Lila’s pov

It was Aiden.

He held my arm mid air, his eyes blazing with a warning so clear anyone could read it: Don’t you dare.

He didn’t say a word, but the message came through loud and clear. The moment his grip loosened slightly, I yanked my arm back from his hand.

"Don’t..." His voice was low and commanding, but I wasn't in the mood to listen.

Why was he suddenly defending her?

I spun back toward Rayna, ready to make my move anyway. Before I could take a step, Aiden grabbed my shoul

Aiden’s pov As soon as the boys walked out, Lila pulled her hands away from mine with force. A sudden coldness feeling washed over me, as if something vital had been ripped right out of my chest. "You need to stay away from me, Aiden," she said quietly, turning to walk off. "Lila..." I called after her, but she didn't slow down. "Lila, wait!!” I rushed up ahead and stepped directly into her path. "Gosh, Aiden, what is wrong with you?" she snapped, looking at me like she was trying to decode a puzzle. "One moment you're the enemy, the next you're my savior, and now you're acting like a possessed maniac." She looked at my face, searching for a sign of sanity. I didn't care how unstable I looked, I just wanted her to calm down and hear me out. "I'm... I'm sorry," the words tumbled out as I lowered my gaze to the floor. I was a total mess, completely out of control, like I was losing my grip on my own mind. She tried to push past me again in a tense, hostile mood, and I moved to

Aiden’s pov I got home early, I didn’t need anyone’s company, I already had too much for the day. As soon as I called my driver, he pulled up to pick me up, and the moment I stepped inside the house, I locked myself in my room. I needed space to breathe, there had been way too much drama for one day. I stayed locked up for a while, asked one of the maids to prepare a decent meal for me before my dad returned, I had no intention of dining with him tonight, I just needed some time to myself, didn’t even know when the sun went down when I was all alone locked up in my room until I heard a voice. “Young master…you meal is getting cold”. The young maid told me in a weak tone from outside. I had forgotten about what I ordered for. “We could bring it upstairs if you like…” she asked me. “No….I’ll be down soon”. I couldn’t keep locking up myself when everything goes south. I have to man up, one day I’ll be the leader of all packs. I can’t keep being this soft, I went downstairs to eat

  • Not my spec   Chapter 68

Mathew’s pov I walked away boldly feeling relieved. My steps were more confident. Everything was back on track. Aiden either loses or loses, because there is no way in hell I was going to let him win. When lunch rolled around, neither of them showed up. I sat with the rest of the guys, my eyes glued to the cafeteria doors, waiting for Aiden and Lila to walk in but they never did. I couldn't stop my mind from thinking, wondering what they were up to. The guys kept chatting around me, but their voices blurred into background noise as I stared very focused at the entrance, waiting for Aiden to appear. Maybe he might come with a fight and a struggle to hit me or maybe walk in and never look my way. Whichever way, the scene might still be ugly, I just needed to have my eyes on him. I picked at my fries until my brother suddenly blocked my view, sitting down across from me. "I know that look... still plotting”. Oscar said in a low voice, leaning over the table while the rest of the gro

  • Not my spec   Chapter 67

Aiden’s pov Now that I thought about it, Matthew was right. I was the one who set the standard in the first place, so I couldn't go back on the rules I had created. They always say a man builds the tools of his own demise, and that was exactly what I had done, made a rule that could ruin me. My eyes drifted back to Rayna, and I questioned my own heart. Why can't I just love her? She had everything I usually liked in a girl, a pretty face, height, long legs, perfect curves, flawless fair skin, and soft hair. And her voice? It was smooth enough to compel anyone to fall for her. Then there was Lila, a girl who seemed more like one of the guys at first glance. I studied her face but damn she had a pretty child like face, not quite catchy at the first instance but grew more beautiful as the days passed by. Her skin said a lot from where she came from but couldn’t deny that it was still gorgeous, legs? I looked at her legs, how could I tell how straight they are hiding under those big j

  • Not my spec   Chapter 66

Lila’s pov Everyone else had cleared out, but I stood frozen in place, watching the drama unfold. Whatever was happening looked serious and Aiden was in the middle, making my interest even hyped. I hadn't even noticed Rayna standing right beside me. I didn’t care, my mind was fixed on the grand scene before me. Whatever was going on, it was dead serious. I could read it in their sharp body language even without hearing the words. They spoke in muted tones, I could see their lips moving, but not a single sound reached my ears. Then, a sudden, heavy silence fell over the room. The subtle gestures stopped. Every eye in the circle turned directly toward Rayna and me. Before I could react, Aiden charged toward us, his face flushed with deep concentration. His steps were long and fast. I couldn't tell which one of us he was targeting until his hand clamped tightly around my forearm. He dragged me forward, and I stumbled after him without any leverage to resist. Unable to break his steel

  • Not my spec   Chapter 65

Mathew’s pov After talking to Aiden at his place, I had no choice but to head home. My heart felt heavy with the turn his decision had taken. He was a good friend, in fact he was my brother but I needed him to fail if I wanted to rise. This was my only chance, I had to do this for myself and my brother. This was the only chance I had to make my dad proud of me. I drove home in silence thinking of what next to do but my head was empty with ideas. It was already late by the time I walked into the house. In the dining room, my dad and Oscar were sitting together, having dinner. "Evening to you, Matthew..." my dad acknowledged my presence without looking up, his hands working a set of silver cutlery against a serving of roasted chicken on a silver platter. "Evening, sir," I replied, my voice flat and cool. I stopped right where I stood. Oscar stopped eating immediately, his eyes locking onto mine, noticing the shift in my mood. Dad picked up on the cold shift in the room and paused
