Chapter 3 There Won't Be a Wedding

Author: Nora Blythe
Perhaps out of spite, Anastasia did not come home for several days.

My friends who went to the announcement party messaged me from time to time.

According to them, she was with George the whole time.

They were worried that it would crush me, but I was already used to it.

I didn't reach out to her. Instead, I threw the unfinished wedding invitations into the bin.

Finally, she came home one week later.

Her expression was complicated when she met my eyes.

"I was with George. His business is facing some issues, so I offered help. Nothing else happened between us." She explained herself even though I had not asked.

I no longer cared about her life, so I simply nodded.

She pursed her lips at my lack of reaction.

Wrapping her arms around my waist from behind, she rested her forehead against my back. Being enveloped by her warmth made my fingers clench.

"Why didn't you call me home this time? Aren't you worried about my safety? What happened during the party was George's prank. I didn't know he was going to play the video. I admit my mistakes, but you and I are married now. Can't you show me a little more trust? There's nothing between George and me."

She poured out the explanation in one breath. The faster she spoke, the more panicked she was.

Suddenly, I remembered the time I suggested we break up. She reacted the same way back then, terrified that I would leave her.

I pulled away from her and said indifferently, "I understand. I never suggested anything happened between you."

She frowned at my unenthusiastic answer. She let out a helpless sigh and continued. "Let's hold the wedding as we planned. We'll go to Icstan for our honeymoon. You once said you wanted to see the aurora, didn't you? It has the most beautiful view in the world."

I remembered telling her that in the past.

Back then, silence was the only answer I got. When she finally replied, she said, "We'll talk about it another time."

Sure. An aurora was undeniably beautiful, but she had already seen that with George.

"There won't be a wedding," I calmly announced.

At that, her eyes widened in disbelief. "What does it mean? Are you still holding a grudge over a harmless prank? Haven't I told you—"

She had always thought I was not generous enough. When it came to George, nothing I did was ever right in her eyes.

Slightly annoyed, I raised a hand to cut her off. "I just feel there's no need for a wedding."

She opened her mouth. Before she could say something, a knock on the door interrupted her.

The door was not shut properly. George stepped inside and knocked on the door with a smile.

His gaze brushed past me and landed on Anastasia's face. "Annie, it's time to pick out your wedding dress. Let's go."

Finally, she snapped back to reality. She turned to me abruptly. "Wyatt, George had studied design abroad. I only asked him to help me choose my wedding dress because I believe in his taste. We planned it long ago…"

Without waiting for my answer, he put an arm around her shoulder and affectionately pinched her earlobe. "Don't worry. Wyatt is an understanding guy. After all, the two of you are married. I'm nobody but your ex."

He pushed her out of the door and turned to me. "Wyatt, you won't mind, will you? I'll make sure she comes home in one piece."

He did not need to hear my reply.

Before he exited, he was surprised to find a cute mug on the cabinet.

"Is Anastasia still keeping this? We made it together during a trip to the pottery studio. I thought she had thrown it away long ago."

I remembered the mug very well.

I thought it was hideous when I first found it. She caught me when I wanted to get rid of it.

That day, she lost her temper and slapped me because of it.

Now, Anastasia clearly could not bear for him to say another word. She dragged him out of the house.

She did not dare to meet my eyes. Before leaving, she only said, "I'll make it quick and explain everything when I come back. I won't agree to a divorce, and I won't let you leave me. I'll fix everything."

Come back with me, and we can have our wedding at any time."Afraid that I would refuse, she spoke each w

Lately, Anastasia had been trying to dig up information from the divorce lawyer, but the lawyer remained tight-lipped about Wyatt's whereabouts. She finally got a breakthrough when George visited her."Annie, if a divorce is what Wyatt wants, why don't you give him that? After all, your wedding has been delayed for too long. Leaving during such a critical moment proves that he's irresponsible. It's better to divorce him."In the past, she never stood up for Wyatt when George belittled him.But today, it struck a nerve. She raised her head and glared at the other man, stating, "He remembers my preference throughout our dating history. If I so much as glanced at something twice, he would buy it for me. I'm not going to divorce a man like him!"Only after the words left her mouth did Anastasia realize something. She remembered everything. Every moment Wyatt had cared for her over the years. After being scolded by her, a flicker of hatred flashed through George's eyes.He pulled ou

After making breakfast for Wyatt like usual, Anastasia left the house and went to George's place."Annie, are the two of you really having a wedding? Did you forget what you promised me? I fulfilled my promise to you… And you?"He hooked a finger around her ring finger.
