Augustus Mansion

The dark clouds are hovering, the strong winds are blowing indicating the presence of upcoming storm. But this changing weather has no effect on the magnificent mansion of Augustus' standing proudly on hundred hectares in NewYork Suburbs.

The inside of Augustus Mansion is filled with blooming laughter of Alexandra Augustus as she is being tickled by her brother Adam Xavier Augustus.

The wafting smell of pancakes being cooked can be smelled from mile away. And as usual, Anahita is being irritated by Sebastian.

"Adam" Anahita shouted from kitchen.

"Yes Mum?" Asks Adam while entering the kitchen. He found his Dad hugging his Mum from back and nuzzling her neck, not letting her work in peace.

"I want your Dad out of the kitchen this instant." Anahita muttered while trying to get out from strong grip of her husband.

"I am not going anywhere." Sebastian said while lifting his head and glaring at his son. 

"Dad, come on. Let Mum cook in peace." Adam requested to his Dad. 

"Sebastian, just go away. Don't you have Michaelson to bark orders on?" A frustrated Anahita exclaims. 

"No, both him and I are on off today." Sebastian responded shrugging. 

"But Dad, today is an important meeting regarding Augustus Corporation's new venture into Space Aernautics & Mining." Adam reminded him. 

"You are heading it." Sebastian said while popping a grape from fruit basket. His one hand still around his wife's waist. 

"How can I handle this important meeting without any preparation?" A perplexed Adam asked. 

"You are going to be the CEO of Augustus Group, this is nothing in front of challenges you will be facing on everyday basis and you have all training you need to be prepared." Sebastian replied nonchalantly. 

Seeing Adam worried Anahita's heart melted and she elbowed Sebastian hard in his ribs, came out of his deathly grip and warmly hugged her son.

"I believe in you, Adam. You are hardworking and have the training for the job. I know you will nail it." She softly whispered in his ear.

"Don't baby him so much. At his age, I was ruling the world and I still am." Sebastian said smugly while groaning in between.

"Is anyone talking to you?" Anahita asks while turning a little and raising her brow at Sebastian.

When he did not responded she continued "No, then shut up." And turned to Adam.

"You might be ruling the world Dad but Mum is the boss of this house." Alexandra whispered softly to him.

"Not only this house but mine heart as well." Sebastian murmured while gazing loving at his Ana pampering his son.

Alexandra fake gagged in the background. 

Adam is on and on a Mama's boy. His Mum is the most important person in his life. Not that his Dad is not. The bond Adam and Sebastian share is more of like friends always taunting each other and fighting for Ana's attention.

While that of Ana and Adam is a strong bond of pure and unadultered mother-son bonding.

Even though Adam is not her son. Ana loves him much more than she has ever loved Alexandra. She considerds him as her first child.

"Okay okay, break it up." Said Sebastian while dragging Ana in his arms again. 

Ana groaned but secretly she loves all the attention her husband showers on her. There beginnings were rough but they overcame every hurdle together. 

Ana smiled softly while reminiscing the old days. Remembering the revenge and redemption of her husband. Not that he is not the same hot headed brute that he was before, his behaviour with their children is much different than with anyone else. Even much different than with Ana. 

She had never seen Sebastian shouting on their children. He does shout on her from time to time when things does not go his way but he has never shouted on Adam and Alexandra. He does taunt Adam but that is all light fun. 

Adam, her son is turning 26 in a week. And, man has he grown up to be ditto of Sebastian is an understatement. The looks and persona, the only thing he lacks is Sebastian's ruthlessness and she is very thankful for that. 

She hopes that he stays that way. She has seen glimpses of Sebastian's ruthlessness in her son sometimes but he has always been able to control it. He is the ideal son. 

She prayed internally for her son's happiness. 

"Mum, Jenifer will be staying for the night." Adam told her breaking her chain of thoughts.

"That's alright. By the way, where is she nowadays?" Anahita questioned. 

"In Milan for some fashion show." Adam responded. 

"Adam will also be going to Italy next week for his girlfriend's show." Alexandra butted in. 

"What about your work?" Sebastian sharply asked. 

Sebastian does not like Jenifer at all. Not that she has done anything to him or is not good for his son. She is decent girl but he just despises her.

Not that he has voiced his thoughts to Adam, if his son is happy then he is happy. Though, he has given his unrequired opinion to his wife who just ignored him muttering along the lines 'You despise Michaelson till day for marrying Samantha'. 

What is he suppose to do when just the presence of a mere person irritates the hell out of him? He questioned to himself. 

Adam's POV:

We are having breakfast. Mum has cooked delicious pancakes, bacon, stuffed mushrooms and omelette. 

I am blessed to have such an amazing family. I am planning on proposing Jenifer, she has been my girlfriend from last 3 years. Everyone likes her except Dad. Not that he has said anything to me but I has deduced this much from his behaviour. 

When I approached Mum about the same. She assured me saying he despise everyone other than family and that is true. 

He is loving and friendly only to family and every outsider is always subjected to his cold silence, hard glares and snarky comments. 

My train of thoughts was broken by my ringing phone. 

I glanced at the screen to find my assitant calling. He informed me of an emergency at office. The negotiation going on with Ceaser Industries in Italy for the Space Mining are hanged on due to some undisclosed reasons at the moment. Since, I am VP: Trade & Operations I will have to deal with it. 

Usually, there are no such problems faced by me as every company in the world wants to be associated with Augustus Group. 

"First finish your breakfast than go to your office." Mum ordered when I stand up to leave. 

"Mum, there is an emergency at office. I need to leave." I muttered slightly exasperated. 

"No, have breaksfast." She stubbornly responded. 

"Mum, I will have something at office. Now, I need to leave." With that I left for my wing to get ready for office. 

Office, Vice President

Trade & Operations, Augustus Group

"What's the problem?" I asked my assistant Nina as soon as I entered the office. 

"Sir, the Assitant Director, Administration, Ceaser Industries has some problems with the contracts we have send." Nina briefed me. 

"Why I am not talking with Mergers & Acquisitions department?" I questioned already on the edge of losing my temper. 

If my Mum sees me now, she will have a heart attack. When it comes to business dealings I am ruthless like my Dad. 

"Get me everything that you can find on him." I muttered harshly. 

"Its her, Rosalina Faye Carter."  Nina whispered. 

"Then on her." I snapped at her. I hate when somebody interrupts me. 

I started working on the pending files on my desk. Half an hour later a knock disturbed me and it was my assitant holding a file.

She approached the desk and quietly placed the file on the table. I picked it up and quickly browse through it. 

Rosalina Faye Carter: Assistant Director, Administration, Ceaser Industries- Detailed Information

Age-25, Born in Toronto, Canada. 

Qualifications: Summa cum laude, Business Administration, Harvard University. 

Residence: 124 A, Isagolano Towers, Centro Strotico, Milan, Italy. 

Ethinicity: Father-Canadian, Mother- Spanish. 

Relationship Status: Single, Unmarried. 

Siblings: Sister- Linda Nicolas Carter. 

The woman must be highly skilled to have reached at such a high position that early in career thought Adam. 

I look forward to have a conversation with her and find out what the heck her problem with contract is? 

I took out a copy of contract and started going through it. All the negotiations terms seemed highly reasonable to me. And it is drafted with high precision and details by the most prolific lawyers of Augustus Corporation. 

The loopholes are way too complicated to be understand by an administrator. If it is not about loopholes than what the hell is it about? He thought to himself while running a hand through his goregous hair. 

He did not know at this time that his whole life will turn upside down just because of his one mistake.
