Chapter 4
After the long hours of work and a lot of thinking, Meredith Bloom looked up at the sky and released a curse when the first drop of water latched onto her skin. There is no way she would be walking into the rain and risked getting soaked from the pouring. So much has happened in a day and she wasn't sure if she could have another shock. Lord knows her poor heart couldn't handle it.
She opted to wait for the rain to stop instead of running around like a madwoman. She stood by the front of the building finding no harm in it.
A few minutes passed but the sky didn't seem to stop crying, It's almost close to four that got her worried because she would be home late if she continued to wait for the rain to stop pouring. Gearing up her bag on her shoulder, She ran out of the shelter and got herself drenched in a span of a minute.
Somewhere along her walking, a Mercedes stopped in front of her, halting her steps. She tried to walk away but the window slid down revealing Gray who looked at her with nothing but annoyance. She resisted the urge to roll her eyes but stopped when she remembered that the man was her boss.
“Meredith Bloom, Get in!” She heard him forcing the words out. Her nostrils flared at the use of her full name but didn't comment on it.
Gray eyes fell on the chest part of her transparent blouse. He couldn't look away although he found the girl so annoying, especially when he caught her sleeping on the first day of her work.
“Thank you Mr Gray, but I'll take the bus” She shouted in order to be heard over the rain.
With a nod Gray rolled up his windows but then he shrugged his suit off, offering to the clueless black hair women.
“You might want to cover your chest... although there's not much to look at” he couldn't help but add. Meredith gasped inwardly, blushing like crazy because not only is his comment plain rude but this man doesn't seem to have any recollection of their night. She doesn't understand why there was a tightness in her chest. The only reasonable conclusion is that he didn't recognise her because she’s twice her size a year ago.
Gray threw the suit carelessly landing on her face and before she could react, Gray drove away with a frown plastered on his face.
Waking up the next morning , Meredith's head was heavy with dizziness and her mind clouded with the thought of her new boss. She wanted to bang her head because it meant she could stop thinking about Gray Westmore.
When she entered her office, she went to greet the receptionist but was met with an unusual scene. An older woman and a little boy were talking with the receptionist who she came to know as Jane.
“Please just tell him that his mother and his son are here. I don't understand why I’m not allowed to visit my own son at his workplace” the older woman exclaimed with an irritated scowl. Meredith stepped closer towards them with a slightly concerned thought. She felt bad that Jane was shaking her head vigorously at the older woman's request.
She shouldn't have interfered and she knew that she would regret later but curiosity got the better of her like always. She tapped the woman who's sighing with hands on her hip.
“Hey there!” She chirped with a polite smile, the smile that always won over the hearts of many older women.
Jenna turned to see the woman who had tapped her, her face instantly blossoming to a wide smile when her eyes landed on the sweet, beautiful black hair Goddess. Her keen motherly eyes drink in the feature of the young woman who seemed as kind and lovely as her dead daughter-in-law.
“Hello, Do you work here?” Jenna asked directly, not bothering to cover up her curiosity. She's always been a direct woman and doesn't tolerate bullshitting.
Meredith was taken back by her bluntness but found herself nodding. Something flickered in Jenna's eyes and then it was gone in a blink of an eye.
“Could you please help me with something? You see, my grandson wanted to see his daddy but I didn't know the security was so tight. Could you please take him to my son? I could do it by myself but I have to run somewhere quick…” she trailed off looking incredibly regretful. Meredith looked down at the little guy who seemed to be lost in his own world, scanning around the unfamiliar building with an awestruck look on his face.
“I can do that. Could you please tell me his name and which floor he stays on?” Meredith asked Jenna, unaware of the scheming the older woman is playing at.
It wasn't usual for Jenna to play as a matchmaker but Meredith has that effect on older womens who wanted a sweet and beautiful woman
as their son's wife.
“Sure. What is your name darling?” Jenna asked, with an innocent look.
“It’s Meredith Ma’am. Call me Meredith” She says with a beam, her eyes casting towards Little Noah who peered up at her like a deer.
“Lovely! Here is his floor and his name”Jenna handed her a small slip of paper into Meredith palms. Jenna turned towards her grandson,“ Noah baby, Aunty Meredith will take you to your dad alright. Don't be naughty okay”
She taught her grandson and kissed him on his cheek. At the small affection, the two year old little guy waved his grandma's goodbye when she walked away with a satisfied grin.
“Come on Little buddy, let's get you to daddy” Meredith took hold of Noah's little hands and then they were off to the twelfth floor.
The duo struggled to find the right room since the walls and design looked the same. Noah is a cute little guy with dark brown hair and his features...Meredith felt as though she had seen him somewhere but couldn't point out her confusion.
She opened the slip of the paper with her left hand since her right were tightly enclosed around Noah's tiny hands. She almost screamed when she saw Gray's name on the small paper. Gray Westmore, twelfth floor!
What the hell is happening? Her eyes darted between the small piece of paper and Noah's confused face at her sudden shock. The more she looked at him, the more he resembled her gorgeous boss. An unwelcome tightness in her chest brought her out of her trance. Surely, he isn't married! But how is it possible that he got a son without a wife!? She rolled her eyes at her own thoughts. She couldn't believe that the man who bedded her a year ago is married and has a two year old son who is absolutely adorable and cute- one of the reasons why she even agreed to help Jenna in the first place.
“Noah! Why do you have to be Gray’s son!?” She muttered under her breath.
Gray’s secretary stood up from her seat looking extremely shocked at the duo. Rebecca is a forty year old woman who worked under Gray for five years, She's an Incredibly sweet woman and is fully talented in her work. But she wasn't prepared to see Little Noah and Meredith walking hand in hand towards her.
“Miss Florence,Can you please give Noah to Mr Gray? His grandmother had requested to take Noah to his dad” Meredith was blushing which wasn't unusual to Rebecca. Her boss was a gorgeous male with the personality of a stubborn mule and she couldn't understand why young girls fantasize and worship the ground he walks on.
“Sure,Give me a minute” She replied and within seconds, she picked up her telephone and called the man in question. Rebecca informed him of the situation and nodded occasionally, glancing back and forth between the two confused faces.
Meredith wanted to flee as soon as possible. She sighed in relief when Rebecca hung up the phone.
“Thank you so much Rebecca, I'll leave you to him then” She unclasped Noah’s tight grip, smiling down at his adorable face.
“Go to your dad okay” She couldn't help but peck at his chubby cheeks. This was normal for Meredith Because she loves kids, partly because she used to hang out with kids in the park in times of loneliness.
“Uh- Miss Bloom?” She turned her head towards Rebecca, “Mr Westmore asked you to bring Noah to him” Her knees felt wobbly and weak and her heart almost dropped to the floor.
Chapter 5Gray's office was as exactly as she had expected: still and completely soundproof, clean and coordinated with expensive sofas and tables sat in the middle of the spacious white office.Perched up on the chair, typing away on his laptop were Gray Westmore who didn't even acknowledge the duo who just walked in.Meredith's stomach churned from the ball of nerves creeping up her soul, but she knew better than to alert him of their presence. She had never met someone as intimidating as the person who sat in front of her. Noah, however, had other plans, he rushed towards Gray with a squeal. Her heart screams internally When Gray looks up; annoyed and angry. She kept her mouth shut, and stood straighter.
Chapter 6A week goes by in blur, Meredith has gotten quite close to some of her co-workers who are equally as friendly and sweet as her. As for Melissa, they never spoke of the incident that went down that afternoon. Either of them pretended to be friendly and acted civil towards each other. And tonight, since it's Friday, the group decided to head down to the bar and get drunk since it's the weekend and they don't have to work for the next two days.Meredith was eager to finish her work since it's been so long that she had gotten drunk and not focused on her work. By the time the clock turned 4, She rushed out of the office as if her Butts were on fire. When she reached home, she took a warm shower, and heated up the pizza in the microwave for dinner. She ate the leftover food along with a coke, her stomach full and sat
Chapter 7Mondays are always the worst way to wake up knowing that work is only a few hours away. Meredith trudged towards the bathroom and took a cold shower, screaming in the process. Only when the shock wears off did she feel all freshen up and she's ready for the painful working hours of the day.Dressed in a skin black tight pencil skirt and a maroon top, she tied her hair up with a silver hair pin. Applying a bare makeup on her face, She walked down the streets of her neighbourhood and hailed a cab, giving Directions to the cab driver. Most of her co-workers hated walking and coming to the office in a cab but she liked the simplicity of walking down the street and breathing in fresh air. Besides, She's too paranoid about getting comfortable without a walk, the fear of gaining weight being the sole reason. At Least she likes the idea of losing fats by walking. When Meredith reached the office ten min
Chapter 8It is the day of Noah’s birthday. Meredith has been feeling anxious for the whole week, the thought of showing up at the party scaring her little soul. Her long silver gown lay spread on her small bed, shoes are laid over the foot of her bed leg, yet, she just stares at it. She considers running away but that would be a little dramatic.Gray hadn't talked to her after that encounter at the coffee shop. But it would be a lie if she says that she didn't look for him often. Gray Westmore is dangerous to her because she keeps on thinking about him at an unusual time like in her bed when she sleeps at night. Yeah, He's dangerous and she planned to stay away from those kinds of people. The cab halted at the front of the massive gates. Meredith held her breath when her eyes took in the amazement of Gray's house or rather a mansion. She stepped out of the cab and paid the old man,th
Chapter 9MeredithI was the first one to slide out of the car and ran up to my apartment without needing to turn back to see if Gray was following. He did. What was I thinking? Bringing Gray Westmore to my apartment? For a cheap fuck? That sounds so horrible when I put it that way. I am single for almost a year now but sex with my boss?....Who is insanely hot and dangerous!?I could hear my heartbeat in my eardrums, ba..dum..ba..dum. We are in the elevator riding up to my floor, he's behind me,his scent assaulting my senses that I could hardly stand straight. It isn't too late to back out but my guts told me that Gray Westmore wouldn't be ecstatic about my change of decision and I wasn't saying that because I wanted him or his body.Nope.The elevator dinged, as well as my heart. Gray was the one to walk out, taking my hands in his and dragging me towards my apartment. I should b
chapter 10By Wednesday, I had convinced myself that Friday night never happened. I placed that thought at the back of my head, I refused to think about Gray although that was exactly what I had been doing for the last 24 hours, or was it 48 hours, Jumping Every time a ping sound comes from my phone.I was lazily scrolling through my Instagram feeds When Jenna, Gray's mother decided to Surprise me with her visit, I jumped up from my seat, spilling my coffee over the table. She came to sit at my table laughing with an apologetic expression.“Oh Dear, I didn't mean to scare you” A waiter approached us with a cloth, I apologized feeling so bad.“What brings you here Jenna?” I asked with a br
chapter 11We ended up on my bed... again. The kiss in my living room was the opening ceremony and then we moved to the couch, then to the bathroom, and lastly, we stumbled into my bed where we fell asleep and that was three hours ago.Gray lies on the right side of my bed while I stayed on the left side. He is snoring lightly with sheets covering up to his chest. I've been staring at him like a creep for the past ten minutes, wondering how the hell he got those long lashes and pink lips without applying any mascara or lipstick. Lips that kiss and suck so well. I rolled my eyes at my thoughts. My mind is always in the gutter whether I am at the office, with Ruth, or with the man himself. It's nauseating and a bit concerning that I can't unthink Gray's unholy images even in times not needed, specifically his coc…
Chapter 12“Holy...Holy...What happened to your eyes darling? Did some bees sting your eyeball or something?” Ruth announced her arrival with her dramatic gasp when she sees me munching apples perched on my kitchen counter.“Morning Darling' How ya doin’?” I greeted, trying to sound casual like I haven't been crying buckets last night. She pranced towards me in record time, tilting my face with her fingers towards her to get a better view of my face. “Meredith... Shouldn't you be worried about your face? It's... concerning” She echoed in a worried tone.“Mhh Pppmmm…dramatic.” Was my reply with my mouth full. She rolled her eyes and bit out “I am not being dramatic, I just need to know
