Chapter 5

Gray's office was as exactly as she had expected: still and completely soundproof, clean and coordinated with expensive sofas and tables sat in the middle of the spacious white office.

Perched up on the chair, typing away on his laptop were Gray Westmore who didn't even acknowledge the duo who just walked in.

Meredith's stomach churned from the ball of nerves creeping up her soul, but she knew better than to alert him of their presence. She had never met someone as intimidating as the person who sat in front of her. Noah, however, had other plans, he rushed towards Gray with a squeal.

Her heart screams internally When Gray looks up; annoyed and angry. She kept her mouth shut, and stood straighter.

Gray looked at Noah, his eyes a tad softening but the frown never faltered, it seemed to deepen when he looked up to find Meredith standing as stiff as an iron shaft.

She gulped audibly.

“Meredith Bloom...Could you please explain Why Noah is here? I specifically asked the receptionist to not let my family into my workplace” The anger rolling off his tongue is so palatable, even a blind would squirm.

“Sir..I-I-” Meredith stuttered, she was at a loss for words, she couldn't believe that Gray had forbidden his family into his workplace. How would she know? She's been in the company for only days. She wondered why she's been facing such situations since day one.

It seemed to her that Gray Westmore lives everywhere, specifically in her mind. “I didn't have any idea of the restriction Sir… I have no idea that Noah would be your...son” The words felt heavy on her tongue. It wasn't that she was in love with her boss but the thought of Gray sleeping with her while he was married made her feel mad and guilty.

“Exactly! You didn't know yet you brought Noah here so I expect you to watch over him today..” He didn't make any room for argument, and Meredith found herself nodding.

If being a nanny means she could disappear from the office, she would gladly do it.

“Yes Sir!” she responded. Gray, Seemingly satisfied with her reply, went back to his chair without glancing at Noah. Meredith heart felt sorry for the innocent baby. Sure, she didn't expect her boss to be friendly around people but Noah deserves so much love, especially with a cute face like that.

“Uhh Sir... Should I Bring Noah to my office?”

“Not necessary, There's a bedroom inside my office, You both can stay there ” Gray sounded angry while he was saying. Although having a bedroom inside an office sounds totally mind-blowing, she decided to not comment on it.

Gray Went back to his work, dismissing the two of them like they weren't even worth his time. However, her heart beats uncomfortably at the mere thought of babysitting her boss’s kid for the day. She's the designer of the company yet she can't believe she's babysitting a toddler. What luck! She didn't have the heart to complain because she had interfered in a business which was not even hers.

The hours of her babysitting went by in a slow, painful way. She couldn't even breathe comfortably knowing Gray Westmore was sitting across the bedroom while Noah and She played around the bedroom, and when he fell asleep, only then did she feel like she had conquered the world.

Putting Noah on the bed, She walked out the bedroom with messy hair and creases on her shirt. Since she was busy rubbing her eyes, she didn't notice the two people kissing intimately on the couch. When her eyes landed on Melissa and Gray in a compromising position, she jumped, screeching in a total shock.

Melissa sprung up from the couch with an annoyed look. The older woman inspected her body from head to toe, her gaze darkening and lips set on a frown with the way Meredith looked - messy hair and messy clothes as if Gray had spent time kissing her passionately.

“Why is she coming out of your bedroom!?” Melissa looked ughly and crazy, nothing like the kind and sweet woman from the first day.

Gray looked uninterested and bored. Meanwhile, thousands of questions were swimming inside Meredith’s head. Melissa and Gray?

“Uh- Noah's asleep, Sir. I'll leave you two alone” somehow, her throat felt dry and hoarse. She didn't like the attention she was getting.

“Gray! What the hell is going on? Why is your nephew and Meredith here!?” Melissa is persistent to find out the truth but Meredith fled from the scene while leaving Gray to face the wrath of his angry girlfriend. It is a lot of take in. First, She found out that Gray had a son who later happened to be his nephew( as his girlfriend had said) and secondly she caught Melissa kissing none other than the man, who she had constantly think of for the last 48 hours and months ago - until her mind had decided to erase him from her memory.

Her heart constricts with the knowledge of Gray and Melissa in a relationship.

 She hoped not.

                   *****

Pages of paper with sketches are all over her office, if people walked in on the condition, it would resemble an office that wasn't cleaned up for a year. Meredith  tore the pages of her book in a frustrated, stressful action. She wanted to  create a new dress for the upcoming fashion week which would earn her a few points but nothing seemed to go her way. Her mind is unfocused and she often finds herself dreaming about the black hair, blue-eyed monster whose kisses are eleven out of ten.

She could exactly remember the way Gray kissed her, the thrust of his hips every time he took her. The way he clenched around her. Her body still remembers the way he made her come. It felt like it was just a day ago that he bedded her when in fact a year had passed since that night. She wondered if it was possible for Gray to recall her, but she weighed twice her weight a year ago. She's too ashamed of bringing up the past and possibly giving him the leverage to look down on her.

Past is past, she doesn't want to think of her highschool days nor College and especially the way Zachary dumped her for a skinny underwear model.

Her stupor was interrupted with the knock of the door to her office, she looked up and immediately felt like disappearing. She didn't want to deal with an angry, jealous girlfriend at the moment.

Melissa strolled into her office with a confident, powerful stride, a fresh hickey and swollen lips. Her smile is unsettling and creepy.

“Meredith bloom, why are you working on lunch break? Gray doesn't like his employees starving” She leaned down to her face level, knocking some books over and falling into the floor. Melissa's breasts were covered with bite  and red marks as if groped forcefully but her face was that of a triumph look although Meredith felt like Melissa doesn't need to claim her boss. Even a blind could see that she's showing off the kiss marks as if it was some sort of trophy and something worth showing off.

“ I am not really hungry,Melissa. It's fine. You go ahead” Meredith spoke as polite as ever. She didn't want to give Melissa the reason to hate her, unnecessarily.

Melissa observed the younger women with an interest. The images of Miranda stepping out of Gray's bedroom drilling into her brain. She wanted every woman to know that Gray belongs to her and she hated the way he stared at the woman in front of her as if Meredith were some sort of interesting character that gives him pleasure. However, there was no jealousy or annoyance in Meredith's face, which eases her  nerves a tad bit. Feeling satisfied, she stood up straighter and flashes a bright smile, the sweet, polite smile returning in full.

“Alright,If that's what you want. I'll be in the cafeteria if you change your mind” Melissa says with a grin, retouching her hair and clothes.

Meredith gave her an equally bright smile, even waving like a kid as Melissa walked away out of her office. She breathed a sigh of relief, fanning her flushed cheeks and frowning at the state of her office.

It was an hour later that Meredith was interrupted with a knock on the door for the second time that day. She wanted to hurl at whoever dared to disrupt her undivided attention at her work but the hardness on her face flew away when Little Noah stepped into her office, with Gray Westmore trailing behind his small figure.

She sprang up to her feet and bowed her head as if he was the royal prince and she,his slave.

Noah grinned and ran towards her, pulling the fabric of her tight skirt.

She looked down and saw that Noah had a small piece of paper in his tiny hands. She looked up at Gray, confused.

“It’s my mom's number. She insists that you get it” Gray says as if he were delivering a speech.

Meredith took the small piece of paper, smiling at Noah who stared up at her in adoration.

“Bunny, Say goodbye to Miss Meridith,” Gray instructed the toddler.

“Buh-Bye” the kid sputtered in a child's voice, Meredith felt her heart soar with love for the little kid. She loves kids, especially someone as cute and obedient as Noah makes her happy.

“Aww, I'll visit you next time okay” She says, pinching his cheeks.

Gray stepped forward and held up Noah in his arms, his eyes never leaving Meredith's face. Meanwhile, Mredith felt her cheeks flushed and heart racing at the intensity of his gaze.

“Don’t get too comfortable with my family, you are the employee of this company and I don't want unnecessary rumors going around” Gray says in his usual, uncaring way.

“Understood, Sir” Meredith says and Gray Nodded.

The word ' fuck you' is at the tip of her tongue but she covered it up with a grimace, waving her hands goodbye at the toddler while Gray walked out of her office with Noah in his arms.
