Chapter 4
After the long hours of work and a lot of thinking, Meredith Bloom looked up at the sky and released a curse when the first drop of water latched onto her skin. There is no way she would be walking into the rain and risked getting soaked from the pouring. So much has happened in a day and she wasn't sure if she could have another shock. Lord knows her poor heart couldn't handle it.
She opted to wait for the rain to stop instead of running around like a madwoman. She stood by the front of the building finding no harm in it.
A few minutes passed but the sky didn't seem to stop crying, It's almost close to four that got her worried because she would be home late if she continued to wait for the rain to stop pouring. Gearing up her bag on her shoulder, She ran out of the shelter and got herself drenched in a span of a minute.
Somewhere along her walking, a Mercedes stopped in front of her, halting her steps. She tried to walk away but the window slid down revealing Gray who looked at her with nothing but annoyance. She resisted the urge to roll her eyes but stopped when she remembered that the man was her boss.
“Meredith Bloom, Get in!” She heard him forcing the words out. Her nostrils flared at the use of her full name but didn't comment on it.
Gray eyes fell on the chest part of her transparent blouse. He couldn't look away although he found the girl so annoying, especially when he caught her sleeping on the first day of her work.
“Thank you Mr Gray, but I'll take the bus” She shouted in order to be heard over the rain.
With a nod Gray rolled up his windows but then he shrugged his suit off, offering to the clueless black hair women.
“You might want to cover your chest... although there's not much to look at” he couldn't help but add. Meredith gasped inwardly, blushing like crazy because not only is his comment plain rude but this man doesn't seem to have any recollection of their night. She doesn't understand why there was a tightness in her chest. The only reasonable conclusion is that he didn't recognise her because she’s twice her size a year ago.
Gray threw the suit carelessly landing on her face and before she could react, Gray drove away with a frown plastered on his face.
Waking up the next morning , Meredith's head was heavy with dizziness and her mind clouded with the thought of her new boss. She wanted to bang her head because it meant she could stop thinking about Gray Westmore.
When she entered her office, she went to greet the receptionist but was met with an unusual scene. An older woman and a little boy were talking with the receptionist who she came to know as Jane.
“Please just tell him that his mother and his son are here. I don't understand why I’m not allowed to visit my own son at his workplace” the older woman exclaimed with an irritated scowl. Meredith stepped closer towards them with a slightly concerned thought. She felt bad that Jane was shaking her head vigorously at the older woman's request.
She shouldn't have interfered and she knew that she would regret later but curiosity got the better of her like always. She tapped the woman who's sighing with hands on her hip.
“Hey there!” She chirped with a polite smile, the smile that always won over the hearts of many older women.
Jenna turned to see the woman who had tapped her, her face instantly blossoming to a wide smile when her eyes landed on the sweet, beautiful black hair Goddess. Her keen motherly eyes drink in the feature of the young woman who seemed as kind and lovely as her dead daughter-in-law.
“Hello, Do you work here?” Jenna asked directly, not bothering to cover up her curiosity. She's always been a direct woman and doesn't tolerate bullshitting.
Meredith was taken back by her bluntness but found herself nodding. Something flickered in Jenna's eyes and then it was gone in a blink of an eye.
“Could you please help me with something? You see, my grandson wanted to see his daddy but I didn't know the security was so tight. Could you please take him to my son? I could do it by myself but I have to run somewhere quick…” she trailed off looking incredibly regretful. Meredith looked down at the little guy who seemed to be lost in his own world, scanning around the unfamiliar building with an awestruck look on his face.
“I can do that. Could you please tell me his name and which floor he stays on?” Meredith asked Jenna, unaware of the scheming the older woman is playing at.
It wasn't usual for Jenna to play as a matchmaker but Meredith has that effect on older womens who wanted a sweet and beautiful woman
as their son's wife.
“Sure. What is your name darling?” Jenna asked, with an innocent look.
“It’s Meredith Ma’am. Call me Meredith” She says with a beam, her eyes casting towards Little Noah who peered up at her like a deer.
“Lovely! Here is his floor and his name”Jenna handed her a small slip of paper into Meredith palms. Jenna turned towards her grandson,“ Noah baby, Aunty Meredith will take you to your dad alright. Don't be naughty okay”
She taught her grandson and kissed him on his cheek. At the small affection, the two year old little guy waved his grandma's goodbye when she walked away with a satisfied grin.
“Come on Little buddy, let's get you to daddy” Meredith took hold of Noah's little hands and then they were off to the twelfth floor.
The duo struggled to find the right room since the walls and design looked the same. Noah is a cute little guy with dark brown hair and his features...Meredith felt as though she had seen him somewhere but couldn't point out her confusion.
She opened the slip of the paper with her left hand since her right were tightly enclosed around Noah's tiny hands. She almost screamed when she saw Gray's name on the small paper. Gray Westmore, twelfth floor!
What the hell is happening? Her eyes darted between the small piece of paper and Noah's confused face at her sudden shock. The more she looked at him, the more he resembled her gorgeous boss. An unwelcome tightness in her chest brought her out of her trance. Surely, he isn't married! But how is it possible that he got a son without a wife!? She rolled her eyes at her own thoughts. She couldn't believe that the man who bedded her a year ago is married and has a two year old son who is absolutely adorable and cute- one of the reasons why she even agreed to help Jenna in the first place.
“Noah! Why do you have to be Gray’s son!?” She muttered under her breath.
Gray’s secretary stood up from her seat looking extremely shocked at the duo. Rebecca is a forty year old woman who worked under Gray for five years, She's an Incredibly sweet woman and is fully talented in her work. But she wasn't prepared to see Little Noah and Meredith walking hand in hand towards her.
“Miss Florence,Can you please give Noah to Mr Gray? His grandmother had requested to take Noah to his dad” Meredith was blushing which wasn't unusual to Rebecca. Her boss was a gorgeous male with the personality of a stubborn mule and she couldn't understand why young girls fantasize and worship the ground he walks on.
“Sure,Give me a minute” She replied and within seconds, she picked up her telephone and called the man in question. Rebecca informed him of the situation and nodded occasionally, glancing back and forth between the two confused faces.
Meredith wanted to flee as soon as possible. She sighed in relief when Rebecca hung up the phone.
“Thank you so much Rebecca, I'll leave you to him then” She unclasped Noah’s tight grip, smiling down at his adorable face.
“Go to your dad okay” She couldn't help but peck at his chubby cheeks. This was normal for Meredith Because she loves kids, partly because she used to hang out with kids in the park in times of loneliness.
“Uh- Miss Bloom?” She turned her head towards Rebecca, “Mr Westmore asked you to bring Noah to him” Her knees felt wobbly and weak and her heart almost dropped to the floor.
Chapter 22“Daddy Louis!” It was Noah who broke out of his confusion and ran towards his father. Jenna wasn't smiling anymore. Instead, she stared at her son, seemingly confused at his sudden appearance. I watched Gray's twin pick his son up and laugh when Noah said something in his ears. It made me wonder how Noah called both Gray his dad and Louis ‘Daddy Louis’ “Louis. What are you doing here?” Jenna took a step towards the father-son pair. Her tone slightly changes with her questions. It was so different from how she speaks with Gray and that intrigued me. Maybe it was because Gray had warned me that his brother was dangerous. The desire to find out about this man shocked me to the core. “Hi Mom,” Jenna took the whole introduction thingy to a whole level. She cleared her throat, “Oh right. This is Meredith, Louis.” At the mention of my name, his eyes shine with interest. He looks so kind and giddy, although he has the same face as his brother, I came to n
Chapter 21It happened before I could even react, Gray was beside us in a flash. I don't know how things escalated that quick but One second, Zachary was kneeling beside me, and the next Second, he was being yanked up by Gray and they were in each other's faces. I jumped in shock and went instantly towards Zachary’s side trying to pull them apart which made Grey's seem even madder. “Oh My God. What are you guys doing? Gray! Let him go.” I shouted, scared that Zachary will get a punch without deserving it. “She’s not yours to touch,” Gray growled in Zachary’s face. I flinched at the anger in his voice. With much reluctance, Gray lets go of Zachary Collar but the latter is not having it. He growled and looked in my direction. “Meredith is not yours either. She and I went way back. It's not your business to act like the way you did.” It's obvious that Zachary was caught off guard with the way Gray reacted considering
Chapter 20 Shit! shit! Shit! I realized that I didn't live alone anymore only When Gray dropped me at my apartment. How irresponsible of me to completely forget about my dear brother!? I only hope he didn't notice, which is wishful thinking. Of Course, He would notice! Slowly, I tiptoe inside my apartment, shutting the door. When I turned back, I screamed in horror seeing Ruth and Jonathan standing in the living room with arms folded in front of their chest. Ruth smiled evilly but Jonathan looked angry and his glare made me want to run out of my place. Anywhere that wasn't within his reach. “WHERE…THE …FUCK …HAVE…YOU…BEEN!?” Okay, I take back my words. He's in his maniac mode. The only time he has ever been this angry is when our old neighbor stole his puppy. The image of my old neighbor's bloody nose flashed in my head at that moment. “Get in here!” He roared at me. It didn't take seconds for me to scramble towards him.“I am so
Chapter 19 I groaned in horror when I opened my eyes and was attacked with a killer headache when morning arrived. I was alone in Gray's bed wearing only my bra and panties, although We didn't have any sex last night, the guit starts to creep in, I felt uncomfortable to be lying awake in Melissa's fiancee bed. (That wasn't what you were thinking last night when you were ready to jump into the bed with him) I wish I could turn off my brain for at least a day so that I would stop feeling so bad. But what is done is done, I went with Gray willingly and obsessing over Why I shouldn't have done it won't erase the last twenty four hours. ‘It makes the world less unbearable If I am with you and I am addicted to you’ Gray words from last night echoed in my ears, I couldn't stop the butterflies fluttering in my belly. I was sure there was a wide grin on my face. “What are you thinking about?” Speak of the devil. Gray was watching me with arms crossed over his chest at the
Chapter 18 Our Kiss doesn't last as long as I had hoped. We are interrupted by banging and cursing from the other side of the door. Gray doesn't let go of me even after I tried to push him away. He was relentless and held me still to his chest until the banging stopped and we heard the sounds of feet walking away. “Do you want to come to my place tonight?” He asked me, his blue orbs trying to figure me out. I wanted to lash at him, and slap his cheek at his suggestion but something about his gaze told me that he wasn't expecting sex but I don't make it easy for him. “Why Would I come to your place?” I asked, instead. He looked almost embarrassed at my question but hid it quickly behind his hard facade. “Because I want you to be there.” That seals the deal. Just a simple, affectionate word from him, and I was following him when he snagged me away from the bathroom and towards his car. Gray tried to open the door next to the
Chapter 17 Finally, after the dreadful week of working and designing for the fashion week, I am oddly satisfied with how my designs work out. Zachary, bless his soul, was supportive and helpful when it came to helping me. He modeled, measured, and bought me food if I forgot to buy my lunch and dinner. Tonight is the night. The suit which I made would be worn by Zachary for the Runaway walk and it's killing me inside with nerves and excitement. For the evening, I wore my hair up in a bun with silver hoop earrings attaching my ears and colored my lips red that looked like I drank blood. It was my confident look(according to Ruth) but under the bold makeup and black sexy dress that has a slit in the middle that shows my thigh, I am filled with nerves, tension, and stress. Rose met me at the doorstep when I arrived looking like I belonged on the red carpet. She whistled and linked her arms around me, dragging me into the staff offic
