Delilah stood uncomfortably close to the outskirts of the settlement. She was holding just a small bag and her eyes were fixed to the ground in an attempt not to cry.So far the tears hadn't come yet and that was okay. She was okay for now.Her pack had just sold her off to another pack like a common animal and even though she should have seen it coming it still hurt.Still hurt like a bitch.Delilah adjusted the small bag in her hands and made her way over to the van that was standing on the highway.Kate hadn't arrived yet with the other Betas as her father was giving her instructions and her group were teary eyed fawning over her.Delilah decided she would use the time to herself, maybe look at the sky or something. It was better than standing awkwardly in the corner while Kate the bully was being blessed. The moon goddess hadn't even chose her and yet here was Kate taking what rightfully belonged to her.It was a sum of the pitiful existence of her life. Everything and anything s
The first thing that hit him as soon as he opened his eyes was the foul stench that greeted his nose.Kai tried to move his hands and failed. He'd been tied, he could tell by the ropes that were cutting into his skin. No, not ropes. He had been chained. As he moved his hands around the heavy metal that had been used to pin the both of his hands a sharp pain suddenly built in his body.He remembered at once. He'd been shit twice; one on the stomach and another on the shoulder.Kai winced at the pain in his shoulder and he tried to tug against the chains. The bullets that had been used to shoot him weren't ordinary bullets. They had been dipped in wolfsbane. For now it was temporarily stopping his powers from activating and healing his wounds. He needed to get the two bullets out of his system at once if he stood a chance of escaping from this place.Kai sniffed the air around him and wrinkled his nose. His face had been covered with a dirty sack bag. That was the least of his problem
Delilah opened her eyes to string rays of sunlight streaming through her face. The trip to the Silver Moon Pack had left her exhausted yesterday. She was preerty much knocked out as soon as she hit the bed. Turning to her aude she made out the contours of Kate who was lying close to her, her black hair matted around her face. They both if them hadn't even argued last night. They fell asleep straight away. The room they had been out it was modern with a sift decor.Shutter windows, polished hardwood ground and a four poster bed big enough to contain four people.Allowing her self to linger a little bit on the bed Delilah turned her face to the ceiling of the room. Unsurprisingly it had no stain or cracks running through it. The Silver Moon Pack was wallowing in riches.Different from her pack.Delilah listened to the faint snores of Kate because her before getting up from the bed.She padded around the bed over to the window and peered outside. The signs that met her was breath taking.
Those words felt like a slap had just landed on her face grazing her ears.Delilah blinked stupidly looking at Liam as the Alpha watched her closely."Is there a problem" he asked his voice low and soft almost as if he was pitying her.Delilah opened her mouth to speak, to tell the truth. She was his mate, not Kate. She caught Adam's eyes from where he stood and her mouth sealed shut. His eyes were glowing amber, a slight warning that if she tried anyhting funny or said anything she would regret it."Is there a problem? Liam asked again and this tome around Delilah could feel the cold creeping into his voice. He wasn't the type of person who liked to ask questions twice."No your Alpha '' Delilah said, bowing her head as tears prickled at the corner of her eyes."Good, My Beta Adam will tell.you your duties as my mates servant. I trust you would do well."Delilah felt her chest tightening. Once again love had been stripped away from her, once again something that rightfully belonged t
With a jerk Kai sat up in bed, his breath leaving his mouth in gasps of fear. He looked around him. His eyes darted wildly around the space he was in. He only calmed down as soon as he found out it was just his room. Fuck. Kai rubbed at his face as he tried to get his breathing under control. The dreams had started again. Like something that was returning from the pits of hell. Ever since his encounter with Rudolf they had returned slowly at first but this night was the most violent of them all. He took a deep breath and moved over to the edge of the bed, rubbing his temple slowly in semi circles. Three years. That amount of time should have been enough for him to put the past behind him. Yet the reverse was the case. It was apparent now that he hadn't forgotten any of the demons that plagued him. The dream was always the same. He was in the woods, as a human and he was being hunted. Not by humans like him but by wolves and in that dream he had recognised one of the wolves.
"I heard you don't have a wolf?" It was sometime around seven in the morning. Kate had sent Delilah to the kitchen to make her a cup of coffee. Adam had made sure she tended to Kate as per the Alpha's order for her to become Kate's servant. Delilah didn't want to waste time arguing or resisting. Adam made it clear what would happen if she resisted him or started arguments. Delilah knew Adam was one of those dangerous wolves and she wasn't about to get on his bad side yet. She wanted to study the pack know her friends and her foes but it wasn't as easy as she thought it was going to be. Someone had told half the pack members that she didn't have a wolf and it was preventing her from making any real freinship. That morning the Alpha had been on her mind. Last night at the dungeon wasn't going to get out of her head in a hurry. It was living there rent free. His smell, the proximity of him to her and the way her body responded when he had whispered in her ear. Delilah hadn't be
It was a strange dream. The last time she had it was five years ago and ever since then the dream hadn't recurred.Seeing herself in the environment again was like a jolt to her. How did she know it was a dream though? She always felt so distant from what was happening. The events were there unfolding before her eyes but rather it felt like she was looking at it through a mirror.A distant mirror, unable to do anything but just watch.Delilah was in the woods again. She was barefoot and the dry leaves and snapped twigs poked at her exposed flesh. In front of her she could see lights in the distance, orange flickering lights that led her to believe it was camp fires. In the dream she was always drawn to the light. It called her like a bulb would call to a moth after a downpour.Delilah walked toward the light her whole concentration fixed on getting to the light. No other thing in the woods mattered at that moment except reaching the source of that light. She walked on and after a few
She took a blade dipped in wolfsbane and slit her own throat. Kai could barely believe what Dutt had just told him. Rose couldn't kill herself, it was impossible. It wasn't not in her captain ter to committ suicide. Yet the hard look in Dutt's eyes told him what the Beta had just said wasnt some sick joke. Rose was really dead. "Shocking right? That's what I thought too; those of us who saw it happen couldn't believe it." Kai was still having a hard time wrapping his head around what he had just been told. Knowing Rose right from when the both of them were little it was hard to believe she had committed suicide. Kai rubbed at his face just the idea was surreal. "How did Liam react to this?" Dutt suddenly had a grim look on his face. "Normal, he went about his day like nothing had happened, like his Luna hadn't taken her own life." Liams actions three years ago had taught Lai a bitter lesson. No one could be trusted. If anyone had ever told him his best friend was capable
