Celeste’s POV

Jenny pressed the send button on the newsletter for the third time and then sat back as if she’d run out of breath.

“It’s done. Finally.” Her voice was small with relief and a ridiculous, proud smile played at the corner of her mouth.

The line we’d modelled, female strength and friendship, the campaign that had been Jenny’s idea weeks ago, was finally going public.

We’d shelved it after the circus at Ryan’s engagement party and then the audit had been a roadblock, but now the world would see it.

Jenny’s inbox was already pinging. “A major magazine wants an interview. They want you and Grace together.”

Grace’s lips tightened.

Her eyes flicked to me with that complicated thing between us.

I felt my stomach roll under the old worry.

We’d been tense since the lock-and-break argument.

The silence hadn’t fixed anything. Press interviews were tidy on paper and jagged in truth.

“What do you want me to say?” I asked, because asking was easier than feeling.

“Tell the truth,” Jenny

  • No Way to Win Me Back   Chapter 575

Ryan’s POVI found him in his office after the building had emptied, the way it always did when something irreversible had happened.Crown Luxe at night was a different creature, quiet, echoing, stripped of the performance it put on during the day. The lights along the corridor were dimmed, the carpet muffling my footsteps as I walked toward the door that had once felt untouchable. It was open.Maximilian stood with his back to me, jacket discarded over the chair, hands braced against the desk as he stared out at the city. He looked smaller like that. Not diminished, just human in a way I’d never been allowed to see growing up.“You don’t need to pretend I’m not here,” I said.He didn’t turn around. “I didn’t.”I closed the door behind me. The click sounded louder than it should have.“I didn’t come to gloat,” I said. “And I didn’t come to argue.”“Then why are you here?” he asked, finally turning. His face was composed, but his eyes were sharp, searching for weakness. “To finish the j

Maximilian’s POVI watched the press conference from my office, the sound muted, the captions crawling along the bottom of the screen like a verdict being read aloud in a language I didn’t recognize as my own.Ryan stood at the podium with the Crown Luxe emblem behind him.My emblem.Straight-backed. Calm. Surgical.I had taught him that posture. Corrected it when he was a boy. Told him that power was communicated before a single word left your mouth. Now he used it against me with a precision that made my chest ache.First the International Jewelry Association.I could still feel the weight of that room, the way the votes tipped, the way hands I had shaken for decades lifted without hesitation. No debate. No loyalty. Just numbers. Procedure. A majority that had decided I was no longer useful.Chairman, they had called me. As if it were a favor they could revoke. And now this.Crown Luxe.My son’s voice moved steadily across the screen, explaining my failures as if they were case studi

Ryan’s POVThe room was already full when I stepped up to the podium.Cameras. Microphones. Faces sharpened with expectation. I recognized most of them, industry journalists, financial analysts, a few people who had built careers off my father’s name. Crown Luxe loomed behind me in gold lettering, a logo I’d grown up tracing with my finger on glossy brochures.Maximilian Edwards. My father. Current CEO of Crown Luxe.I adjusted the microphone once, more out of habit than nerves. I wasn’t nervous. I’d burned through that weeks ago, somewhere between the third wire transfer and the email that proved intent.“Thank you for coming,” I said evenly. “I’ll get straight to it.”The room quieted. Pens hovered. Red recording lights blinked to life.“For the past two months, I’ve been conducting an internal investigation into Crown Luxe’s executive operations,” I continued. “What I found makes it impossible for me to remain silent.”I didn’t look for my father. I knew where he was, watching from

  • No Way to Win Me Back   Chapter 572

Celeste’s POVThe news broke quietly at first, the way earthquakes do, one unread notification, one muted headline sliding across my phone while I was reviewing sketches that refused to settle into anything coherent.RYAN EDWARDS TO HOLD PRESS CONFERENCE.No subject line. No preview. Just a time, a place, and his name.I stared at it longer than I should have.Ryan didn’t do anything vague. He didn’t summon the press unless something needed to be said clearly, definitively, and only once. There were people in this industry who thrived on spectacle, leaks, whispers, drawn-out scandals. Ryan wasn’t one of them.My chest tightened with a familiar, unwelcome instinct. The one that came just before impact. This wasn't a corporate theater. This was a reckoning.Grace noticed my stillness before I said anything. She had been hovering near my desk under the pretense of reviewing supplier updates, but her eyes had been on me, perceptive as always.“What’s wrong?” she asked.I turned my phone so

  • No Way to Win Me Back   Chapter 571

Ryan’s POVI sat alone in my study with the city spread out beneath the windows, lights flickering like a living thing that didn’t care what I was about to do. The room smelled faintly of leather and old whiskey, untouched on the desk. I hadn’t poured myself a drink in days. I didn’t trust my hands not to shake. Two months’ worth of evidence lay open in front of me.Emails first. That had been how it started, harmless enough, at least on the surface. Vanessa’s tone had always been deferential when she wrote to my father. Strategic flattery. Carefully placed admiration. She never ordered him. She nudged. Suggested. Framed every move as protection of Crown Luxe, as loyalty, as inevitability. And Maximilian, my father, had answered. Not with resistance. Not with caution. With approval.I scrolled slowly, my jaw tightening as I reread messages I already knew by heart.Celeste is getting too much traction at IJA.Rosemary’s supply chain is vulnerable. You were right to let me handle it.You

  • No Way to Win Me Back   Chapter 570

Celeste’s POVThe quiet came later. Not in the boardroom, not under the chandeliers or the weight of scrutiny, but hours afterward, when the city had softened into dusk and the adrenaline finally loosened its grip on my spine.I stood alone by the window of my office at Rosemary Atelier, the lights dimmed, the worktables resting like loyal animals after a long day. For the first time since the IJA announcement went public, I allowed myself to feel it.I had survived Maximilian Edwards. Not by outmaneuvering him in secret, not by borrowing someone else’s power, not by being protected into legitimacy, but by standing where he stood and not yielding. The thought settled slowly, like warm water around cold hands. There had been moments I thought he would crush me without ever lifting a finger. That his influence would erase me quietly, efficiently, with signatures and whispers. He had tried. And still, here I was.Chairman.The word still felt unreal when I said it in my head. Not triumpha
