trouble in paradise?”I stopped a few feet away from her, jaw tightening. “That depends. Are you the paradise or the trouble?”She laughed, that soft, practiced laugh that never reached her eyes. “You should be careful with your tone. It’s unbecoming for someone who’s a

Ryan’s POVThe name Avalon Club wouldn’t leave my head.I’d typed it into every search engine I could think of but had gotten nothing. No website. No social media handles. No grainy Google reviews. Nothing except a defunct travel bar in Manchester and a fantasy-themed nightclub in Seoul that shut down a decade ago.If there was one thing I’d learned from my father, it was that the more invisible a name was, the more dangerous it became.I leaned back in my chair, tapping the edge of my laptop.Celeste had looked pale when she told me about the card, one small rectangle of glossy paper that now had half the atelier on edge. She’d tried to brush it off as an irrelevant clue, but something about the timing didn’t sit right with me.A break-in. A mysterious card. And now a business no one could trace. No, this wasn't a coincidence.I shut the laptop and reached for my jacket.I had other fires to put out tonight, namely, at Crown Luxe. The board had demanded an emergency review with our to

Celeste’s POVThe next morning, the studio buzzed with the soft clink of tools and the hum of conversation. The Association had done their investigation but they hadn’t reached a verdict yet, whatever that may be,Evelyn had assured me that it’ll all be fine. And so for the first time in weeks, I almost believed things were settling down. Then the glass doors opened, and Officer Raymond walked in, holding a bouquet of white lilies.Every sound in the room died. Even the air seemed to still.“Ms. Sinclair,” he said, his tone polite but uncertain. “I hope I’m not interrupting.”I blinked, startled. “Officer Raymond? No—of course not. Is something wrong?”Ryan’s voice cut through before he could answer. “Yeah, what brings you here—with flowers?”The bite in his tone could’ve split a diamond.Raymond hesitated, clearly aware of the audience.“Just a courtesy visit,” he said finally. “And the flowers are for you, Ms. Sinclair. You’ve had a difficult few weeks.”I took them automatically, fe

Celeste’s POVI knew the people from the International Jewelry Association would be back, but I wasn’t expecting it to be so soon.It hadn’t even been a week since they came barging into the office and Evelyn had to intervene, so I was a bit surprised when Evelyn called and told me that they provided the necessary paperwork that would allow them to legally audit Rosemary Atelier. When I looked up from my desk, three men in tailored suits stood in the doorway, holding clipboards and stamped folders embossed with the insignia of the International Jewelry Association.“Ms. Sinclair?” one of them asked. “We’re here on behalf of the Association to conduct the continued audit of Rosemary Atelier’s operations. We’ll need access to your design archives, supplier records, and production logs.”Behind them, Evelyn appeared, calm as a queen in litigation armor.“Of course,” she said before I could respond. “I’ll be representing Ms. Sinclair throughout the audit. You’ll find that everything is in

Celeste’s POVThe studio was quiet except for the rhythmic hum of the polishing wheel and the soft flick of my pencil against the sketchpad. The scent of metal and wax lingered in the air. It felt grounding after the chaos of the past few days.I was working on a new piece, something delicate and imperfect, like the breath between heartbeats. The door opened softly.Ryan’s reflection appeared in the glass of the display case before I turned to see him.His sleeves were rolled up, his shirt open at the throat, a fine sheen of fatigue on his skin.He looked unfairly good for someone who’d been running around all morning.“What are you working on?” he asked, his voice low, curious.I didn’t look up immediately, letting the pencil linger on the curve of a pendant.“A commission for one of the clients that didn’t cancel their order,” I said, the hint of sadness in my voice unmistakable. “It’s a custom order. Something with movement. Emotion.”He leaned closer, bracing a hand against the edg

Vanessa’s POVI hadn’t stepped foot in Maximilian’s office in two weeks. Not since the board started tearing into the blood diamond investigation, all thanks to the act I had put on.But today was different.Today, I had something he couldn’t ignore. When I walked in, his eyes lifted slowly from the papers in front of him.His face was filled with anger. I knew I had upset him by the little act I put in front of the board, but I had to get the upper hand so Maximilian thought twice before putting the blame on me for something he overlooked.“Mr. Edwards,” I started softly, one hand instinctively pressing against my belly. “I… I know you’re busy, but I really needed to talk to you.”He didn’t say anything for a moment, just leaned back in his chair and studied me like I was a puzzle he’d already solved.“You’ve been avoiding me, Vanessa.”My throat tightened deliberately. “I thought it would be best. After… everything.”“Hm.” His tone was dry. “And now?”I lowered my gaze, pretending to
