Ryan’s POV

The color drained from Celeste’s face as she processed Bonnie’s words. She was frozen in place, as pale as a sheet of paper, and I worried she might collapse. I immediately stood behind her, holding her arms carefully to support her.

“Celeste, are you okay?” I asked in a soft tone, my eyes scanning her face.

Her defeated gaze was glued on her daughter as she shook her head.

“Bonnie, is that truly what you want?” She choked back tears as she spoke. “Are you sure you don’t want to live with Mommy?”

The child gave a firm nod. “Yes. I want to live with Daddy and Auntie Vanessa.”

“That’s right, Bonnie.” Vanessa stroked the girl’s hair as she sneered at us. “We’re happy together, so stop disturbing our lives, Celeste. It’s getting old.”

The tears Celeste had been blinking back came streaming down her face. My heart ached as she covered her mouth and stepped out of my steadying hold. She turned and hurried away.

I was about to chase after her when Vanessa’s snarky words stopped

Celeste’s POVEverything was a mess. The kind you couldn’t fix with a few late nights or clever planning. This was the kind that seeped into the walls, into the emails piling in my inbox, into the way people looked at me when I walked into Rosemary.Orders were plummeting and the media was vicious.Worst of all, even Ryan, who had nothing to do with any of this, was now being dragged into the storm. One headline actually read:“Did Celeste Sinclair manipulate her Heir assistant into devotion?”As if I’d ever needed to force Ryan into anything. As if that man hadn’t built his own path beside mine by choice, not compulsion. But the public liked their stories messy, dramatic, and cruel. And they were more than happy to twist the tragedy of Grace and me into a narrative where I was the villain pulling strings.I hadn’t slept properly in two days. I barely ate. Even Molly tiptoed around me, sensing the heaviness I carried like wet cloth clinging to my skin. And Grace…After taking the morni

Vanessa’s POVMrs. Collins’s penthouse was exactly what I expected, marble floors so white they almost glowed.Only the elite of the jewelry world, the critics who mattered, the judges who would shape the next decade of design acclaim. And, of course, me.Eight months pregnant and still, effortlessly, the most put-together woman in the room.I stepped inside with Melissa right behind me, more for show than necessity. But people soften around a pregnant woman, and I wasn’t above using that softness if it meant winning.“Vanessa, darling,” Mrs. Collins greeted, her smile warm but her eyes sharp, calculating. “I’m so glad you made it.”I returned the smile sweetly. “Wouldn’t miss it for the world. Thank you so much for inviting me.”Manipulation wasn’t just about words, it was tone, posture, the exact tilt of one’s head. Mine was perfect. The room quieted as I entered, just briefly. Enough to let the whisper pass through the crowd:Crown Luxe’s rising star. The pregnant genius designer.M

Celeste’s POVThe notification lit up my phone just as I was reviewing gemstone orders in my office, and I ignored it as I usually did.If it was anything important then Ryan or Rachel would let me know. So, I ignored the next couple of notifications as well.I didn’t think to check until Ryan pushed open the door to my studio, his face ashen.“What is it?” I asked with a frown.Ryan silently walked over and placed his phone on the table.Squinting, I read the headline.“Inside the Cracks of Rosemary Atelier — An Exclusive with Celeste Sinclair and Grace Matthews.”My stomach turned to ice.The interview. The one we never finished. The one where Grace and I had kept interrupting each other, clipped too sharply, our frustration leaking between the words like poison. The one where I’d told the interviewer, as calmly as I could manage, that we weren’t continuing with the interview, we hadn’t even finished it and not to publish it.She had nodded sympathetically with a promise of professio

Celeste’s POVThe weekend was spent so well that I almost didn’t want to go to work the next morning.I didn’t even realize when I had started considering Rosemary as work and not art that I created. This was worse than I thought.Still, I got up early in the morning, already missing Ryan loitering around my apartment.I dropped Molly off at her art studio, but before she went inside, I knelt down beside her.“Do you think we should go visit the school next week?” I asked her. We’d talked about it but I just needed one last conversation. When Molly nodded and skipped inside, the first thing I did was calling Vivian.“I cannot believe this, Celeste,” Vivian whispered. I could see tears in her eyes through the screen. “I miss her so much but when I hear how happy she is with you, I know I made the right decision.”I smiled at her warmly, “She misses you too, Viv. Just yesterday she drew a picture of you and Steven. I’ll send it to you as a keepsake.”“I’d appreciate that. Things have bee

Grace’s POVSomething was wrong with Gideon.I didn’t want to admit it at first. I kept telling myself he was just tired, or stressed, maybe overwhelmed with the sudden jump in workload after Jenny… left.My mind didn’t want to land on the truth, so it tiptoed around it, inventing softer explanations. But the signs were everywhere. He’d disappear for hours without telling me where he was.Come back with that too-bright smile, like he’d just wiped something off his face. He’d get irritated if I asked normal questions. Where were you? Did you eat? Are you okay? Then, two hours later, he’d be the sweetest man alive, rubbing my back, making me tea, telling me he adored me.Whiplash, wrapped in charm. And I told myself I was imagining it because chaos had already torn a hole through Rosemary and through Celeste’s heart.I didn’t want to add my own mess to hers. But pretending didn’t stop the cracks from getting wider. It started with his absences. Late nights and early mornings.A phone he

Celeste’s POVI didn’t plan to leave the house on Saturday.Honestly, I barely planned to leave my bed.I felt guilty for neglecting Molly the past couple of days, so I’d asked Ryan to stay and spend time with Molly on Friday evening. He crashed in the guest bedroom because Molly said she wanted to spend more time with him. We’d kept our distance of course, because Molly was here.Come to think of it, we hadn’t done anything more than make out in the few, short moments we got to ourselves.Well, that would have to change because I could feel the distance between us.We weren’t growing apart, no, but every moment I spent with him, not pressed into his side, the more that invisible string between us tightened, making me want to give it all up just to spend some time in Ryan’s arms.God, I was turning into a hopeless romantic.Around ten in the morning, there was a knock on my bedroom door. Not the sharp, impatient kind Molly does when she wants breakfast, even though she’s perfectly capa
