Chapter 2

Blue stood before Onel with a smug smile on his face. "You've served your purpose, omega," he declared. "I've given you the honor of serving me, your alpha. Now, all that's left for you to do is to die."

Onel's heart pounded with fear as he looked into Blue's cold, calculating eyes. "A-Are you saying that my parents' death wasn't an accident?" he stammered. "D-Did you...kill them?"

Blue's smile widened. "It was a hard battle," he replied. "They fought so desperately until their last breath. But they were too damn upright, that's why they died. They shouldn't have messed with me. They should have known they wouldn't win."

As Blue spoke, Sabina, Onel's adoptive sister, stepped forward. "Hush now, dear brother," she said. "Don't worry, you will meet our parents soon."

Onel's heart sank as he realized that Sabina had known all along what had happened to their parents. "Sabina, did you know that as well?" he asked.

"They served the wrong Alpha," Sabina replied coldly. "Whatever happened to them, they deserved it. May they rest in peace...with you."

Michael, one of Blue's followers, spoke up. "That's the second lesson you gotta learn before you die, omega," he said. "Choose whom you should be loyal to."

Onel clenched his hands in anger and despair. "Pray that I don't get to live after this because if I do," he vowed, "I will make all of you pay tenfold for what you did to me and to my parents!"

Everyone burst into laughter at Onel's words, but Blue's smile turned to a scowl. "Enough of this bullshit," he growled. "I have matters to attend to after this. Goodbye, slut."

With that, Blue extended his claws and buried them deep in Onel's heart.

Onel's vision grew blurry with tears as he looked up at the full moon. "Why are the Goddesses so cruel to me?" he thought. "Is this really how my life would end?"

As he took his last breath, Onel heard Sabina and the warriors laughing at his misery. With a heavy heart, he closed his eyes.

"Young master, please wake up!" she urged. "It's past five in the afternoon already. There are still so many things we need to prepare for your coming-of-age party. You can't be late to your own party!"

As Onel opened his eyes, he was bewildered by his surroundings. He found himself in his old room, the very same room he had left behind after he married Alpha Blue. It was a place he thought he would never see again. He gazed around the room, his heart heavy with nostalgia, when he heard a familiar voice.

"At last, you're awake, young master!" Pamela, his former nanny, exclaimed. Tears streamed down Onel's face as he realized that the affectionate old woman was really there in front of him.

"Is this a dream?" he asked, almost disbelievingly.

Pamela was taken aback by his sudden question. "What are you saying all of a sudden, young master?" she asked, confused.

"Are you really… in front of me again, Pamela?" Onel asked, his voice quivering.

Pamela smiled softly and cupped his cheeks. "Of course, young master. Who else would I be?" she said.

Onel's mind was spinning with questions. "What are you doing here?" he asked. "Didn't you leave the pack already? And how come we could see and talk to each other? I died. How about you? Are you… dead, too?"

Pamela's jaw dropped in surprise. She rushed to Onel side and held his forehead to check if he had a fever. When she realized he was in perfect condition, she smiled and said, "You must have had a bad dream, young master."

"A dream?" Onel repeated, still unsure. He pinched his wrist, and when he felt the pain, he knew he was really alive.

But what had happened? Wasn't he killed by the only man he had ever loved?

He could still feel Blue's claws in his chest. He still remembered the excruciating pain, every part of his body still remembered the torture he had suffered in their hands.

"Yes, young master," Pamela continued. "That was nothing but a dream. You are such a nice and sweet child. There is no way the moon goddess will let anything bad happen to you."

Onel gasped as he remembered the last words he had uttered before he died.

Did the moon goddess really answer his prayer? Did he really go back to the past? The questions kept haunting him, and he wondered if he would ever find the answers.

Pamela's voice rang out in the spacious room, breaking the comfortable silence. "I heard that there are already visitors in the hall lining up to meet you," she said, smiling encouragingly at the young master. "Tonight is your night," she continued, her tone filled with excitement. "All the alphas from all over the country have traveled so far to see you."

Onel couldn't help but grin at Pamela's infectious enthusiasm. She had been his nanny since he was a child and had always been supportive of him. "So, please quit daydreaming and take a bath now, young master," Pamela said, interrupting his thoughts. "I know you’re secretly dying to see Alpha Blue.

At the mention of Alpha Blue, Onel's smile vanished, replaced by a fiery rage that burned within him.

Pamela noticed the sudden change in his demeanor and asked, "Is something wrong, young master?"

Onel forced a smile. "Nothing, nanny. Don't worry about me. I'm just... really happy," he replied, his voice betraying his true emotions.

Pamela's eyes narrowed in suspicion. "Because of Alpha Blue?" she asked, her voice laced with concern.

"Let's just say he's the major reason why I feel happy today," Onel replied, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "You can go. I'll take a bath now."

As soon as Pamela left, Onel rose from his bed and walked over to the pictures of Blue that he had collected since he was a child. He looked at them for a moment before grabbing them off the wall and tearing them into tiny pieces. He tossed the pieces into the garbage bin, muttering to himself, "That's where both of you belong."

He then turned his attention to a framed picture of himself and Sabina. He tore the picture in half, letting out a bitter laugh. "My biggest mistake is trusting you, Sabina. But thanks to you, I've learned my lessons now," he said, throwing the picture into the bin.

Onel sank into the bathtub, trying to push his anger and resentment aside. He was the last surviving omega in the world, and many alphas desired him because only he could give them the perfect son to secure their packs. But he refused to be used like that anymore.

Suddenly, he heard the door open, and he knew who it was before Sabina even spoke. She was the only one who could come and go into his room with or without his permission. Onel gritted his teeth, trying to control his wolf's growls. He had always kept his ability to shift a secret, and only his parents knew about it.

"What is taking you so long? Alpha Blue is already downstairs!" Sabina said, kicking the door open. Onel didn't budge, keeping his eyes closed to enjoy his bubble bath.

"Why aren't you answering? Didn't you hear me?" Sabina asked, frustration creeping into her voice.

"What's wrong with waiting?" Onel replied nonchalantly. "Let him wait. If the other alphas could do it, why couldn't he?"

Sabina's jealousy was palpable, and Onel could sense it even without looking at her. He knew that he was going to make Blue pay for what he had done to him, and no one would be spared.

The moon goddess had given him a second chance, and he was going to serve his revenge on a sizzling platter.

Sabina stood frozen, her mind racing with a thousand questions. Onel had always been the quiet type, content to follow the alpha's lead and keep to himself. She had never seen him so assertive before, especially when it came to their alpha. But now, he was standing his ground, his eyes cold and distant.

She opened her mouth to speak, but no words came out. Onel's words echoed in her mind, and she could feel the weight of their meaning settling in her chest. He was serious. He was willing to turn his back on the alpha, the one he had always looked up to, for the sake of his own pride.

Sabina struggled to make sense of it all. How could Onel, who had always been so meek and mild, suddenly become so bold? And why was he so willing to risk everything, even their pack's stability, for a moment of pride?

As she tried to gather her thoughts, Onel opened his eyes and looked at her. Despite the tension in the air, he remained calm and collected, his gaze steady and unwavering.

"You heard me right," he said. "If he doesn't like waiting, the door is open. He can go or he can come back later. The choice is his."

Sabina's eyes widened in disbelief. She couldn't believe what she was hearing. Onel's her little brother, was challenging their alpha. And not just any alpha, but Blue, the leader of one of the strongest packs in the land.

"Did you hit your head somewhere?" Sabina asked, struggling to find the right words. "Have you forgotten who we are talking about here? He is our Alpha!"

"Whether I like it or not, it's impossible for me to forget that, Sabina. He may be the alpha, but he's the one who needs me right now."

Sabina shook her head in disbelief. She had never seen Onel act this way before. He was like a completely different person, a stranger she hardly recognized.

The Blood Moon pack, where Onel belonged, was one of the strongest packs in the land. They were a force to be reckoned with, feared by all who knew them. But they were also a small pack, with only half a thousand members. Blue had only been able to stabilize his position as the alpha by marrying Onel, an omega.

Wolves believed in superstitions, such as the idea that omegas were the weakest wolves, but they were also the creatures loved by the moon goddess the most. They believed that omegas were more beautiful than most wolves because they were born with the most blessings from the goddess, and because even males were given a chance to conceive and give birth. They believed that omegas could bring strength and harmony to a pack. And because of those believers, Blue had gained additional members. After two years of marriage, his pack had grown to over two thousand members.

"What the heck is wrong with you?!" Sabina asked, still in shock.

"I should be the one asking you that," Onel replied. "My parents and I loved you so much, Sabina."

"What?" Sabina asked, confused.

Onel sighed and looked away. "You know what you did," he said, his voice barely above a whisper.

“Did you just brush me off, Onel?”

“I believe I just did?”

"W-What?! You know, what? You don’t seem to be the Onel I knew!"

"Next time, don’t order me around. I will come out when I want to—Also, from now on, learn how to knock."

"Onel—"

"This is my room. And this is my house."

Their parents may have died, but they were two of the most respected warriors in all packs. They were even recognized by the alpha king.

When they died, according to the law, as the rightful heir, Onel inherited all the properties the alpha king bestowed upon his parents although he still allowed Sabina to live with him and even gave her some of his properties.

Onel was as rich as Alpha Blue although he took away all his properties when they got married. And Onel only found out the night he attempted to escape from Reid’s clutches.

“We may be wolves, but we still ought to have some manners at least. This is why humans mistake us as barbaric, sister.”

Onel's enjoying the way Sabina look at him— confused...

"Now, kindly leave."

Sabina's mouth opened wide, but there was no word that came out of it.

Onel closed his eyes and planned his next move as he continued his bath until he heard her leave. After he was done, he didn’t wear the clothes Pamela prepared. The servants looked at him, surprised, when he stepped out of his room.

And when Michael, the host of the event, announced Onel's presence in the hall, he walked in.

“And now, I present to you our beautiful omega who just turned eighteen today...Ladies and gentlemen, here comes Onel!”

The doors opened. Everyone was stunned when they saw him naked. The second he walked in; the moon became full. He smiled and shifted.
