Olivia’s POV

The house was too quiet.

Not peaceful quiet—accusing quiet. The kind that crawls under your skin and keeps whispering, You’re lying to everyone.

Ethan and I had always filled the silence easily, music, cooking shows, dumb jokes. Tonight the air sat between us like a wall. Every sound was sharp: the tick of the kitchen clock, the scrape of his fork against the plate, my own heartbeat tripping in my ears.

“Good dinner,” he said finally, eyes on his food.

“Thanks.” My voice sounded thin, foreign.

He glanced up once, then back down. “Practice ran late. Coach says we need to tighten defense.”

That caught me off guard. “Why would he ask that?”

He shrugged, pretending nonchalance. “Said you looked… tense. You and Xander both.”

Xander's POVPractice was over and the locker room was buzzing with smack talks and guys fooling around. Jokes were thrown at it each, insults that didn't have any bite, and asses were smacked. I was right in the middle of it, pulling off my sweaty jersey as I and Jake bantered."Man, you skated like you got bricks on your feet today," I teased him, grinning at him as I wiped my face with a towel.Jake shot back a jab as he laughed. "Oh yeah? At least I didn't trip over my own stick like some rookie player. What's your excuse? Still daydreaming about Jamaican beaches?"I chuckled, shaking my head. "I'm guilty as charged. Nothing would ever beat the vacation I had with Liv. The atmosphere was amazing there, better than this freezing cold weather we have here."The whole team knew about our trip to the Caribbeans. I informed all of them of our vacations plans before we left. And even though I didn't tell them, the pictures were all over my social media handles. That's the kind of vaca

  • OFF LIMITS: HIS BEST FRIEND'S MOTHER    DIZZYING SPELLS

Olivia's POVIt's been a week since we came back from our vacation in Jamaica. The work load before I left doubled. As it seemed most patients wanted my “magic hands" on them. And as soon as people heard I had arrived back in Chicago they came back in their numbers. Xander was in the same predicament as me. The practice hours doubled, coming back home worn out and already sleepy eyed. I missed the weeks we spent in our vacation. The lazy mornings, non existents appointments and phone calls. Having breakfast in bed and just cuddling up with my man, and let's not forget the numerous adventures we had.To top all off, I started have the weird body quirks. A little bit of nausea when I eat something. I've even started to have subtle aversions to food I normally loved, like bread and pasta. My stomach was always bloated despite eating very little. The only thing I could stomach was plain crackers. It was probably my body adjusting to another climate change or jetlag.By mid week, it got

Olivia's povXander's eyes lit up from what I just told him. A small sexy, dark smile filled his face. He drew me closer to him, the music fading in the background, whispering in my ear. “Let's get out of here, Liv." I nodded at him, cheeks blooming red. I was equal parts embarrassed and exciting at what was to happen. We weaved through dancing bodies of other couples as we made our way to the hotel. The band on my wrist was buzzing nonstop, Xander gripped my hand tighter as we walked. In no time, we reached our room. The door shut behind us as we entered. Xander turned to me, eyes roaming my face. "Shower first?" he asked, his voice low and husky. He was already peeling off the layers of clothing he had on, that lickable skin on display. My husband was gorgeous, I'm reminding again of how young Xander was compared to me."Yeah, shower," I whispered, stepping closer to him. I reached the hem of my dress to pull it up my head, but he beat me to it, removing it for me.His fingers gr
