Gwaine’s POV:
From the moment Vilkus took an interest in her, I knew that I had to get far away from her else there would be trouble, but she just happened to cause a scene at the feast and awake the beast within me once more.Being Alpha King was such a great role in the eyes of many. Until they realized that it came with a beast that was in as much control as one’s human side was. But it might be worse for me, since my beast actually had the greater control of my mind than my human side did.The only perk, might be the fact that I at least got to be in my human body and interact in human form. Goddess knew how much trouble Vilkus could cause if his form was allowed to roam out more often.I watched as Catherine’s head hung from the side as she slept, unaware of my presence. She was really cute and I loved how fiery she could get, but I wasn’t sure that attitude sat well with my wolf.Vilkus loved his women submissive, fiery, feisty, he just didn’t do well with neither of those things and he could do extreme things when it came to bending them. I didn’t want the same fate for Cat and so I knew that it would be a huge fight between my wolf and myself trying to protect her from him, but it wasn’t the first time. One thing I was sure off, was that I wasn’t letting him chase this one away.‘And how are you supposed to stop me Gwaine?’ He pushed through my mind, but I ignored him as always. My eyes now trained on Catherine that was starting to wake up.Seeing that she was starting to get active again, Vilkus began pushing through, fighting to take a more dominant front in my mind, but I didn’t come here to indulge my wolf’s twisted games. And so after giving a warning, I exited the room, trudging towards my office even when everything in me was fighting to go back down and torture the girl that my dungeons held till she cowered in submission.‘You can have your fun later Vilkus, we have a meeting right now and I’m not postponing it just so you can entertain yourself for a couple of minutes.’ I told my wolf, panting from the efforts that it took to stay in control.Slowly but surely, I felt my wolf retreat to the back of mind, allowing me breathe easier and assume full control of my mind.“Are you okay?” Regan, my Beta asked very cautiously.I couldn’t blame him, Vilkus wasn’t the easiest to deal with when he was in control and he had a habit of lashing out at the wrong times, making it difficult for people to approach me in general or try to hold conversations with me.“Yeah, yeah, I’m fine. Are the guys ready?” I asked, forcing a smile onto my face for the sake of my Beta and when he returned it with an even wider smile, it made me chuckle.“Of course, we’ve been waiting for you.” I gave a small nod of my head and then pulled open my office door to reveal the meeting table already filled with pack officials.“I apologize for the delay. Let’s begin please. I need an update on the border patrol unit. Heard there’s been some disturbances lately.” I went straight to the point immediately I was settled in my seat.“Yes, few humans keep trying to poke around the borders and try to get into the pack even with the restriction sign and us closing the main entrance roads.” Micah one of the officials delivered. And at the mention of humans, Vilkus let out a small growl that I couldn’t help but project. It was safe to say that he wasn’t fond of the beings at all, it wasn’t like I was either. They were too nosy and were more troubles than they were actually worth but we had rules and guidelines that help us cohabitate with them. I couldn’t figure out why they kept failing to keep to their end of the deal.“Tighten security on the borders. Any of them that tries to come through even with the restrictions put in place, capture and bring them back here. A little lesson should help send a message.” I said, letting my wolf slip through. After I received the confirmation for that, we went ahead to discuss various other things. The meeting lasted a while and I was glad when it pulled to a close. The rest of the officials filed out of the room but Regan remained as per usual.“How was the feast yesterday? Sorry I couldn’t come along with you, I just really didn’t feel well. Anything eventful happen?”He asked but I only shook my head negative while my attention remained on the piece of paper in front of me that I was trying to read through.“Nothing eventful happened? Vilkus didn’t find a woman toy to play with in the meantime?” Regan asked with humor in his words but for some reason his words made me stiffen.“The feast was fine, I think there are plenty of mistresses already at my wolf’s and I disposals and I also think it’ll be best if we drop this topic. It’s been a long day and I’ll be retiring to bed now.” I said, shutting the file and pushing it aside before standing up from my chair and heading towards the door.I had no idea why I wanted to lie about Catherine. It wasn’t as if Regan wasn’t used to long list of mistresses or my love for beautiful women. His question wasn’t anything weird or unexpected but for some reason it made me really angry.“Okay man, geez, you don’t have to be so hostile about it. I’ll head home now, Goodnight.”If I were still in full control of my mind, then maybe I would have felt a pinch of remorse for my attitude towards my Beta but with Vilkus having slipped to the front of my mind the moment Catherine had been mentioned, I couldn’t boast of such a thing.Sighing heavily, I made my way to my room, stripping off my clothes before quickly changing them. I had half a mind to take a bath but I knew that I wanted to visit the dungeons and those sort of visits never ended with me coming out clean. And so just changing into some comfortable clothing, I made my way into the bathroom to splash some water on my face. The moment I caught sight of my reflection in the mirror, a tiny shiver found a way through my spine. The set of dark eyes that stared back at me in the mirror wasn’t anything I wasn’t used to, it meant that Vilkus was just in front of my mind, but I missed my own brown eyes that I barely ever got to see.The sound of footsteps pierced through my slumber and jerked me back to consciousness. Of course I was met with darkness for the umpteenth time and I wanted to scream out in frustration. What was the Alpha’s plan? Keep me locked up in the darkness until I surrendered and begged him for his dick? Because that was never happening so he might as well let me go now so the treatment to his ego could commence before the hurt got any worse. The door was gently pushed open and I frowned when I recognized the Alpha’s scent begin to fill the room. He had such a unique scent that it sometimes burned my nose. I wasn’t sure how long I had been sleeping for because every time I opened my eyes, everything felt, looked and sounded the same and time really did slip past when one couldn’t get a hold on it. “Are you ready to be my mistress Catherine?” The Alpha’s silky voice sounded in the room and although it was as pleasant as the first time I had heard it, it did nothing but thoroughly irritate
The next time I gained consciousness, the space around me felt very different. Although my body still burned as badly as I remembered before I blacked out. I finally realized why it all felt different when I could feel a cold surface beneath me, one that felt like pure bliss against my burning back. There was someone else in the room, but they weren’t hurting me. Instead, it felt like they were helping me. I could feel a cloth pressed on top my head and although the water was too cold, I felt too weak to try to protest. I only shivered in effect. I tried to force my eyes open but the pain in my head stopped me from completely trying to open it. Instead I hissed weakly, trying to warn whoever was messing with me to back up but it wasn’t working as well as I had hoped for because they only continued to do it. “Stupid girl, can’t get her mouth to shut up.” I finally heard someone whisper and I recognized the voice immediately. This was the mean girl from the first time that I had co
Gwaine’s POV: My eyes flipped open and I was met with complete darkness but it wasn’t anything I didn’t expect. I was used to turning off all my lights before going to bed, so the darkness wasn’t anything new or weird, but something felt weird. I squinted in the darkness, my super human vision allowed me to be able to see every detail in the room, in black and grey because of the darkness in the room, but it felt like I was missing something, like I still had to see something that was lurking in the darkness. I perked my ears, hoping to hear something out of the ordinary, something different but everything was really still. Then what had woken me up from the almost peaceful sleep I had been having? I was sure there was something in the darkness that had troubled my sleep, I could even feel the presence somewhere around the room. Sitting up in bed, I squinted when I noticed something else. Everything was too quiet, but not only around my environment, even my mind was way too quie
I couldn’t even explain how much I missed looking at a clock and being able to keep track of time, but being locked up in this room not only took that luxury from me, now time felt more like a concept and less of a reality. I knew that the rude maid girl had come to me at some point, cleaned and changed my clothes, given me some pills and food, I could remember all of that but I wasn’t sure how long ago it had happened. I had slept, woken up, drank some more water, cussed the stupid Alpha out loud before sleeping some more again. The isolation that I had been subjected to in the last couple of days locked up in this dungeon, was starting to slowly drive me crazy. I wasn’t accustomed to not seeing the sunlight at the very least, the walls were starting to close in on me and every time I gained consciousness, I fought to go back to the somewhat blissful sleep where there was no pain or any sort of stimuli at all. But something felt different this time when I woke up. I was used to
I pushed open the door at the end of the hallway and my brain struggled to make the best decision, but Regan was not far from me and so I knew that I couldn’t waste any time. I didn’t go in direction that we had come in from on the first day because I just knew that it would be locked, instead I went through a smaller passage, trying the first door there and gasping in surprise when it opened to reveal a kitchen. There was another door at the end of that kitchen and I headed straight for that one, it was locked but the lock was just below the handle and I only had to turn it once for the door to pull open. The door led to some sort of garden but beyond that I could see the tree line that led into straight into the woods and I moved in that direction as fast as my legs could carry. In that moment, I couldn’t help but thank Nicole in my mind for the food and water that she had given me, my entire body was screaming in pain but my bones had strength in them. For a long moment, I hea
Gwaine’s POV: I flew mindlessly down the stairs in hot pursuit of my escaping prisoner, but then I bumped into the last person I expected to see, especially so late into the night. “Regan, what the hell are you doing here?” I asked frowning in genuine confusion, but when I caught the look on my Beta’s face, realization hit me. “Don’t even tell me. You? You were the one who let her out? Why? How did you even know about her?” I asked all four questions in one breath not bothering to hide my aggression and growing anger.“I didn’t want to. I was just tryi-“ He began, but just hearing him speak was causing both myself and my wolf to go crazy. I could see the blood dripping from his nose and the part looked cracked, it was obvious that my Beta had made a mistake around the girl and he had suffered for it, but that didn’t make up for the fact that he had let my prisoner escape. “You know what? Close your mouth and just fucking save it. I’ll be back for you and pray to the Goddess she d
The light seemed too bright even from my closed lids and I groaned before turning around to bury myself deeper inside the blanket. Wait? Blanket?I flipped open my eyes immediately, hissing when the bright sunlight streaming in from the large windows momentarily blinded me. I sat up on the bed but realized I couldn’t go further because my legs had been chained to the bed. I didn’t bother struggling, for one, I was still too tired to do so, I could feel every bone in my body threatening to come out and my entire muscles felt sore, two, I knew it would be a complete waste of time trying to fight against the chains and I really didn’t have the strength to, three, the events of the previous night, or rather early that morning came back flooding my mind.I leaned against the head of the bed and took a deep breath, closing my eyes as I went back into those woods running. I had never felt so scared in my life and it had truly seemed like everything was about to crash in on me. And when t
Regan! He was still alive!I couldn’t describe the happiness that surged through me or why it surged through me but I suddenly lunged out of the bed not minding the heavy chain that automatically tried to pull me back and into the man’s arms wrapping him in a big hug. “You’re alive!” I said happily, causing the man to chuckle. The sound sent a shiver down my back and the sensation forced me to release the man immediately.“Yes I am, thankfully. Good to see you alive too.” He said, with a smile painting his lips. “I’m sorry I ran away. I didn’t mean to get you into trouble with the Alpha. I just wasn’t thinking about anything when I did it, I saw an opportunity and I thought it wise to seize it not bothering to consider the consequences.” I said, my voice full of remorse. Regan patted my head gently, as if I were a child. An action that would usually have bothered me and even upset me, but maybe I was more excited to see the man than I had assumed because I didn’t seem to mind it t
