Chapter 7: Chapter Seven: The Demon's Spawn

Author: Tutujiang
Jeff Boswell voluntarily requested to drop the charges, which greatly surprised Edison Duncan.

"Great Demon King, when did you learn to show mercy?"

He seemed a bit regretful, "To be honest, I was prepared to send that kid to jail for ten or eight years. Who made her upset our Great Demon King?"

Jeff Boswell remained silent, sitting on the sofa and expressing his displeasure with a glare.

Edison Duncan asked again, "Really dropping it?"

Jeff Boswell: "Drop! If not, that person's sister will, will—"

"What will happen?"

A relaxed yet magnetic voice came from the stairs.

Ferguson Kennedy, dressed in a set of off-white loungewear, walked down slowly, one hand holding a cup of coffee, the other tucked into his pocket.

The straight-legged cotton pants were long, piling up over his white sheepskin shoes and gracefully shaped feet, making every step look as if he were walking on clouds.

Truly an immortal descended from heaven.

Edison Duncan secretly cursed, thinking him two-faced, truly a demon.

Seeing him, Jeff Boswell's anger instantly dissipated, and he lowered his head, sulking.

The room was well-heated, so everyone was wearing light clothing. Jeff Boswell, more dramatically, had stripped down to a half-sleeve shirt. Ferguson Kennedy's keen eyes noticed the bruise on the boy's arm that wasn't covered by the sleeve.

He put down the porcelain cup and pulled up Jeff Boswell's left sleeve to his shoulder.

"U-Uncle..."

"Who did this?" Ferguson Kennedy frowned.

Edison Duncan leaned in, "Wow! That's some serious damage! It'll take at least ten days to heal!"

Ferguson Kennedy asked, "Another fight?"

In the Han family, Jeff Boswell feared no one but this uncle. Though he appeared gentle and harmless, there was a genuine air of nobility and pride about him, and Jeff Boswell was afraid.

Unable to meet those light brown, almond-shaped eyes for too long, Jeff Boswell lowered his gaze. "No."

Knowing Ferguson Kennedy didn't have much patience, Jeff Boswell quickly recounted what had happened at school today.

Finally, he said angrily, "She deliberately chose an alley without any surveillance! No evidence left behind! So cunning!"

Edison Duncan was the first to comment, "I never would have guessed! The day at the police station, she looked so quiet and weak, like a little deer. Turns out, she's a wolf in sheep's clothing!"

Jeff Boswell snorted.

Edison Duncan, always one to enjoy a good spectacle, turned to Ferguson Kennedy, "Say something, will you? Your nephew is being bullied for no reason, can we just let this go?"

Leaning casually in a beige leather single-seat sofa, the man tossed his phone up and down between his long fingers.

Hearing this, he said, "No cause, no effect. Let's end it here."

Edison Duncan: "!!!"

Jeff Boswell: "..."

Both of them stared at him.

Ferguson Kennedy raised an eyebrow, "Did I not make myself clear, or do you have trouble understanding? Need me to repeat it?"

Jeff Boswell mumbled, "Understood."

Edison Duncan seemed to realize something, smiling mysteriously.

Ferguson Kennedy ignored him.

He instructed Jeff Boswell, "Stay out of trouble, don't cause any more problems."

The boy pursed his lips, nodding reluctantly.

After sending the two away, Ferguson Kennedy opened his phone.

Three days.

No messages, no calls.

Quite patient.

At 10 PM, Ferguson Kennedy called the property management.

"There's a leak in the bathroom, send someone to check it out."

"I want Chen Mu Xi."

The three million Chen Mu Xi gave was only enough to keep the debt collectors at bay for two days. This morning, the texts and calls started coming in again.

Sitting at her desk, she watched the flashing screen of her phone, her black and white eyes calm as the sea before a storm.

"Mu Xi, the security guard says someone is looking for you at the gate," Hilary Zacharias hung up the landline and stretched her neck to say.

Chen Mu Xi frowned, putting on her coat.

Hilary Zacharias seemed hesitant, and when Chen Mu Xi passed by, she whispered, "The guard said they don't look like good people, kind of shady. Are you in trouble?"

Chen Mu Xi's heart tightened, but she kept her composure, "No, maybe they got the wrong person. I'll go see."

Hilary Zacharias nodded hesitantly.

The wind on this snowy winter night was fierce, howling and biting at the skin.

With the bright lights of the security booth, Chen Mu Xi could see the two men, one tall and one short, smoking under the streetlight before she even approached.

Security at Lin Quan No. 1 was strict; even relatives of residents had to call and confirm with the owner before being allowed in. For those looking for employees, they weren't allowed into the compound and usually waited inside the security booth.

But perhaps due to their appearance, they weren't even allowed in the booth and had to stand outside in the cold.

Chen Mu Xi greeted the guard and went out through the gate.

"Miss Chen, it's been hard to find you! You don't answer calls or texts! We had no choice but to come here," the man with gold teeth managed to maintain a boss-like demeanor, speaking less aggressively.

The shorter man, however, was fuming from the cold, pointing at Chen Mu Xi, "Working in a place like this and saying you have no money? No one believes that! We're still owed ten thousand this month. If you don't pay today, starting tomorrow, I'll be here every day! I have nothing to lose, let's see if you'll pay then!"

His shouting had already drawn the attention of the guards and passing vehicles, and he smirked triumphantly.

Chen Mu Xi, half her face buried in the high collar of her down jacket, focused her black, calm eyes.

"You kidnapped my mother and now you want to extort money from me. Do you really think I'm easy to bully?"

Edison Duncan suggested adding "Mrs. Han" to the online name of her studio, assuring her that clients would come flooding in by tonight.Doreen Pulitzer rolled her eyes at him, "So you think I can't do anything without relying on Ferguson Kennedy, is that it?""Isn't it foolish not to use the resources your husband provides?" Edison Duncan retorted.Doreen Pulitzer didn't say a word. That evening, when they returned to J Mountain, Ferguson Kennedy handed her a folder as she pushed open the door to the study."Jiyue Group is relocating, and the new building has been completed. However, oddly enough, this news was only briefly reported in the online social news sections. The H City authorities and the No. 1 Courtyard issued statements, stating that it was merely an accident.Journalists, unable to act freely on J Mountain, stationed themselves at the entrance of the No. 1 Courtyard, hoping to dig up some inside information from Brian Kennedy or other members of the Han family. Doreen Pulitzer came out of the sanatorium and asked the driver to drive down the mountain. But in a blink of an eye, the villa was left behind.Doreen Pulitzer's mood was complex. She leaned back in her seat, her elbow resting on the window, her hand supporting her chin. From last night until now, the amount of information she had received was overwhelming. Her mother-in-law had passed away early, and Ferguson Kennedy's background was tragic—these were just rumors before, and she didn't know the details. But hearing it from the person involved, the sense of desolation in fate overwhelmed her like a tidal wave. Moreover, none of this was an accident but rather the result of human actions.Doreen Pulitzer gazed at the blurry window without focusing, her heart suddenly aching. If possible, she real
