41. Piano Lessons

I came awake slowly, stretching my hands behind to look for Gwaine. My heart sunk when I realized his side of the bed was empty. My heart felt heavy, I could almost taste the budding sadness in it. It was a few hours before daybreak so I wondered where he had vanished to. I reached over to the bed post and turned on the lamp beside me. I pulled the duvet away and stood up, walking towards the bathroom.

I turned on the light and walked in, noting that Gwaine wasn’t here either. My reflection in the mirror caught my eye so I walked closer, examining my naked body. There were a few hickeys and random scratches on my skin, each one bore testimony to the night we had had. Lightly running my finger over one of the now visible scars on my neck, I remembered how it had come to be. I closed my eyes as I conjured the image of him digging his teeth lightly into my flesh.

My hand roamed further and arrived at another sore spot, this time a rather long gash along my ribcage. The scar still hurt
