LEAH

The garden that was once filled with smiles and happiness was now filled with screams of maids and clashes of swords, where in the world were the men?

My heart raced in my chest, each beat pounding louder than the last as I gripped the hilt of my dagger. The air was thick with the clash of metal, the frantic shouts of warriors, and the sickening scent of blood. The garden filled with the echo of growls, snarls, and the frantic thud of boots hitting the ground as bodies collided.

Around me, the Lunas were fighting fiercely. I could hear their grunts and the sharp sounds of blades cutting through the air, their bodies swift and agile as they moved with the precision of warriors. No one was screaming, not out of fear, but because the battle had already begun. There was no room for panic. Not here. Not now

I couldn't help but turn around for even a glimpse of Dante but I didn't see and I knew too well that i needed to handle this alone

I could feel the adrenaline coursing through my veins, every muscle tense as I parried the strike of a rogue, my dagger slipping through the air with practiced ease. He wasn’t prepared for the speed at which I reacted. I pushed him back, a quick twist of my wrist sending him stumbling.

The taste of victory was short-lived, though. Another rogue, bigger and more reckless, came charging at me from the left. I barely dodged the swing of his blade, the sharp steel slicing through the air with a deadly hiss. I managed to get in close, slashing at his arm before he could take another swing.

He howled, retreating. I didn’t let him go too far, but my thoughts, my focus, kept slipping.

Why was this happening now? What had triggered this? Was this just some rogue attack, or was there something more? I had heard whispers of unrest, but nothing had prepared me for this level of coordination. This was no random strike. It was an orchestrated attack.

Another rogue lunged at me from the shadows, his eyes wild with desperation. I kicked him back, trying to clear my head, trying to focus on the here and now.

But then I saw him.

Through the smoke, through the chaos, Hans. He moved like a shadow, cutting through the madness with the same calm precision I had always admired. His eyes flicked to me across the garden, and for a moment, time seemed to slow down. The world felt smaller, the noise less deafening. His gaze locked with mine, no words exchanged, but the connection was there, undeniable

I didn't know where he had been the entire time, hell I haven't seen him since morning but now I couldn't help but be happy about seeing him in the midst of this even if it was still much of a surprise that the men were still not here, were they really that engrossed in the meeting?

But I couldn’t afford to get distracted. Not now. Not when everything around me was falling apart.

I pushed myself harder, fighting off rogue after rogue, my body screaming in protest. There was no time to think about what might be coming next, no time to wonder why they were here. I just needed to survive. I needed to protect those around me.

And then, I felt it.

A searing pain, slicing through my side. The rogue’s blade struck with the speed of a lightning bolt, the impact sending shockwaves through my ribs. I gasped, stumbling back, the air rushing from my lungs as blood began to drip from the wound. My vision blurred for a split second, but I refused to let it take me down. I couldn’t fall. Not now.

My mind was foggy, the adrenaline starting to wear off as my body screamed at me to stop. To give in. But I couldn’t. I wouldn’t.

Another rogue, his grin twisted in malice, came at me again. This time, my limbs felt sluggish. My arms didn’t respond as quickly as they should, my dagger slipping in my grasp as I tried to defend myself. Something was wrong. The pain in my side wasn’t just from the strike anymore. My body felt like it was turning against me.

I reached for my dagger again, but my hand trembled, my fingers unable to grasp the weapon firmly. I tried to push through it, to ignore the fog that clouded my mind. But I couldn’t. I couldn’t stay upright.

Everything started to slip. My head grew heavy, my thoughts scattered and disjointed. The battle seemed to blur, turning into flashes of chaotic movement and the distant sounds of shouts. A cold dread gripped my chest as I realized I was losing control.

And then, through the haze, I saw Hans again, thank the heavens for this man or I would have probably been dead with the about of times he had saved me from close death

His figure emerged from the chaos, pushing through the throng of bodies. His eyes were locked on me, desperation in his every movement. He was too far away. The battle was too loud. But I could see him. I could feel his gaze on me.

But it was too late.

A rogue leader appeared out of nowhere, stepping into my line of sight. He moved fast, his hand quick and efficient as he pressed something to my face something soft, something foul.

Wolfsbane.

I inhaled deeply, and the poison rushed into my system, too fast, too strong. It burned through me, clamping down on my consciousness, stealing the very air from my lungs. I struggled, my body seizing as the world around me began to spin.

I couldn’t fight it. I couldn’t fight him.

I saw Hans reach for me, his hand outstretched, his lips moving, but I couldn’t hear him. His voice was distant, muffled, as though I were submerged underwater. His features were a blur now, fading in and out as the fog crept in, taking everything.

The pain in my side flared again, sharper this time. My knees buckled, and I collapsed to the ground, unable to hold myself up anymore. My vision darkened, and my thoughts scattered like leaves in a storm.

I heard him then, his voice, barely a whisper, calling my name.

But it was too late. I tried to pull on to the mate bond to reach Dante but it was hopeless, I couldn't reach it no matter how much I tried

Before Hans's hands could reach me, before I could feel his touch I felt my body being pulled and everything went black.

  • ONCE REJECTED, NOW HIS OBSESSION   Chapter 55

DANTE The day had finally come and Alpha Dante was making the final announcement to the senior pack committee. He was going to leave later at night when everyone was in the confines of their beds because he didn't want anyone to know where he was going, to avoid the risk of them following him. Everybody was not happy with Alpha Dante's temporary exchange of power but when they heard the reason, they backed him and he was happy that they did. He would not have been able to live with himself if they didn't. "I leave you guys in good hands, with the man that was there for both me and my father whenever we needed him. My uncle, Charles Lockwood." He took the hand of his uncle and raised it. The rest of the committee rose their hands up reluctantly, which made Alpha Dante feel a knot in his stomach. He gave them a sad smile before he took a step back for their temporary new king to speak. "I know all of you here are used to having Alpha Dante as your king, and I respect that be

  • ONCE REJECTED, NOW HIS OBSESSION   Chapter 54

LEAH It has been three days since the incident with Paula and Alpha Victor happened and I had not been able to step foot outside. I was enraged, knowing that Paula had probably moved in with him by now because they were mates. If they slept together, their bond would hold them to each other and they wouldn’t be able to leave again. Especially after she has been gone for a long time. I couldn’t help but feel like the both of them used me for their selfish gain. While she was gone, Victor used me as a distraction and now that she is back, I was tossed away like an empty bag of nothing. It hurt me more than it was supposed to. I felt like I was slowly slipping into the depression phase because I had barely eaten since that night, and I had not bathed since then. But when I saw how time was ticking and moving, not bothering to wait for anybody, I knew that I had to do something or else my entire life would go to shit. I wanted to leave the pack and head to another, where no one

  • ONCE REJECTED, NOW HIS OBSESSION   Chapter 53

DANTE Alpha Dante toasted a cup to his uncle with a smile on his face as they went down the memory lane. He laughed as his uncle reminded him of all the goofy things he had done when he was young, all the sacrifices he made for the pack and all his parents did for love. He convinced him that no matter what, love always came first for the wolves in their pack. His father may not have done worse when it came to love but he knew if he was in that situation, he would do it without thinking twice. It was a day before Alpha Dante left the Aurora pack to the Tick moon pack with nothing but a carry-on of his clothes and money. He was going to make a brand new life in the neighboring pack since he had never shown his face, or had a meeting with anyone from the pack. Whatever relationship the both of them had come as a result of the pack members, and barely ever from the pack Alphas. “You have always been successful Dante, it wouldn’t be any different this time. I promise.” He placed

LEAH We got to the palace late at night. The doors to the palace were closed, the Omegas were back at their log cabins but the bodyguards still stood, the night shifters who I’m sure came in just a few minutes ago. I was sure Alpha Robert was in our room, trying to get some sleep after a long day. I’m sure he hadn’t fallen asleep because I could peek at some light right from the threshold of the palace. “You should get my clothes upstairs,” I told my maid as I stepped into the house. The bodyguards were surprised to see me, but they greeted me nevertheless and welcomed me back. “Okay, ma.” She nodded before she headed upstairs to my room where I kept some of my stuff. Alpha Robert didn’t allow any Omega into our room because of reasons unknown to me, but I knew it had to do with his mother. She was that way towards the Omegas too, even though Robert was softer than she was to them. I headed towards the fridge that just had its position changed recently. We always did

  • ONCE REJECTED, NOW HIS OBSESSION   Chapter 51

DANTE Dante's days were getting longer and each day that passed. He was barely able to have a good night's sleep before waking up in sweats and horror, unconscious of his surroundings. He was getting tired of it and taking Maria's advice suddenly didn't seem like a very bad idea. He was at the pack meeting, but he was barely concentrating on what the pack's committee was saying because of his lack of sleep in him. He caught himself dozing off a few times since the meeting started, which confused both his Beta and the rest of the committee because they knew Alpha Dante never showed a weak side. Even when he was sick, he would rather stay back in the palace than come down to the meeting and show a sign of weakness like sleep. "Alpha Brain," Beta Louis, who was closest to him touched his arm which jerked him up from his reverie. He brought his hand up to his forehead and massaged it before he turned to look at him. "What is it, Louis?" He asked. Beta Louis looked at him in

  • ONCE REJECTED, NOW HIS OBSESSION   Chapter 50

LEAH The next few days at my home were the best. I loved how I was being treated by Alpha Robert, which was strange compared to who he was a few days ago. It was quite surprising for a man that had that sort of tantrum to turn out to be all forgiving and loving in the next second. I was surprised but I knew I had to enjoy it while it lasted. “Are you done dressing up my queen?” He asked, planting a subtle kiss on my cheek and hugging me from behind. My body radiated with heat as thoughts of last night came rushing into my mind. I loved having sex with him, but I knew deep in my heart he wasn’t the one I wanted to be with. He was not my mate, he was my sister’s. It felt wrong letting him fuck me with every chance he got after I came back, even though I knew it had a lot to do with Paula. “Yes.” I nodded, a fake smile appearing on my lips as I tied my hair into my usual hairstyle. I decided to change my choice of clothing today because Alpha Robert’s mother would be here to ta

  • ONCE REJECTED, NOW HIS OBSESSION   Chapter 49

RACHEL A sharp scream evaded my throat as I got to my chamber and found the lock broken and droplets of blood at the threshold of my house. I was too slow and had gotten there way before Alpha Robert did, and I could see he had succeeded in breaking the locks of my house with his hands which only meant that his wolf side was beginning to show, and it only happens when he is extremely angry. I pushed the door open and rushed to my room where I could hear a little bit of whisper coming from it. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath as I prepared myself to see the worst before I opened the room, and what I saw there made my fear rise a notch. My room was completely scattered, my furniture broken and my walls scarred with punch marks. I brought my hand up to my mouth and covered it in shock as I analyzed the damage Alpha Robert did to my room before anger started to sear through my veins. But this wasn't the time to be angry, especially because of what I did to him. I didn't k

  • ONCE REJECTED, NOW HIS OBSESSION   Chapter 48

DANTE Alpha Dante tried to get the thought of what Maria told him out of his head. He used his usual tricks of making himself forget what was going on- like burying himself in work or going out hunting during the full moon when he transformed but all that didn’t work. He was still stuck in his sad little bubble that was getting worse and messing with his head with every day that passed. Today, he resorted to doing something he had not done for a very long time. Sex. He used to be able to keep it in his pants for an incredibly long time because of the self-control he learned to have ever since he was young but he knew he needed it now. If not, he would either go spiraling or go ahead with what his sister told him which was the last option in his mind. He called in one of his many royal concubines that were just living, waiting to be called by him. Every Alpha that didn’t have a Luna yet had a bunch of them provided by the pack but Alpha Dante slept with them only once in a blue

  • ONCE REJECTED, NOW HIS OBSESSION   Chapter 47

The days went faster than the nights because of dealing with Paula when I got back to my chamber. I was starting to get irritated with her with every day that passed, and I knew it had everything with her changing an environment because that was certainly not how she was before. “When do you plan to clean up the goddamn room Paula?” Anger seared through my body as I found her laying on my bed with a box of chips made for me by the maids. It was hard to make them because of our potato scarcity, and I craved them all the time. So now that I had the power to have it whenever I wanted, I took the opportunity faster than lightning. “I will clean it, stop whining. You know you don’t have to go through all these if you just tell Robbie about our plan right?” I folded my hands over my chest which was covered with a dry towel I just wrapped around me after bathing. “You don’t tell me what to do Paula.” I turned my head away as a weight settled in my chest when I remembered our l
