RONAN
"Alistair we can't do this to him, he is an Omega, that school will eat him alive." My mom her voice cracks with fear as though she has given up, I see her throat working up and down as she tries to say something. I hated that word "Omega" it was like a stain that never leaves my skin. " He is better broken than weak," he tells her, I hear his boot as he stomps around his office, I clench my fist in anger, wanting to scream. I shouldn't be eavesdropping but curiosity beats the fear of my father in me. As I hear my father's final statement I know there's no going back from this, tears tighten my throat, and I find it hard to breathe. "He's a Nightshade, he comes from a long line of Alphas, he'll train where Alphas train" My lungs freeze as I hear Alphas, the academy for someone like me? I slowly back away from the office. my mother wails in the next room following my father around. I hear his footsteps and I know he's moving I quickly run in to my room, while holding my breath. " I can handle this," I think as sit quietly on my bed as my breath becomes short and shaky. he barges into my room with his hand curled into fists as he shouts with his teeth grinding. He always blames me for being an omega " Get your things in order your moving to the alpha academy today, where you will carry on my name as an Alpha." He yells into my face, and starts pacing in that annoying way he does it,like I'm one of his soldiers, I want to speak but the words get stuck in my throat. He turns, walks to my mother and gets in my mother's face with his face flushed red with anger. " I asked you for just one thing a male alpha or even a female Alpha at this point and you couldn't give it, all you could give me was this," He says with his hand pointed toward me "get him ready we leave in 30 minutes." My mother rushes to my side and hugs me trying to hold her sobs in. I was just a disappointment to them,as it became hard to breathe. "Ronan, honey we are going to do what he asks us to do right baby?" she says as her voice hitches as her hand trembles while she fixes my hair. I stay still, staring past her into the space behind her, she's scared but she still obeys him,and that hurts more than his shouting at me . " Listen, Don't let them know what you are," she says in a low voice. As she brings out a pack of the new level advance Omega suppressant patches. I look at them small, harmless easy to attach to the skin but they feel heavier than anything I've ever carried in my life. The sight of them makes me nauseous. "Let's get you ready." She says in a voice that sounds like goodbye. As we both pull out boxes and pack most of my stuff clothes, uniforms, non of my colour filled socks or silk pillowcases. The sound of every closed box clicked like my life was slipping out of my hands. Everything in dull and dark colours, even changing the colour of my hair from blonde to dark brown. I don't look like me anymore, I look lifeless. She looks at me again while saying. " I added some makeup in your skin tone in a old pack use that to cover your suppressant when it's on your skin, so it's less noticeable and more dye for your hair." " Yes, mom." I reply in a low voice, that seem strange and unknown to my ears. ++++++++++++++++++++ As snow covers the driveways servants struggle to move it, the driver gets into the seat and guards open the door. And he comes out from the house. Alpha Alistair Nightshade with his posture perfect and his emotions absent the premium alpha. I adjust my collar, the suppressant a faint burn under my skin. A reminder that my body is not mine anymore. He comes down and stands beside me. For a moment, the silence stretches as he is about to get what he wants an alpha son. " Ronan, make me proud." He says with a finality, as if pride is the only emotion he is capable of feeling. I let out a short breath that makes me laugh. "You never said make me happy, father." I quip back at him. " Those two things are not the same thing." he retorts as his eyes flicker towards me cold and unflinching. I nod and walk away, in an attempt to get a hold of myself. the guard opens the cars doors we both slid in,silence fills the air like an invisible wall. The car pulls out of the driveway as we drive to meet my doom. The car stops before an iron gate taller than anything I've ever seen, I see the academy after the gates dark and gloomy, the Academy name welded in between the gate ELDENRIDGE ACADEMY in black and gold. The place were monsters I mean Alphas are taught to lead. As my father pats me on the back, firm and strong. " As I said Ronan make sure you're not caught, and for whatever reason you need get in touch with me go to the Dean's office and get in contact with me." He rumbles out in a deep voice shows his authority. As I grab my boxes, the cold air biting through my coat and into my skin. Pulling them to the administration centre, I pass my alpha card forged by my father. The man scans the card, and inputs my details in. Alpha Ronan Nightshade Age: 22 Scent mark: the scent of scandalwood and storms. Status: unclaimed " Welcome to ELDENRIDGE ACADEMY," he says it like a threat . He exchanges my Alpha card for the school identification card. As he hands me my card he comes closer to me and says. " you are in Captain Vale's unit, let's see if a pretty boy like you will survive it." He hisses at me with a leering and hungry look. His eyes drag over me in a hungry way that makes my skin crawl. " Maybe he'll teach me how to not be a pretty alpha then." I retort back forcing a dry smile. I collect my card and walk to the training ground, where new intakes are before he can reply. I see the Vale flag flown freely with a big V on it and walk towards it as the air is alive, and smells like blood and sweat. And at the centre stood him. Kieran Vale. the golden alpha, every Omega's dream alpha and the academy's crown and curse. As Kieran turns our eyes meet. And the world stops for a split second. For a split second I forget how to breathe, my skin itched as the suppressant burns under it. " You're late, Cadet" He rumbles out in a deep voice that pours down my skin like silk. " I wasn't sure where I was supposed to go, the whole school looked like it was meant to eat you alive." I retort keeping my voice cool. Kieran's gaze flicker to arms as he sniffed the air, just for a split second, and something flickers behind his eyes. And then he smirks. " Maybe it wants to." As I turned my back to leave, but his voice cuts through the noise. " Newbie," I stop not looking back. " Yes, Captain?" "Tomorrow morning," He states pausing for everyone to listen " training starts at dawn." " And if I'm late," I reply and turn around slowly. His lips curve, but it's not a smile, it's something even darker. " Then you won't make it to noon," he declares as the whole training ground becomes silent, even the air feels tight. I let a faint smile tug at my mouth. " Guess we'll see who survives breakfast then." His Alpha grin fades just slightly as for a raw moment,I see something primal flare up in his gaze, hunger or recognition. It's something neither of us wants at this moment.RHEAThe morning after the festival tastes sour in my mouth.I wake up furious after all the failed attempts at bonding or building something with Kieran.Suitcases are lined up outside the corridor of our rooms , dragging trunks and garment bags towards the academy transports. The winter Solstice Festival is over. Lanterns are being taken down. What had felt magical only hours ago now looks cheap and empty in the daylight.Outside one of the rooms I hear.“....did you see Ronan step in?”“Kieran didn't even argue.”“That ritual was supposed to happen either way.”“Yeah, well it did, right but with the wrong bride or groom I should say.”My hands clench into fists.I move back to my room, moving through my morning routine with care, my hair brushed smooth, makeup precise, uniform well pressed.Every move is deliberate, but my hands keep shaking, shaking as I fasten my buttons on the blazer. I have to stop and breathe, fingers pressed on my chest until the tremor subsides.“Get it toget
Ronan I felt it the moment the cornfield settled, as I ran out of the cornfield after the creepy look Rhea gave me, so I saw the hum of excitement still buzzing, students laughing, some kissing , music filling the air, saturated with instincts. Drawing a slow deep breath through my nose, too many scents layered badly. Fear disguised as fun, Excitement that is moving closer to aggression. Kieran stands near the altar where the offering to the moon goddess is situated, looking professional and untouched, and trained for Alpha leadership, his eyes are hazy. His wolf is too close to the surface, even I could tell and feel it, like a restless pull tugging at my ribs. And I see Rhea in my peripheral vision, she crossed the open space with a deliberate calm, pale festival moon light catching in her hair, her expression composed enough to fool anyone who wasn't paying attention, the metallic stench of blood flowing from her. Students parted instinctively as she passed, attention
RHEAThe cornfield maze closes as I walk back. He knows, fuckkk he knows.Well, that doesn't matter, I have the ring I'm betrothed to him, and nothing can change that. I feel it before I hear it, as the harvest moon starts shining for the night, the big red moon hanging above the maze, looking as if the sky has been cut open.Ronan stands in front of me, not Kieran.I remember the realization landed hard, sharp enough to steal my breath, my stomach twists, nausea turning in my throat.“No.” I whispered. “No, that's not…”This isn't how it goes. The harvest moonlight intensifies all emotion. The corn whispers as if it's alive.Something wakes in me desperate, feral, and wrong.I clamp a hand over my mouth as something fills me.This isn't fear. Fear feels clean, and fear makes sense. This is envy. It's like acid poured straight into my veins, my skin prickles, my mating glands ache. Every breath feels shallow and unsatisfying, like my lungs refusing to work with me. “Why does it hu
RonanI wake up choking, as if someone held my lungs and just decided to let go, my body jerks against the bed, muscles tensing in sharp and ugly pulls.“Easy, easy,” a voice says close. Hands grip my shoulders, firm, grounding. “You're safe. Don’t move.”I smell Kieran's scent all over me before looking up and seeing Ethan. The world comes back into focus in broken pieces. Rough wool blankets scraping my skin, the sting of antiseptic, the low hum of heaters vibrating through the floor. Light filters through the glass. My shoulders burn, not a surface pain, but deep, aching, like something unsettled beneath the skin. The bite aches, and I swallow hard.“I..” My throat feels shredded. “What.”“You fainted,” Ethan says quickly, like he's afraid I'll disappear again if he pauses. “ During the procession. You just went down.”Images rush back in fragments, the crowd, Kieran's face too close, filled with alarm.Shame hits me harder than the pain.“I collapsed," I murmur.Ethan doesn't de
Kieran It's time for the procession, but it needs to be led by two people true to each other. As we all pick a red rope, which signifies the true bond. And we stand at a circle around a burning flame, heat washes over us in a sudden wave, the rope in my hand vibrates, my wolf surges inside me, across the circle Ronan stiffens.I feel the connection between us, like someone hooked a finger in my spine and pulled, not pain or fear.Something calm and beautiful.Ronan's hands grab his shoulders, his breath stutters visibly as he sucks in air, like he's bracing against something only he can feel.My grip tightens on the rope as I struggle between my need to help him and the need to stay at my position and continue the ritual.“Wait…” I start, then stop as Ethan rushes forward.Rhea shifts beside me.Her fingers clench convulsively abound her rope, knuckles white from holding the rope, she sways just slightly then steadies herself with a breath coming out too fast.“Kieran,” she murmurs,
RonanI look down, and I'm standing at the edge of the frozen lake attraction, decorative light wards glow beneath the ice, illuminating cracks spiderwebbing very close to my boots. The ice is too thin, I'm one misstep from falling into the cold ice water.“Easy,” a low growly voice murmurs near my ear, too low and too close to place. “ You don't want to fall now.”By the time I stagger back onto solid ground, the voice that guided me there is gone, dissolved into the crowd like it was never real.I press my palm to my chest and force my breathing to slow. The festival has started, but I don't feel interested, I feel like I'm standing behind glass.I don't feel safe, I think I'm being hunted.“Ronan!” Dax's voice cuts through all the noise, I turn and spot him and Finn near a food stall shaped like a cabin, both of them bundled in coats and impatience. I feel a great amount of relief as i move towards them.Finn studies my face the second I'm close enough. “You look like you had a dea
