Veronica's POV

“Tell me one good reason why you're alone in this chamber with my wife,” Sebastian barged within a fraction of a second after hearing Nolan answer him.

I knew it was coming. I didn't even have time to react.

And perhaps Nolan fell from his crib when he was a child because he goads his short-tempered, violent brother more.

“Clearly because I want to steal my dear brother’s queen—” his laugh didn't finish when he started choking on air.

Sebastian’s hand grip around his neck tightly, claws elongated. That would definitely leave a mark.

I grimaced but remained on my feet. Saying anything or trying to defend Nolan would just be worse and besides, it was his fault.

Now alarmed, he raised his hands in the air with a pained smile, “Can't I joke around, Sebastian? It's like you don't know me at all!” He managed to yell with a lot of struggle.

    Thank you for reading! I am very, very grateful for the people who reached here. This has been a long journey and also my first novel. It means a lot that you gave this story a chance and stayed until the end. Truly, I appreciate it. If I could track the comments, I would personally thank each and everyone for the support. In all honesty, there are things I regret and wish to have done better during the entire writing process. I do feel guilty about leaving this hanging for a while and what I have lacked in some aspects—I apologize for that. I faced some unexpected hurdles along the way and went through a very tough writer’s block and challenge of picking this up. For what it’s worth, I tried.
