Chapter : 1 [ Married At First Sight ]

[ Scarlett ]

I want to live here forever, at my current boyfriend’s house because the place I call my house is a prison for me or I should say it was as I am getting married in next three hours with a man of my father’s choice not mine. I practically flee from my own wedding to save my most valuable tressure, my freedom from been confiscated by my Dad.

“Scar, baby get up, your father’s driver is here to pick you.” Ethan, my boyfriend shakes my shoulder to wake me up from the couch where I have been laying for hours, drunk and wasted.

“Tell him to get lost. I am not marrying that old douche. If Mathew Remirez wants me to lick his feet like I am his pet then he should know that I am his daughter not a fucking business deal.” I shout, letting out my frustration on poor Ethan.

“Baby, we both know that this isn’t a serious relationship and no one can defy a powerful man like your father. Please, go back to your house with your driver. I do not want to be in any trouble. Besides, we can always have fun after your marriage. I heard rich men rarely touch their wives, they are only for showcasing.’ He says with a shameless wink and helps me to get up on my feet.

“You’re an asshole just like my father. Go to hell and do not dare to show me your face again!” I slap him across his face and storm out of his place with the tears of helplessness. Men in my life can never understand me.

I spot my Dad’s black suv parked outside his house but I didn’t expect a young and very handsome man to be his driver.

The man is dressed in all black which fits his toned muscular body. His dark hairs are shaved down on sides, I notice his high cheekbones and sharp jawline but I can’t see his eyes as he has worn black shades, his hands are clasped at his front. I have never seen him before. He must be new.

Welcome to the hell, Mr. Hot Dude Driver.

It’s not a lie. Living with a control freak man like my father isn’t easy at all. I am the biggest example. He gave me a rich, spoiled life which I enjoy at my best but on the cost of my freedom which he is going to kill in next few hours.

“Miss Remirez, your father has been waiting for you in the city office.” He says to me while he opened the backseat door for me. Oh God! His voice is equally sexy. He won’t be bad for fun in the car whenever I crave for sex.

“But why to the city office? I mean should I be not getting ready for my wedding?” I ask him curiously.

“I am sorry, Ma’am but I am not supposed to disclose the details. I am only asked by Mr. Remirez to pick you up from your friend’s house. I am just doing my job.” He replies in a baritone which is an indirect way to silence me.

I lean my face on the cool glass of the window watching the ordinary people of the city busy and running in their lives. I stare at the big diamond resting on my finger. It cost my fiancé millions which he didn’t forget to rub it on my face. I will only be a rich doll for display.

Half and hour later, my driver whose name I didn’t care to ask, parks the car in the backside entrance to avoid people’s eyes. He opens the door for me and immediately my Dad’s bodyguards surround me. I groan in frustration but I can’t protest. After all it is for the safety of the great business mogul Mathew Remirez’s only daughter! Note the sarcasm. They usher me inside to a private cabin. I find my father and his second wife sulking in a corner while other men are in black dresses. Must be the officers in the city office.

“Good afternoon, Dad.” I greet my father with a huge fake smile but he finds no amusement in it.

“Why is he sulking, Carla?” I ask his wife who just rolls her eyes at me with an incoherent curse which I obviously ignored.

“Shouldn’t we be at the chapel for the wedding, Dad? David and his family must be waiting for us or you’re here for your divorce. I told you, she is your worst choice.’ I joke. I love to get under his skin. I have been doing it since he abandoned my mother to die alone while he was busy thriving his business.

“Shut up, Scarlett!” His angry roar resonates in the room and I fall silent.

“They called off the marriage after the stunt you pulled on your social media. They don’t want a sl*t for a daughter-in-law.” His eyes reflect his fury.

Ouch! His words hurt. I feel humiliated in front of his employees and strangers. I notice a smirk on Carla’s face.

“It means there will be no wedding? I am free to enjoy my bachelor life.” My happiness knows no bounds as I pull off the ring and hand it over to a bodyguard.

“No, the marriage will happen. In fact, it will take place here in next ten minutes as soon as the legal papers are ready.” He answers very calmly but its my turn to get surprised.

“How? I mean where is the groom? You said that David backed off, right?” I look at him cluelessly.

“Right, my dear daughter. David isn’t here but your future husband is here.” He says with a smirk and gestures his new driver to come forward.

“Meet your groom, Blaze Hamilton. You ‘re going to marry him, Scarlett Angela Remirez.” He announces and I feel like the ground slipped from beneath my feet.

“You’re joking, Dad. You are taking your revenge on me because I flew from my wedding?” I give him a look of disbelief and glance at his poor driver.

“I am sorry, my dear child. It’s not a joke. In fact, it is the best decision I ever made for you.” He clasps his hands and give me a determined look.

I am flabbergasted. If he’s really thinking that by fixing my back up marriage with his driver will be a good punishment for my rebel then he’s right.

“I can’t marry him!” I shout and turn to leave the sickening place but his next words halt me in my track.

“If you refuse to marry him then be ready to kiss your inheritance goodbye, my sweet child.”

I turn back and give him a menacing look.

“You can’t do this to me, Dad. This company and your wealth, it also belong to my dead mother who named it after me and I will inherit everything once I turn twenty five.’ I give him a dangerous look.

“Smart move but you’re yet to be twenty-five. There are six months left for your twenty fifth birthday, Scarlett. Marry Blaze or live on the streets. I am sure none of your friends or your dear boyfriend Ethan will help you because you won’t have a penny in your pocket to spend on them.’ He challenges me.

Fresh tears form in my eyes. My father always gets what he wants but today he is adamant to ruin my life and my future.

“But why do Blaze marry me?” I look at the mysterious driver.

“Because I ordered him, right Blaze?’ He asks Blaze and I pray that this young man refuses but his answer shatters my last hope to escape this blasphemy.

“Yes, Sir, I will marry your daughter.”

“See, even Blaze has no problem. It just the matter of six months, Scarlett. It will clean your reputation in the public and after six months you may part your ways but I have belief that he will take a good care of you, Scarlett.” Dad says like it’s a piece of cake for him.

I glance at Blaze, the man whom I was lusting some time ago now seems the filthiest man on the earth. He has the same stoic expression on his face.

“Just look at him, Dad. My dress and handbag cost more than his monthly salary.” I scrunch my nose. I may have sounded like a bitch but it was true. Not in his wildest dream he can support my expanses if we aren't going to live at my house or on my money.

Blaze’s jaws twitch on my comment but he stays unmoved.

“I know, baby, I know and that’s why I am promoting him. He will be my head of security. I hope you can live a decent life in his raised salary.” Dad solves my problem!

“You can’t just marry your daughter to a complete stranger to quench your ego.” I scoff and want to run far away with all his money.

“I have known Blaze for months if you have ever paid attention to others than living the life of a Cindrella. I am not asking you, Scarlett. I am telling you. The papers are ready, now sign them and begin your happy married life. Prove yourself a worthy heir first.”

“You can’t just throw this on me in the last minute.” I mock at him.

“I wouldn’t have done it if you appeared on your wedding, Scarlett. I have to save my reputation and I trust Blaze. He will protect you with his life. You just have to be civil with him. Officer Sherry, please bring the papers. The bride and groom are here.” He turns his attention on the man who is supposed to approve our marriage.

There is no point of me arguing with him. Mathew Remirez is a stubborn man but Blaze won’t get away with this.

“Miss Scarlett Angela Remirez, please sign under your name.” The official asks.

I look at my father who has a calm look on his face then at my groom who has said a single sentence to me all this while and then at the papers mocking at me. With so much fury, I sign and glare at Blaze whom Sherry asks the same and he signs very smoothly unlike me. He thinks he hit the jackpot by marrying a rich heiress then he’s living in his dreams because I will prove myself his worst nightmare. The officiant then asks my father and two other witnesses to sign while I stand there lifelessly. I regret fleeing from my wedding now. At least, David would keep me like a queen.

“You can exchange your rings now.” The officiant asks us.

“It’s not necessary.” I snap at him.

“It is necessary for me.” Blaze’s deep voice resonates in the room. So, he has a voice, a beautiful one.

He turns to me and takes off his glasses and I am awestruck by the most captivating pair of ocean green eyes staring deep into my soul. He takes off his gold chain and removes a thin  gold band with a small diamond in the centre and grabs my hand while I keep staring at him. He slides the ring in my finger and surprisingly it fits me well. Its not expensive but it’s beautiful. The lightest ornament I ever wear except my Mom’s pendent.

“Here is your ring, step-daughter.” An overexcited Carla forwards a platinum band in my direction.

“This ring is ten times costlier than yours, Mr. Blaze.” I taunt him as I slide the ring on his finger.

“Now I pronounce you Mr. and Mrs. Hamilton. You may kiss the bride.” Sherry declares.

“Impossible!” I shout at him.

“Not necessary.” He says politely.

Here begins my happy married life with the poor driver of my father!
