Gwaine’s POV:I leaned on my arm as I watched Catherine sleep. She was spread lazily on the bed and the morning sunlight fell just so, illuminating every inch of her body. It made everything more beautiful and that made me feel a pang a warmth, an affection which I couldn't explain. The sheets shifted a bit, exposing the now visible buldge on her stomach. She was only a few weeks pregnant but she was already twice her size. Her belly was distended slightly, giving her a big bump that looked like she was more advanced than she actually was. I leaned in and trailed a finger on her stomach, it felt harder than I expected. There was a sudden movement in her stomach and I could swear I felt the baby kick. A now familiar warmth creeped into my heart as I smiled. I ran a finger on her stomach again, I needed to make sure I didn’t just imagine the movement. The baby kicked again and I almost erupted out of excitement. It was real. And this time it was a strong kick. I chuckled quietly as
I ran as fast as I could, panting audibly. I looked around, noticing how everything looked a lot bigger. The trees were so tall and I was closer to the ground.I looked at where my feet were supposed to be and I saw a pair of tiny paws. I didn’t stop running even with my confusion. I had no idea why I was running and as if to answer my question, I heard a loud growl that seemed to come from behind me. Immediately, I realized I was running for my life. I put one tiny paw in front of the other, running as fast as this little body could go. My heart was racing in my chest as fear overwhelmed me. I could tell that whatever was chasing me was starting to get close and I panicked, wondering where Gwaine was. I wished with all my heart that he would swoop in and save me, like he always does. ‘Please, faster. Run faster so you save the both of us.’ I pleaded with my wolf, urging her to move faster for the sake of both our lives. We got to a cave and decided to hide there. It wasn’t a perfe
Gwaine’s POV:I stretched my hand towards the bed stand and picked my phone. I sent a quick text to Rachael, ‘Come over, now! Bring sedatives.’ It read. Catherine struggled to get her clothes on and I stood up from the bed and headed in her direction. She spilled hurtful words in anger, somehow managing to blame me for everything, including the things that were beyond my control. She was somehow convinced that if I had just let her be, things would’ve turned out differently.“If I hadn’t taken you, you would’ve been dead because the attack would’ve happened anyway!” I said, already getting frustrated because Catherine was hell bent on misunderstanding my intentions. Yes, I had taken her away from her home and everything she knew but that was my own way of saving her from Gabriel who already has a bad reputation when it comes to young women.“Being dead is clearly better than living in a world without my mother!” She replied almost immediately and I felt my chest tighten. “You were g
I woke up with a banging headache. I tried to move but I was too heavy to lift myself. I sighed, using my hands to pull myself up into a sitting position. I didn’t immediately remember what had happened but when I did, the memories came crashing down all at once. I had been sedated, by Rachael and Gwaine had readily offered his help. A part of me was convinced it was all his idea. I thought about the fight we had before I blacked out, Gwaine seemed so sure that my mother was still alive somehow. Thinking about it now, I realized that meant I could still find her. I could go into the human world and get all the necessary information needed to locate her. Fitting in wouldn’t be a problem for me as I had almost nothing to show that I’m a werewolf. The thought of going into unfamiliar territory scared me but it was something that needed to be done. My mother was all I had left in this world and I couldn’t just sit and let her suffer in some human prison. Gwaine had said he had men work
The days that followed were calm and mostly uneventful. Jason has been helpful so far and I was grateful. He had no reason to help me but he did anyway.I stretched on the bed before sitting upright, my right hand placed under the bulge of my stomach. I was overwhelmed by nausea so I laid back down for a bit. It was morning already and I barely slept the previous night. The baby seemed restless; constantly moving about in my stomach and making it impossible to sleep. The restlessness had subsided a few hours before daybreak but when I tried to rest my eyes, sleep eluded me. Like every other morning, I was nauseous. The pregnancy was starting to weigh on me more than I realized. There were times during those months when I felt like my body just stopped functioning. Sometimes there would be dizziness or pain and it took an entire day for my brain to catch up. Other times I'd get headaches with migraines and sometimes my vision will become blurry.I rolled off the bed, still feeling sl
Gwaine’s POVI sat in front of my desk, there were several empty bottles of whiskey on the table. I took one big gulp of the content of my glass and then poured myself another. The office was a mess. My papers were scattered across the desk and on the floor. A half full ashtray was at my elbow with a few butts from the recently lit cigarette that was still sitting in it. In the corner, next to my printer.Catherine had run away with my baby and no one seemed to know how to find her. She had disappeared in broad daylight, right under my nose. I realized she was missing a little too late, giving her too much of a head start. The entire pack had combed the woods, but there was no sign of Catherine. It’s been a whole week since she left, I’ve drowned myself in alcohol since she then, unable to get anything done. My office was a mess and I constantly reeked of alcohol. I wondered if she had successfully made it across the border and how she was currently doing. It didn’t seem possible f
I woke up with a weird feeling, like I was being watched. I sat up on the bed and looked around, but nobody seemed to be in the room. No one except me. The room was dark, except for a sliver of light coming from under the door of my bedroom. It was enough of a glow that if it hadn't been there, I wouldn’t have been able to see my hand as I reached forward to turn on the lamp. When I did, however, that faint yellowing light illuminated the room even more, I had to shield my eyes momentarily. “Jason, is that you?” I called out but there was no response. I looked around the room and although most part of the room wasn’t illuminated, I was almost certain that there was no one else here. I wondered if it was my mind playing tricks on me as I turned off the light and turned to go beck to sleep. I slept on my side as I was heavily pregnant now and can’t really get comfortable lying on my back because of all of the weight I’m packing on.The sound of approaching footsteps woke me up again
I opened my eyes slowly, inhaling the now familiar stench that surrounded me. The room was dark and when I looked at the window, I noticed it had been sealed shut. I didn’t need anyone to tell me it was on Dianne’s orders. She’d go to any length to make sure I was uncomfortable. My waist hurt from sitting for so long and the chains strapped to my wrist were starting to hurt. I blew the hair out of my face, wishing I could make use of my hands just once. But there was no way to do anything about them and all I could do was try to get used to being like this since I had no idea when or if I’d ever be free again.Dianne had always had a hard time keeping her temper with me. My constant teasing made her more aggressive than she usually would be and as soon as she became angry, she went off like a bomb.I could hardly resist the urge to taunt her and she made it real easy as she got offended at the slightest provocation. It was fun watching her turn as red as her hair. I looked down at
