'Liam was only hospitalized for three days. How did he spend so much?'

Sylvia's voice on the other end of the line sounded somewhat contemptuous. "Why can't he spend one hundred thousand dollars? My Liam hurt the family jew..."

Mid-sentence, she seemed to find the subject embarrassing, so she coughed and changed the subject. "Anyway, Liam was badly hurt."

Suddenly, Sylvia's voice cut off. "How did you know Liam was hospitalized for three days?"

Her son was so badly injured in a fight that he almost had his family jewels removed. She did not even tell her brother Shawn about it. Sally had not even answered her phone these days, and this was the first time she had spoken to Sally about Liam's hospitalization.

'How does Sally know that Liam had been hospitalized for three days?'

"Do you know anything about Liam getting beaten up?"

Sylvia's voice went up an octave. "Could it be that you had something to do with him getting beaten up?"

Sally panicked. "No, no."
