SOFIA

Mike let go of my neck a little as he turned to look at the person who spoke.

A man walked towards us and even after almost being choked to death, I had to admire how good he looked. He had mesmerizing kind blue eyes, long chestnut brown hair, and a killer jawline. He looked like he was sculpted perfectly from clay.

I wasn’t sure if he was from here because of his attire. He wore a long brown coat over his clothes and when he was close enough, I could see how tall he was. Way taller than even Mike even though he was like 6’2.

“What is going on here?” The man asked as he looked between us in confusion.

I did not know him but I was already scared for his life. Mike had a reputation for being ruthless. As the alpha of the pack and one of the richest alphas, he could easily destroy his life. Take away his job and kill off anyone who tries to stand in his way.

“Mind your business.” He snapped as he let go of me completely and he turned to face the man. I let out a normal breath for once as I placed my hand over my chest, soothing the sting on it.

“That is not an answer.” The man answered.

“Yet I would still mind my business if I were you.” Mike warned him, stepping closer to him.

I thought the man was going to back down, and show some sign of fear after realizing the man he stopped was the alpha of our pack but he did not look fazed even by the tiniest bit.

“Mind my business when I just saw a full grown man choking a helpless lady in the middle of the hospital?” He raised a brow. “Seems barbaric to me.”

“I can do whatever I choose to do with her. She is my wife, at least for the next few hours. Why don’t you scurry off and go help the next helpless victim before I change my mind about letting you leave with your heart still intact?” Mike was starting to fume.

He had anger issues, it was a well established fact. I did not know what he was going to do to the man all because of me. I could not have anyone’s downfall or blood in my hands.

The man laughed. He laughed— at Mike’s face.

“Do you really think of yourself that weak to always resort to violence?” He asked. “Choking a woman in public? Then threatening to kill the one other man that stands up for her?”

“You are really asking to die tonight, are you?” Mike rolled up his sleeves.

Alisha behind him tried to stop him, placing a hand on his shoulder but he shrugged her off. He did not even turn to look at her, and that almost made me smile. That was just the beginning.

“Listen, Sir. I know you are trying to help but I do not need you to put yourself in trouble.” I spoke up.

The man turned his eyes to look at me and I felt my heart drop. His eyes were so mesmerizing.

“I do not think you should worry about that,” he shook his head in his poor attempt at reassurance. “Are you okay?”

“Get out before I lose my temper!” Mike exploded, his body shaking. I flinched back. I was well used to this mood of his and I knew how to avoid making it worse by just keeping quiet.

“Your temper has already been lost since before I came, Mike.” His voice was in a rich drawl. He sounded like a polished and calm gentleman. Hopefully not a dead gentleman by the time he leaves his place.

“Do you know who I am?” He bellowed. There was already a crowd forming around us, closing in. But they did not get too close to listen in on what was going on because of security.

I placed my hands around my stomach as I felt the cameras flashing at us.

“Mike Henderson. I am very much acquainted with who you are,” he said. “You are going to leave this woman and you are going to leave. Maybe then I would let you leave with your own heart intact.”

My jaw dropped at that statement. Did he really know who he was talking to? I expected Mike to jump and fight him, but it seemed like even he was stunned by his audacity. The cameras that were all around us were getting closer. I could guess that was the part of the reason he was not getting violent.

His perfect sparkling image could not be at risk.

Instead, he turned to look at me, “Is this one of the men you fuck for attention when I am giving you none?” He snarled at me with venom in his tone.

“I told you and I am going to tell you again. Not everyone is a cheater like you.” I retorted.

I was not scared of him anymore, especially since he wouldn’t dare to lay hands on me. Plus we are getting divorced in a few hours. What was the worst he could do?

“Well, all is settled then. All you do you is stay at home and be fucking useless to me. Get with him, and mark my words when I say that I am going to hunt you both down and I will destroy whatever happiness you think you will get.” Mike warned both of us.

“Not before I destroy yours.” The man blurted out.

“What did you just say to me?” Mike paused, then turned to look at him again.

“I did not get to introduce myself before I saw you trying to end the poor woman’s life, Mike Henderson,” his eyes narrowed as he looked between me and Mike. “I am Dane Vale. The lycan king, and your boss.”

I could see the moment his face turned white. I was sure mine had turned white too. I had to look around to make sure that I did not just hear the wrong thing. Never did I expect to ever be in the presence of the lycan king. The man that was called the living legend, because no one had ever seen him.

There were no pictures ever taken of him, and even his business partners barely got to see him. He was almost like a ghost. There used to be rumours that he was very ugly which was why he did not like showing his face out.

That was clearly a lie, because this was the most beautiful face I have ever seen in my life.

“You’re lying.” Mike mouthed with a nervous chuckle.

“You tried to get in contact with me three hundred and sixty five times in the past year. You sent me emails about having an offer for me and wanting to become a senior executive in my company. So I wanted to give you that chance because of how adamant you were. I am glad I came all the way down here to see what kind of person you really were before I handed you my business.” Alpha Dane sized him up.

Mike looked miserable. He immediately went down to his knees, which was the most shocking thing I have seen today. Not even the presence of the baby growing in me with all of the contraceptives I have been taking shocked me like this.

“Please, forgive me, my alpha,” he bowed his head down in my shame and regret. “I did not know it was you. Please, have mercy on me.”

“I will.” Alpha Dane looked away from the camera as the crowd got even more interested as they took more pictures.

I couldn’t believe Mike was humiliating himself like this. But then I remembered that the mysterious lycan alpha was the one that made him the alpha of this pack, and he gave him a job at the trillion dollar company, Vale Goldmine Industries. That made him an instant multimillionaire.

“All I ask is that you let go of this woman. You do not deserve her. Matter of fact, you do not even deserve anyone. You said she wouldn’t be your wife by the end of the day so you might as well just do it now.” Alpha Dane added.

“I…” Mike trailed off. I guess he wasn’t expecting to get away with it.

“Get up and get the divorce papers ready,” Alpha Dane gestured for him to stand up. He turned to look at me again as I gazed at him with gratitude. No one has ever stood up for me like that. At least not after my parents died. “I am so sorry for what happened to you. Are you okay?” He asked.

“I have been better.” I nodded, trying to muster up a smile.

“I hope the divorce is mutual?” He asked, tilting his right brow. I noticed a scar running across it.

“It is.” I nodded.

I felt so nervous that I could feel my hands shaking. I tried to cover them up as I looked over at Alisha and Mike walking over to their car and leaving. His head was nodded in shame as the paparazzi followed him.

I sighed.

“Do you have anywhere else to go after the divorce?” He asked me.

I turned to look at him for the duration I could before his eyes made me even more nervous again.

“No.” I shook my head.

There was a long stretch of silence before he finally answered, “Then come with me.”

“Come with you?” My voice came out louder than I intended for it to sound.

“Yes. To the lycan pack.” He nodded.

“But I am a werewolf…” Not even a complete werewolf at that. I wondered if he already figured that out. I heard they are excellent scent catchers.

“Doesn’t matter. You will live under my protection. But I am not forcing you to come. If you do not want to, then we can just part here.” He shrugged.

My throat bobbed as I weighed my options. I did not know what I wanted to do after I got divorced from him. I do not have a reasonable background, nor work experience, or a good education that could even land me simple jobs.

I would survive on the alimony until someone scented out that my wolf was defective and they tried to hunt me down. I could not live my life that way. But I was also pregnant. What would I do with it? So many questions were rummaging through my head that I started to feel dizzy.

“You do not need to answer now if you do not want to.” Alpha Dane assured me.

I shook my head as I took a deep breath, “Yes. I want to go with you.” I replied.

“Perfect,” he smiled. “Let me take you home now. You look exhausted after what happened.”

I nodded before he walked and I followed him. I did not know what the fuck I was doing, following a man with a reputation like that, but I was. I could only hope that this was not about to be the worst mistake I have ever made.

  • ONCE FORSAKEN, NOW THE LYCAN KING’S LUNA   Chapter 108

SOFIA'S POV I wasn't sure what to make of Jackson. He was extremely kind and warm to me and I was starting to feel really comfortable around him.I wasn't sure I was making the right decision, though. I had grown extremely fond of my sister, Amy Stone and was the major reason I was reciprocating Jackson's warmness. There was nothing else I knew about him prior when I met him, except that he was an enemy of Dane.A knock rang suddenly on the door. I turned, wondering who it was. “Who's there? Come in!” The door turned and in walked Jackson, smiling. I kept still, wondering what he had come for.“Are you busy?” “No, I'm not. Is there something you would like me to do?”“I was wondering if we could have go out later tonight, with Amy. We can eat out instead of having dinner here in the house.”The idea wasn't entirely bad and it seemed pleasing to my ears. “Fine! I'll get ready,” I muttered, grinning.“Alright then. I'm heading out now, so I'll have one of the drivers bring you to whe

SOFIA'S POV Once I was back in my room, I sat quietly on the edge of the bed, staring at nothing in particular. But no matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t get rid of the memory of the kiss from Jackson. It wasn’t even on the lips—just a soft brush on my forehead. But the feeling of it lingered like a scent I couldn’t shake off.I kept replaying it again and again in my head. The way he leaned in, the warmth of his breath, the way his eyes softened before he did it… Why was it stuck in my mind like this?I groaned, burying my face in my hands. “Ugh, get out of my head already!” I muttered to myself. The more I tried to forget it, the more intense it became. Like it had unlocked something I didn’t want to face. Something I wasn’t ready to accept. It was frustrating. I paced the room for a while, hoping to distract myself. But his voice, his words, his gaze—everything was still so fresh.Eventually, I just slumped back on the bed and stared up at the ceiling. Maybe… maybe I should sto

  • ONCE FORSAKEN, NOW THE LYCAN KING’S LUNA   Chapter 106

SOFIA'S POV The next morning, Amy and I decided to take a walk around the pack. The air was crisp and fresh, and the morning sun peeked gently through the trees. Birds chirped above us, and for the first time in days, the world felt somewhat normal—at least on the outside.Amy skipped beside me, holding my hand tightly. She was so full of life, pointing at everything she saw—flowers, butterflies, and even a tiny lizard crawling up a tree trunk.“Sofia! Look! That flower is purple, just like my favorite dress!” she giggled.I smiled faintly, brushing her hair behind her ear. “Yes, it’s beautiful, just like you.”She beamed at me, and for a brief moment, I allowed myself to enjoy the quiet. But then, footsteps crunched on the gravel behind us.“Can I join you?” a voice asked gently.I turned around to see Jackson standing there, his arms crossed casually, a soft look in his eyes. He wasn’t smirking or forcing anything—just looking at me calmly.I hesitated, my thoughts swirling. Par

  • ONCE FORSAKEN, NOW THE LYCAN KING’S LUNA   Chapter 105

SOFIA'S POV I felt like I was going crazy.A whole week. A full, dragging, miserable week—and still no sign of Sofia. Nothing. Not even a single whisper in the wind about her whereabouts.Every second without her felt like a blade dragging slowly across my skin.I couldn't sleep. I couldn't eat. I couldn't breathe right. Every time I closed my eyes, I saw her face—her soft, warm smile, the fire in her eyes when she was angry, the way her voice used to calm the chaos in my mind.I wondered what they had done to her. Where was she? Was she locked up somewhere? Was she hurt?My chest tightened painfully, and I ran a hand down my face. “Could she even still be alive?” I thought aloud, my voice barely a whisper. But no. I couldn’t let my mind wander there.I immediately shook my head, pushing the dark thought out. No. Sofia’s strong. She has to be alive. She has to be.“Alpha,” Mark said gently from across the room, his voice almost hesitant. “We’ve searched every known rogue territory. N

  • ONCE FORSAKEN, NOW THE LYCAN KING’S LUNA   Chapter 104

SOFIA'S POV Pondering more on it, it began to make more sense to me.How Dane had suddenly approached me, out of nowhere, and then—without even properly courting me—offered to marry me right away.Back then, I had found it strange. His interest had been… intense. Too intense. But I was vulnerable at the time. I was running from Mike, from a past that nearly ruined me.So when Dane showed up, with his calm words, charming looks, and powerful aura… I thought I had found something safe. Something solid. I thought I was lucky.Stupid.I clenched my fists as the realization crawled through my chest like fire.Maybe it hadn’t been love at all. Maybe I had only been chosen. Selected like some object. A vessel.*The one who could break the curse.*“I was so foolish,” I muttered under my breath, my voice trembling. “How could I not see it?”From the other side of the room, Jackson was watching me in silence. He didn’t interrupt. He didn’t have to. My thoughts were already dragging me deeper i

  • ONCE FORSAKEN, NOW THE LYCAN KING’S LUNA   Chapter 103

SOFIA'S POV As if all that he had said wasn’t enough, Jackson returned minutes later, this time with a sleek black tablet in his hand. His expression was unreadable, but the way he walked in—slow, confident—made my skin crawl. There was a strange silence in the room, the kind that made my chest feel heavy.I sat upright on the edge of the couch, still shaken by everything I had heard earlier. My mind was a whirlwind of confusion, betrayal, and fear. And now he was back, again.I glared hard at him, my brows furrowed tightly. I could feel the anger boiling in my chest, sharp and restless. He had already turned my world upside down with his words—what more did he want from me now?Why had he come again? He walked past the edge of the couch and sat beside me slowly, too slowly, like he was giving me time to speak… but I didn’t. I pressed my lips together and turned my face slightly away from him. From the corner of my eye, I saw him lift the tablet.“Do you still have doubt about al
