SOFIA
I wished someone would wake me up from this dreadful dream. But unfortunately, it was not a bad dream. It was real life. Looking down at the papers in my hand, I swallowed down the bile in my throat as I read it through again and again. It couldn’t be possible. I had made sure that I avoided anything that was going to give me these results. Be it those teas that the healers used to give me and the cervical contraceptive that my doctor had placed in my cervix months back. I shouldn’t be pregnant. I could not even believe my eyes as I shoved the papers in my bag. This came at the worst possible timing. Not when I just found out that my scumbag of a husband has been cheating on me throughout our marriage. Mike Henderson was the perfect husband on paper. He was the alpha of our state, and he also was a multimillionaire and incredibly handsome. Everyone says that his wife would be incredibly lucky to have a husband like him. If only they knew the amount of pain I had been subjected to for the past six years of being married to him. “Look! Mike Henderson!” The girl beside me gushed. My heart dropped at the mention of my husband— almost ex-husband’s name. I raised my head to see what they were looking at and I saw his face on the television with a broad smile on his face. He had never smiled at me like that ever since we got married. ‘Multimillionaire, Alpha Mike seems to have broken the internet by storm when he announced his engagement with no one other than his alleged long term girlfriend, Alisha. It was said that they have been together for four years now and are finally ready to tie the knot during the weekend on Alpha Mike’s super yacht.’ That was actually a lie. He had been with her for six years, days after we had gotten married. I had done my investigation when I found out about her. Mike and I did not exactly have the best marriage. We were forced to marry each other when we were both 18 years old after my parents died, and my pack decided to throw me out because they could not bear to have a female alpha. I was just there to make sure that I gave him babies that were alphas before he ascended the throne. It was the cheapest way to do it without his father going bankrupt trying to find an alpha lady to marry his son, which would give him a better shot at having alpha children. They hid me from the public eye and practically erased all records of my past life, then gave me a new identity so I would not expose myself as his wife. He was so embarrassed of me that not even some of his closest friends knew that he had a wife. The ones that knew, he forced them to sign an NDA to make sure that they did not out us. Mike was civil with me in the first years of my marriage but when he found out that I could not give birth, he started to treat me even worse than he used to. Sometimes, he would starve me and try to mate with me all night in hopes that I would be pregnant. But I never did. I gave myself contraceptive shots and pills every night, because I would rather die than have his baby. I thought my plans were all going well until now. I did not know who to call or who to tell. When he told me that he wanted us to separate since this marriage had no meaning, he looked the happiest I had ever seen him in six years. He told me that I was useless since I could not give him an heir, and he wanted to marry the actual love of his life. He offered me alimony to start my life away from the pack to make sure no one knew I was ever married to him. ‘My reputation would be on the line if people knew I was married to a woman who is as weak as you. An alpha lady cursed with a dysfunctional, dying wolf. You’re an anomaly and a disgrace.’ He said to me when I told him that I did not want to start a new life elsewhere with no one to protect me. It didn’t even hurt because I was used to hearing that language from him. I was about to leave the hospital to figure out my next plan of action when my phone rang, I opened my bag to bring it out and I was shocked when I saw Mike calling me. I thought he was supposed to be with his new fiancee, why was he then calling me? “Hello?” I answered quietly as I sat down on the chair when a wave of nausea hit me. “Where are you?” He spat, his tone filled with venom. I could not remember the last time he spoke to me like he did not want to murder me. “Umm… in the hospital. I have a little bit of an infection.” I lied. I didn't even know if I should tell him about the pregnancy. “Is that why you left me seated in the court for half an hour waiting for you?” I heard him shout bitterly on the other side of the phone. I totally forgot that the divorce was going to be finalized now. I totally lost track of time after I met the doctor and she gave me that news. “I am so sorry, Mike. I will be there in a few minutes.” I said as I rushed out of the hospital. “There is no need for that.” He ended the call abruptly. I groaned as I placed my phone back in my bag as I navigated the parking lot. I tried to fumble for my keys in my bag but just then, a car came in that I recognised all too well. It was Mike. I paused, shocked as to how he found his way here after he told me that he was at the court. Mike rolled down his window and his girlfriend, Alisha, was seated in the passenger seat. I could give him that, she is very pretty. I found out that she is a very high paying model. Size 0, tall, blonde, and pretty. She was everything a man would want, and I was the opposite of her. Mike came out of the car and Alisha followed right behind him. She was glued to his arm as they walked towards me. It would have hurt me back when I had feelings for him. But this relationship was ancient history now. I couldn't care less about her or him. In fact, I want this divorce to finally happen so I can be free and happy. “I told you that I was going to come to the courthouse now. You did not need to come here.” I told him as I clutched my bag to myself, feeling suddenly self conscious. “Did you come to meet one of the men you whore out your body to?” He glared at me condescendingly. I rolled my eyes at him, “You’re sick. Just because you cheat and do not respect the sacred meaning of marriage does not mean that I do not. Believe it or not but I have never touched another man apart from you my entire life.” “My best guess is that it doesn’t have to do with the morals you gained from your incompetent dead parents. It is because no man would actually want to touch you.” He snarled and he and his girlfriend snickered. “If it was not out of obligation I wouldn’t touch you with a ten foot pole.” I swallowed as I remembered what he always told me. Side effects of the contraceptives made me gain some weight, which Mike seemed to hate. He bullied me about it until he realized that I did not care about any of his hurtful words. I am just always glad that I did not give him what he wanted, and all that for what? I still ended up with his child in my womb now. “I bet you always use a blindfold so you can think of me when you’re in bed with her, right?” Alisha smiled up at him. “Blindfold is too much, babes. Closing my eyes is enough. Thinking of you is the only way I can get it up. Thank goodness for imagination.” He allowed her to melt into his arms. For some reason, that just made me so angry. How dare they stand in front of me, being all so happy and lovey dovey. I deserve that too, don’t I? I was the person that was with him through thick and thin. When he was forced to become alpha at a young age, and when his father died. I was there for him. Yet he never loved me. He was just using me for my body while I loved and supported him for six years of my life. Those are years gone, that will never come back. “I hope you know that he is going to do what he did to me to you,” I reminded her, crossing my arms over my chest. It was my turn to smirk now. “A few years along the line the beauty will fade. He will use you for your body and for heirs and when you do not give him that, he will dispose of you and find a prettier woman to replace you with.” “Just because he got tired of your ugly, fat ass doesn’t mean he will get tired of me. Unlike me, he never loved you. He just married you for an heir and you couldn’t give him one,” she twisted her lips into a smirk. “That was why he left you. It is not rocket science. Any logical man wouldn’t want to stand having to fuck a woman that looks like you every day.” Something popped off in me at that moment. The humiliation felt like a slap to my face— or even worse. I felt like I was hit by a bulldozer of humiliation. “You stupid whore.” I did not know when I smacked her right across the face and she flew to the ground while she clutched her cheek. She cried and Mike literally dove towards her to check if she was fine. When he realized she was, he raised his head to look at me and his eyes were filled with hate. It made me flinch. Mike stood up and I thought he was about to slap me too. I waited for it to come, but it didn’t. Instead, he backed me up to the car behind me, and then he placed his hand around my throat and squeezed hard. It felt like my entire breath had just been knocked off me as I tried to get his hands but he was too strong. “I am going to fucking kill you.” He whispered as he squeezed harder. “Mike, please…” I begged as I thrashed him to let me go and just then, a sound came from behind. It sounded so faint to my ears that I thought I was imagining it. “Let go of her!” The voice boomed.SOFIAMike let go of my neck a little as he turned to look at the person who spoke.A man walked towards us and even after almost being choked to death, I had to admire how good he looked. He had mesmerizing kind blue eyes, long chestnut brown hair, and a killer jawline. He looked like he was sculpted perfectly from clay. I wasn’t sure if he was from here because of his attire. He wore a long brown coat over his clothes and when he was close enough, I could see how tall he was. Way taller than even Mike even though he was like 6’2. “What is going on here?” The man asked as he looked between us in confusion. I did not know him but I was already scared for his life. Mike had a reputation for being ruthless. As the alpha of the pack and one of the richest alphas, he could easily destroy his life. Take away his job and kill off anyone who tries to stand in his way. “Mind your business.” He snapped as he let go of me completely and he turned to face the man. I let out a normal breath
SOFIA The ride back to his house was smooth. I was quiet in his car, afraid to even make a move that was going to irritate him. I did not know anything about lycans. All I did know was either fake or it was mixed with fabricated lies.Lycans were our superiors. The highest in the hierarchy. They were all billionaires and trillionaires who owned all of the businesses in the world. They employ alpha werewolves and give out alpha titles to whomever they see fit.Everything was practically a transaction to them, and we did not mind because without them we would be poor. The higher your rank in their companies, the richer you become and the more chances that you become the alpha of your pack.Mike got in by chance after our marriage and he became one of the richest werewolf alphas in the world. The lycan kings often never come in sight but have managers who relay their information. Their packs and palaces are so heavily guarded that only a small percentage of werewolves have ever gotten
SOFIA I froze. His words left me in shock. Did I hear right or I was only hallucinating?I fiddled with my hands, gently raising my head to him. “I'm sorry, I don't think I heard you right sir.”He swallowed hard, his gaze fixed on me. “If you'll be coming with me to my pack, then I want us to get married.”The words choked me. “I'm sorry, but why do I have to get married to you?”I was scared. Having just gotten out of an abusive marriage that lasted for six years, getting into another wasn't what I wanted now. What if he wasn't any different from Mike? There was no prior news about him, so there's no way I could tell.He smiled. Gosh!! That smile.It.. it made my heart flutter. Oh, was flutter the right word? I wasn't sure, but then.I remained quiet, my mind racing with thoughts.“Why do you want to get married to me?” Finally, I asked. He moved closer until only a few inches were between us. “I am not sure if this would sound nice to you, but I'd say it anyway. I need an heir t
SOFIA'S POVQuickly, I broke away from him.Damn it. How could I get so lost in my emotions that way? We both were panting. The longing for each other— it was quite visible in our eyes. For a minute, the air between us was tense. I gulped down saliva, fiddling with my hands.“I'm sorry, Sofia. I didn't mean to.”“It's okay..” He smiled. “You should complete your meal. I have some urgent business to attend to.”He sprung to his feet, moving briskly. I watched him until I could no longer see his figure.Frustrated, I sighed. At this point, I was confused. Thinking straight seemed quite impossible. Now that I had agreed to get married to Dane, I had this anxiety burning deep in me. Rushing into a new marriage had never crossed my path even once, but saying No to Dane wasn't quite easy. He was the Lycan king and seemed like a very good man. I couldn't be so sure though.“This is crazy.” I hissed and then continued with my meal. With every spoon that I took, I was remembered of the cold
SOFIA'S POV “What's the problem sir? Have I done something wrong?” Mike asked, confused.I was curious as well, if not more curious than he was. “Perhaps if you weren't blind, then you would realize that my Lady is standing right beside me, and deserve to be respected as well.”I grinned within myself, pride engulfing me. “Can you imagine the level of disrespect?”One glance at Mike and I could see the embarrassment flushed on his face. The joy it gave me, nothing could compare.Mike bit hard at his lower lips. “I'm sorry sir. I meant no disrespect.”“My lady, is sorry enough for the disrespect caused to you?”I chuckled. “No, it's not. A proper greeting would suffice.”Dane snapped his fingers dramatically. “You heard her right? Greet.”By this time, almost half of the people gathered, had their gazes fixed on us.Mike stare was hard and could have bore into my skin if it was possible. I could feel the rage burning deep inside of him. “Good morning Sophia,” the words traced from h
DANE’S POV Sofia appeared a bit anxious. It was in her eyes even though she tried concealing it.I had been dying to have her since the first day we met. Now, I wasn't sure I could hold up anymore. She had agreed to marry me already, and in a few days, we would be husband and wife. The thought alone made me excited.Somehow, this excitement shot through my body and down to my cock. It sprung up, ready for action. My hand was on Sofia's soft skin already. It managed to tickle me in a way I couldn't understand. No doubt, she was the prettiest of them all. Determined, I forged on, rubbing her thighs with reckless abandon. The hairs on her skin stood taut as I rubbed deeper. I was certain she wanted this just as much ss I did. Without hesitation, I moved towards her boobs, cupping them in my hands. The shock was written clearly on her face. Her jaws dropped in mesmerization.“We.. we shouldn't be doing this,” Her tiny voice rang in protest. It sounded more to me like a plea to protest
SOFIA'S POV I wasn't sure how many times I was going to hear how much Dane hated to be betrayed. Those were exactly what he wanted to tell me minutes ago. He had sounded so serious and firm, etching fear within me. “Sofia,” he called, his voice soft. My head raised to him, dying to hear what he was going to say. “Please, Make sure you do not betray me.”I chuckled even though I didn't find it funny. “Of course I wouldn't. What makes you think I would?”My brows creased as I awaited a response from him. “I'm not sure, and I don't think you would, I'm only just saying.’In those eyes of his, I could see the tension in them. The pain of past betrayal. It was heavy in those endeared eyes of his.I grabbed his hands. “You've got nothing to worry about. “I am yours now, and you are mine.”“Really?” His face brightened.I nodded, smiling. Dane pulled me closer, locking me in a warm and tight embrace.Suddenly, a knock rang on the door, disrupting us. “That must be the chef.”He rose to h
SOFIA'S POV I shuddered. The voice took me aback in no small way. Quickly, I turned my head and behind me stood a middle aged woman. She couldn't be more than forty five years of age.Her face was stern and frightening as well. “Mom,” Dane called, his countenance brightening. Oh, I thought as much.“Good afternoon ma'am,” I spluttered, still anxious. She ogled at me, unshaken.“Who's she?” She asked again. I swallowed hard, anxiety etching deeper in me. I fiddled with my hands as Dane spoke.“Mom. Meet Sofia, my soon to be wife.”“Wife?” She chuckled. A sinister grimace had worn itself onto her face already. “You didn't tell me about her before now.”“Really? I'm sorry about that.”“Sorry? Would that solve anything?”From the looks of things, I could tell she was going to be a pain in the ass. One enemy spotted already.I didn't like this, not a single bit.“What are you talking about, Mom? What else do you need me to do or say?”“Well, I don't know what you plan on doing, but as f
SOFIA'S POV I sat still, my eyes darting around. Nothing made sense to me, definitely not the room I was in.My eyes darted around. They bore the confusion in my heart as I remained still. The door flung open abruptly. A nurse strolled in. She was fully covered. Strange. My brows creased as I glared at her for answers.“Finally! You're awake.” She smiled. It was quite contagious, but not to me though. “What's going on? Why am I here?” My displeasure was obvious, not in any way hidden.“You shouldn't be sitting here,” she muttered as I tried sitting upright. A sharp pain hit me hard in the back. I groaned, laying backwards at once.I was puzzled, and this nurse wasn't making things easier. Why wouldn't she answer me? My patience was starting to wane. “Why am I here?” Again, I asked. I snapped. “The doctor will be here soon,” she responded, and that was all. Her lips remained grimly pressed against each other as she did some things in there. I didn't pay attention to it, so there w
SELENE'S POV This is the first time you'd be hearing directly from me. I'm the only one in the right state of mind to do so though.Sofia was unconscious, fighting for her life. Dane was a shadow of him, broken by the causality that had befallen his wife.I sat in a corner, my hands fiddling against each other. The tears grew in my eyes. For the last hour, they had flown freely down my face…No attempt did I make at stopping them. An hour, and Sofia was still in the theatre.“We would have to operate on her,” the doctor had said to Dane and I after Sofia's examination. “She's been poisoned.” His voice had been cold. “A rare kind of Wolfsbane. We would have to operate on the queen.”Dane’s face had grown cold. He was terrified. Who could have done that to his wife? “Please do everything you can to save her.”It felt like an entire day had gone by since then. I was impatient. Seeing Sofia alive and well was all I wanted.“She'll be fine.” My arm wrapped around him. He snorted, his hea
DANE'S POV The name seemed to ring a bell, or maybe I thought it did.“No, I don't.” I smiled as Sofia flung the question in my face. We remained in each other's arms and the long for her intensified. My cock had grown hard, pressing hard through the trousers I wore. No doubt, Sofia could feel it against her thigh.Right then, my belly made a loud rumble. Sofia raised her head to me, laughing. “That was loud, wasn't it?”“You should ignore it.” “You sure? Have you had anything to eat today?” She asked, a worried grimace on her.I shook my head. “I can eat after I have eaten.” I leaned closer, my lips sucking hard at her neck. She giggled, a soft moan trailing from her lips. She pushed forward, her boobs pressing hard against my chest. Her nipples stood taut, pleading to be caressed.I latched at them, fondling with reckless abandon. She giggled, wincing. “Do you know what I'm going to do now?” I whispered gently at her, nibbling at her ears.“Oh I do.” Her eyes rolled. Just the wa
SOFIA'S POV Soon, it was the close of school. I was pleased, and happy too. Quite exhausted and warned nothing but to relax. Selene was done with her class too. She smiled as she approached me, picking her steps one after the other.“So how was your first day at school, generally?” Her hand held mine— warm and tender. I exhaled, my eyes filled with a strange joy.“It was nice. Really really nice. It would be lovely coming here everyday, or what do you think?” Silence. Then a deep sigh. I knew what that sigh meant though.“I can bet you'd soon get tired of coming here. You're only this excited before it's the first time after a long while.”I giggled. She was right, but not entirely. I could never get tired of studying, or even coming here to the school. There was this happened that came with being here.“Maybe. Maybe not. Waiting till that moment to find out would be better…” “I'm a bit hungry. You?” I clutched my stomach, my lips pouted. “Same here.. we can grab some food at a r
DANE'S POV I sat at my office desk, the morning sun shining through the tall windows. The room was quiet, just the soft ticking of the wall clock and the gentle hum of the air.Papers were placed neatly in front of me, my laptop screen was open. But I couldn’t even remember what I was supposed to be working on.I sighed and leaned back in my chair. “Come on, Dane,” I whispered to myself. “Just focus.”But my mind wasn’t listening. All I could think about… was her.Sofia.The way she had smiled at me that morning… so soft and full of hope. The way her hand lingered in mine before she left. The way Selene teased us, and how she had blushed and looked down shyly. She looked like a schoolgirl, yet so strong at the same time.I smiled to myself. My chest felt warm just thinking about her.I took a deep breath and ran a hand over my face.“She’s safe,” I muttered quietly. “She has guards. Selene is with her. There’s no reason to worry.”Still… I did. Not because I didn’t trust the guards
SOFIA'S POV I really did love it there—the school. The moment I stepped in, I felt it. Peace. Like a quiet song playing in the wind. The air was cool and smelled of fresh leaves and old books. The tall trees stood proud, their long branches dancing gently in the morning breeze. Birds sang somewhere nearby. The gardens were neatly trimmed, and every flower looked like it had bloomed just for that day.It was calm. So calm. And after everything that had happened in the palace—the fear, the shadow in the room, the tension—I needed calm more than anything.Selene walked beside me, her hands behind her back, looking around with her usual sharp eyes.“Nice place,” she said, nodding. “Quiet. Smells like nothing's ever gone wrong here.”“That’s why I like it,” I said, my voice soft. “For once, I want to feel normal.”As we walked past students and teachers, people turned their heads. A few girls stopped talking and just stared. One of them gave a small wave and smiled shyly.“Good mor
DANE'S POV I stood over his bleeding body, the weight of what I had done pressing heavily on me. His blood, dark and thick, pooled around him on the cold stone floor. The iron scent filled the room, and I could feel it in my nostrils, sharp and bitter, like a reminder of the choice I had made.My hands shook slightly, but not from fear—no, not fear. My heart raced with something different. .I had seen him, the Northerner, his eyes wild, his expression twisted with fury as he charged at me. He had wanted my life. He had come for me, just like I had known he would. The knife in my hands had stopped him—just in time. The gash in his belly was enough to slow him, enough to take his strength away. And now here he was, crumpled at my feet.I knew it wouldn’t sit well with the North. This was their man—one of their own. The anger, the rage, it would be loud, I was sure of it. But I didn’t care. Let them say what they would. Let them call it an insult, an act of war, whatever they wanted
DANE'S POV The next morning, I was walking through the halls when a guard came to me and said, “My Lord, the guest from the North wishes to speak with you. He says it is urgent.”I frowned. It was still early, and I hadn’t expected to see him until much later in the day. I nodded and followed the guard. When I reached the guest chambers, the man from the North stood near the window, already dressed and packed. His clothes were neat, but his face wasn’t calm like before. He looked… unsettled. His hands were tight at his sides, and there was no sign of his usual smirk or boldness.“You wanted to see me?” I asked, stepping into the room.He turned around quickly, almost too quickly. “Yes,” he said. “I must return to the North. Immediately.”I raised an eyebrow. “So soon? You said you’d stay a few more days.”He gave a stiff nod. “Yes. I did. But… something has come up. Very urgent.”I took a step closer, watching him carefully. “Is everything alright?” I asked. “You don’t seem like you
SOFIA'S POV That night, everything felt too quiet. The room was dark, the windows open just a little to let in the night air. The moonlight fell softly on the floor, and the box from the northern man sat on the table—untouched. I hadn’t opened it. I didn’t dare. Something about it still made my skin crawl.Dane had stepped out for a while to handle something with the guards. He said he wouldn’t be long. I told him I’d wait up.But now, alone in the room, I started to feel something strange. The air grew cold—colder than before. And then I felt it… a presence. Like someone else was in the room with me.I sat up slowly on the bed, my heart pounding in my chest. “Hello?” I whispered, my voice shaking. “Is someone there?”Silence. But then I saw it—a shadow moving by the corner of the room. It wasn’t the wind. It wasn’t my imagination. Someone… something… was there. My throat tightened. I couldn’t move. The figure stepped closer. I couldn’t see its face, but I could feel the danger. It
