Carrie

“So, what brings you here?”

My dad looked puzzled at my straightforwardness. He smiled awkwardly. “Do I need permission to see my only daughter?”

“Dad, let’s cut to the chase,” I stated, trying to act cool. “The last time we spoke, we had a terrible argument and exchanged hurtful words. You cannot blame me for asking the question knowing that we haven’t heard from each other since that incident.”

My heart tightened as I spout those words. I truly longed for my dad's presence, yet the difficult situation he placed me in was not easy to accept. The strain it caused made it challenging for me to comprehend his actions, leading to numerous miscommunications and misunderstandings between us.

Dad took a deep breath, understanding the weight behind my words. “Okay, I’ll get straight to the point.” He looked me dead in the eye and said, "I want you to come back to Blackmoon, Carrie. I want you to come home with me."

I took a step back, trying to wrap my head around what he was saying.
