Allison's POV

Elsa was right about the picnic. Who knew what I needed to improve my mood was to sit in a windy park and enjoy the good weather while munching on tasty treats with my best friend.

"We should have done this sooner," I say, leaning back on my hands.

"I told you so," Elsa replies with a grin. "This is why you should always listen to me."

"I always listen to you," I say.

"Not true," she replies. "Would you listen if I told you to stop avoiding Xander?"

A cookie pauses on its way to my mouth, and I gape at Elsa. I wait for her to laugh it off, but she just keeps watching me steadily.

She's serious, I think with horror.

"I'm not avoiding him," I say, forcing a laugh.

But Elsa doesn't laugh along. Her expression remains serious as she leans forward and lays her hand on my arm.

"Yes you are, Allison," she says simply.

I brush her hand off and shoot to my feet, staring at her in shock.

"I explained the whole thing to you," I say as I start to pace in frustration. "This isn't abo

Allison's POVI freeze at the spot.My legs have turned to jelly, and I can only watch as Tamara rises to her full height."If it isn't the famous Allison Carter," she says, smirking at me, "I've been waiting forever for you to come back."Instantly, I understand the reason behind the sudden hatred at the company. It was her, whispering into the people's ears. I should have known. It has always been her. I'm in terrible danger right now.I should run. I should run to the door and get the hell out of this place. But I can't move. And with each step Tamara takes towards me, I feel my heart rate increase. At least call Xander! my mind begs. You'll die if you do nothing. This woman will kill you!But my hands lie limp at my sides, not responding no matter how hard I try to move them."What are you doing here?" I ask in a shaky voice."How rude," Tamara replies, stopping some steps away from me. "You should be treating me with a little more respect. We're practically sisters-in-law at this

  • ONE NIGHT STAND WITH MY ALPHA CEO    Chapter 64

Allison's POVWhile i'm still thinking about whether or not I should move back in with Xander, I have decided to stop hiding from him. And my first step towards keeping to this decision is putting an end to my leave.I've talked about this with Ian and Elsa, and now Ian is on a leave instead. He has taken her out just this morning, and they plan to spend the whole day hanging out.Even as I drive into the company, it makes me smile to think about that. I hope those two can have the talk they need to have. There's been this gap between them lately, what with Ian keeping his distance out of guilt, but I hope that goes away too.'How is your date going, Elsa?' I type.'It is not a date' she types back.I can literally see her flustered face all the way from here, and it makes me giggle.'I know it's about to turn into one soon,' I type out with a mischievous grin.Elsa sends a string of skull emojis, and if I wasn't directly in front of the main building by now, I would have bursted into

  • ONE NIGHT STAND WITH MY ALPHA CEO    Chapter 62

Allison's POV"Xander, I'm moving out of your house."I'm not looking at him as I say this. If I look at him, I'll lose my nerve, and I can't afford to do that. I'm trying to do the right thing, for the sake of everyone I love.Xander's silence is shocked, and I can literally hear him discarding several responses. Eventually he settles on "why?"He doesn't sound angry. He sounds concerned, and kind of sad. He sounds ready to understand my answer even though I haven't even said a word. Somehow, that makes everything worse. This would be easier if he just got angry with me. Maybe then I would feel a little less guilty about this."I have to stay by Elsa's side while she recovers," I reply. "I'll move into her apartment for the duration of her recovery."That's only half of the truth. I do want to take care of Elsa while she recovers, but I'm using it as an excuse to move out of Xander's house. I'm tired of living in a shell of comfort while everyone else suffers because of me. If I don'

Rachel's POVDamn it! I can't believe I screwed up again! That poison was supposed to be for Allison Carter. She is the reason I endured arguing with that assistant over something so stupid. And while she was busy talking smugly, the little bitch, I slipped the poison into the coffee without anyone noticing.I should have been sitting with my legs up on a couch, victoriously sipping wine as I learn about Allison Carter's death.Instead, I'm hearing that Xander is searching for the culprit. At this point, I'm not even surprised anymore. It's clear that as long as that woman lives, Xander will continue to act like a fool. I can't help muttering angrily as I flip from channel to channel on my television. I'm about to throw the remote control at the screen when my phone rings, and of course it's Tamara calling."What do you want now?" I snap into the phone. There's a stunned silence from her end. The spoilt brat. I guess no one ever speaks to her the way she deserves."I'm going to let th

  • ONE NIGHT STAND WITH MY ALPHA CEO    Chapter 60

Allison's POVElsa has been poisoned. The doctors' words won't stop ringing in my ears as I pace from one end of the waiting room to the other. It's clear that the poison was in the coffee, which means that the poison was meant for me. Whoever did this wanted to hurt me, and now Elsa is the one suffering instead. This can't be happening, I think, my whole body trembling as I tug at my hair in anguish. I've gotten used to the pack's displeasure. I've come to expect that people would want to hurt me for daring to love Xander. Why didn't it occur to me that my friends might get caught up in this?I'm clawing at my scalp now. I don't know if I'm trying to punish myself or if I just want to create enough pain to swallow up the agony inside me, but I just can't stop.Someone grabs my hands and pulls them away from my hair. I don't know who. They're talking but I can't hear anything. And I can't see… why can't I see? Why can't I breathe? I'm gasping for air but nothing is coming in and I cle
