Chapter nine

I was so happy to be back home at my pack finally. Victoria seemed content to be close to me, and I was pleased to find my good friend, Helen, nearby. She would help Victoria settle in, and they could become good friends.

I knew that Victoria was timid, and inside I was furious at how badly she had been treated. That would never happen to her again.

Not ever.

Helen knocked on my office door, and I permitted her to enter.

She bowed as soon as she came in.

“How is she?” I looked up from my paperwork to see Helen looking extremely uncomfortable.

“Alpha Alex, I do not know how to tell you this. But Victoria seems to be upset. She thinks that she should not be entitled to any of this. What is going on?” Helen exclaimed, taking a seat opposite me. I threw the pen down, sat back and sighed, rubbing my forehead.

It did not surprise me since she had been through hell and back at that sorry excuse of a pack.

“I will go and see her.” I stood up and went to leave the office. Helen followed me out, and we both looked up, surprised to see Victoria looking tearful. She was clutching her bag.

“What is going on?” I demanded to know since it looked like she wanted to leave.

“I am sorry; I didn’t want to be in the way.” She said feebly, and I growled. I instantly felt terrible since she shook with fear and began to cry.

Helen gave me a look and immediately went to hug my mate. I was not sure how to handle this situation without getting mad.

I wanted to go back and rip that pack apart for every bad thing that they had forced my poor mate to go through.

At least she was safe here with me now. Nobody would hurt her.

“You are safe here, Victoria,” I assured her, and she looked up at me with huge saucer eyes.

“Alpha Alex is right. You are safe here, and we will look after you. Would you like to grab some food with me? We can chat?” Helen suggested with a big friendly smile.

I could always rely on Helen to help with anything. She was a great friend, and I appreciate her, especially now.

“Yes, please. If that is ok?” Victoria turned to me as if waiting for my approval.

“You do not need my permission, my dear. Go have fun, and I will see you shortly.” I told her, and she broke into a smile which pleased me to see.

Helen nodded and led Victoria away.

Now I was going to find my beta and devise a plan to get revenge on that horrible pack.

They would pay for what they had done!
