Aiden’s pov

When I got into her office. Luna Eden was behind her desk with a corny smile.

“Oh dear Aiden….. you never listen do you?” She told me.

I was beginning to wonder what I had done wrong to make her speak this way. What could possibly be my offense.

“Luna Eden…” I bowed as I walked to take a seat across from her.

She sighs heavily.

“Do you know why I called you here?” She asked me.

I was clueless, even thinking of everything, I had not done anything to make her call me privately, I didn

Mathew’s pov Everyone in our world knows how a gifting ceremony works. It’s all about bestowing blessings, but the tradition comes with strict rules. The celebrant, in this case, a she wolf receives gifts from a chosen list of invited guests, specifically mated couples as her peers, done few weeks before her mating ceremony. During the ceremony, male wolves gather to spend time with the groom to be, offering gifts to honor the upcoming mating ceremony, while she wolves gather with the bride to be to share wisdom and present their own offerings. It is widely believed that these gifts carry powerful blessings for the couple's future bond. I didn't have a mate, yet I had received an invitation. That placed me in Rayna's good graces and Lila, surprisingly, had been invited too. I assumed I was included because I was Aiden’s best friend. But as for Lila? I had no idea what Rayna was plotting. I needed to figure out her angle and add a little spice to it. That’s where I came in. A littl

Mathew’s povAfter taking Lila to the clothing store to pick out an outfit for tonight, I had to leave her in a hurry following an emergency call from home. It wasn't just any ordinary call it was my brother and I could hear him sobbing and sniffing on the other end of the line. I tried to get him to tell me what was happening, but his breathless words only made me feel more terrified.“What’s wrong?” I demanded but Oscar just kept crying, his voice trembling uncontrollably.“Talk to me... Please!” I tried to press him into giving me a straight answer but he remained silent, unable to speak through his sobs. I was boiling over in fear and terror. I began pacing the store floors, on the verge of shouting into the speaker, when he finally gasped out a sentence.“Can you... can you come home right now?” he asked in a low, frightened whisper.“I’ll be there in a few minutes,” I promised, hanging up immediately.I bade Lila a rushed farewell, paid for the dress at the counter and bolted fo

Lila’s povI was terrified to show up looking like this. I looked nothing like my usual self; standing in front of the mirror, I felt as though I was staring at a complete stranger. It was a version of myself I wasn't familiar with at all.If there had been any way to skip tonight, I would have taken it in a heartbeat. But given my situation, showing up was the lesser of two evils. It was the only thing that would save me from a world of trouble.I had originally intended to wear the dress Mathew picked out, even though I hated it. But Aiden’s package had everything for guess out, it actually saved the day. He was truly my guardian angel, stepping in to lift the weight whenever I felt overwhelmed, always acting as the light in my darkest hours. Fuck what am I saying? Now back to focus.Looking down at the gown after putting it on, the fabric had just enough stretch to fit me perfectly without feeling suffocating. I briefly wondered how on earth he knew my exact measurements, but the e

Lila’s pov As she stood there, everything else in the room seemed to fade away. The only thing that mattered was the creation standing at the door. I was spellbound by the beauty she had been hiding under layers of oversized clothes, right up until someone bumped into my shoulder, snapping me out of my trance. It was Rayna, pushing past me in a huff. “You’re late,” Rayna snapped, her voice dripping with irritation. “I... I’m sorry...” Lila’s voice trembled slightly. “Traffic was... bad.” That was all she could manage. The entire hall had fallen into an awkward silence as guests turned to stare was they had been captured by her beauty. I couldn't blame them, I was a victim too. “Then you should have waited until after my speech,” Rayna shot back, glaring at her before turning on her heel. “Some entrances don't require an audience,” she muttered loudly as she walked away. It was almost laughable watching Rayna burn with jealousy over someone like Lila. Once the tension eased and

Aiden’s pov “Why on earth would you even think of doing something like that?” she asked, stepping over to stand directly in front of me. I as a bit ashamed of my actions but I forced my face to stay blank. Slowly, I pulled the pink card back out of my pocket and dropped it onto the silver tray. Luna Eden stared at the card for a moment before picking it up. As her eyes fell on the name written across the front, she let out a heavy sigh. “I thought we had already put her issue behind us,” she said, placing the card back down. “Why are you trying to hide her invitation?” I stayed quiet, unable to construct a quick excuse that wouldn't sound suspicious. “Are you two hiding something from me?” she pressed, her tone turning sharp. My head snapped up instantly. I couldn't let an accusation like that take root for even a second. “No,” I answered firmly. But knowing a single word wouldn't satisfy her, I added, “I just don't think it’s a good idea to invite her to something like this.

Aiden’s pov This whole gifting party would have been avoided but it all happened just after my fight with Lila. When I finally got back home that night after visiting Lila, I was exhausted. Fighting with her had taken everything out of me. I had no idea why she had reacted the way she did or why her mind went straight to the worst assumptions, but I was just relieved she had listened to reason. I had my suspicions, though, I was almost certain Mathew was pulling the strings behind her sudden outburst, even if I couldn't prove it just yet. Stepping into the house, I hoped for the simple mercy of crashing straight into bed like I had earlier. No Dad, no Rayna. But my luck ran out fast. Rayna was waiting, ready with a brand new wave of drama. The moment the front door swung shut, I saw her standing at the top of the stairs. As soon as her eyes landed on me, she ran down to meet me, looking as though she’d been pacing for hours. “Hey...” she gasped, breathless as she closed the dis
