MARCO
My jaw dropped when I saw Gianna. She was a beautiful female on a normal day, but now she seemed to glow even more? How was that possible? I thought she was being held by rogues.
She was holding hands with the Alpha of Blood moon pack, one of my biggest rivals. How dare she touch another male in my presence? Helena gasped beside me and that was when I knew she had also seen her sister. It had been weeks since the rogue kidnapping had happened.
“What is she doing here? I thought she was dead!” Helena screeched in that annoying voice of hers and caught the attention of several people.
Gianna turned towards our direction, but made no indication that she had seen me. She had a calm expression on her face and refused to acknowledge my existence. That made me see red. Did she forget that she was my mate?
I ran in her direction before I composed myself enough to slow down and walk gently. When I reached her, she didn’t even look bothered. She didn’t care that I just caught her in the arms of another male.
“So you’re okay and you didn’t care to inform me?” I asked as I clenched my fists, while trying to hold back my anger.
I didn’t want to cause a scene in front of so many people that were in attendance at the event. Instead of being remorseful, her calm expression changed to one of irritation.
“You made it quite clear that you do not want me in your life. You rejected me, remember? And you left me for dead.”
“That’s not what happened.” I chuckled and tried to touch her, but she stepped back, and stared at my hand like I was carrying a contagious disease.
“That is exactly what happened. I was in danger, and I called you for help. Instead, you rejected me. You didn’t even wait to make sure I’m safe first. You left my fate in the hands of rogues, and now you want to pretend like you care?” She scoffed.
“I tried to look for you, Gianna. After the call, I realised that I was a bit harsh and tried to call back, but got no response. I also tried to get Helena to locate where they held the both of you, but she had no idea because she had been blindfolded while leaving in order to conceal the rogue’s location.” I tried to plead with her, but she just shook her head, and turned away from me.
“Sister! Oh, I’m so happy you’re alive.” Helena said as she joined us.
She moved close to Gianna, and tried to hug her, but Gianna held up her hand.
“Don’t you dare come close to me. I guess it’s true that birds of a feather flock together. The two of you are proof of that. If you truly cared about me, Helena, you would have pleaded with your parents to save me. But you were happy to leave me behind, and didn’t even look back once.”
“Oh come on. Don’t overreact. What happened was not my fault. And it’s because of this nasty attitude of yours, that’s why no one loves you. Your mate even rejected you.” Helena said and began to laugh.
Why was she trying to antagonise Gianna even more? Though the situation was a bit confusing. Why was Helena released so quickly and Gianna was left behind? The whole situation with the rogues was a bit suspicious, but I didn’t have the time to dwell on it. It was time for the gala, which was a vital part of this gathering.
Music began to play, and Alpha Vincenzo turned towards Gianna before I could speak.
“My darling, Gianna, as the host Alpha, the first dance belongs to me. So, would you do me the honour of being my partner?” He asked her with a charming smile.
I expected Gianna to turn him down. We may have our issues, but she was still mine. Instead, she smiled back at him, and took his hand. We all watched in silence as they both danced under the spotlight. Gianna was the main focus. Her gown glittered, her smile was bright, and a lot of males were in awe of her beauty.
“Who is the beautiful female dancing with Alpha Vincenzo?”
“She looks so ethereal.”
“I wonder why the Alpha hasn’t formally introduced her to the rest of us. Maybe he wants to keep her to himself.
Almost everyone present was curious about Gianna’s identity, and that made her the centre of attention.
Helena’s face was red with jealousy, and she tried to be the center of attention by forcing me to dance with her. But I only agreed to dance with her so I could get close to Gianna. I couldn’t take my eyes off Gianna throughout the dance, so as soon as she moved to the bar with the Blood moon pack Alpha, I stopped dancing with Helena.
“Why won’t you take your eyes off her? I’m more beautiful than she is.” Helena whined, and when she saw that I still wasn’t paying her attention, she marched towards Gianna.
“You thief!”
Everyone in the vicinity turned towards Helena because of her loud voice.
“The last time we went on a picnic, you stole my expensive diamond necklace. Did you really think I wouldn’t find out about it?”
“What on Earth are you talking about, Helena?” Gianna asked with a bored expression.
She lived with Helena for years, so by now, she was already used to Helena’s theatrics.
“Don’t bother trying to deny it, you tramp! You sold it, and that’s how you got money to give yourself a makeover. All of this just to get close to Alpha Vincenzo. How shameless! How else would you possibly have gotten an invite to such a prestigious gathering?”
As soon as Helena finished speaking, people began whispering. Gossip always spreads like wildfire.
“Did she really do that?”
“It might be true. I’ve never seen her at any of the previous meetings.”
“Who is she? Alpha Vincenzo never formally introduced her.”
“She must truly be shameless if she actually stole in order to gain access to this event.”
Helena smirked as she saw that her accusations were being accepted by the crowd
Bryant's POVThe place we finally ended up in after our sightseeing was a wooden bridge that I had stumbled upon in one of my excercises. It was above a shallow stream, but I found that the reflection of the moon above the stream was absolutely breathtaking, hence my decision to bring Gia here. She also seemed to like it here so I felt pleased that my plans didn't go to waste. We both leaned over the bridge and conversed and the moon grew more pronounced in the sky.My eyes were fixed on her, unable to look away as she tilted her head back and laughed out loud in a carefree manner at a joke I just told.Mesmerizing. That was the only word that came to my mind. It was like the whole world just became colorful whenever she smiled. Everything around her just paled in comparison. My heart raced within my chest so hard, I had to rub my hand over it in a bid to slow it down.To think that it had barely been a month since I met her and yet, here I was swooning over her every action. My wolf
Gianna POVThe Date“Miss Gianna, Alpha Bryant is here. He's waiting for you outside” a guard informed me after knocking and hearing the go ahead to enter.“Thank you. I'm on my way down now.” I said with a smile and the guard froze for a bit with a blush on his face.He stood there staring at me for a while and I began to feel uncomfortable. “You can go now.”He startled and his face became even redder. “Ah, yes miss. S… sorry.” He stuttered before rushing out the door.I would have found his actions cute but I was an even more nervous wreck than he was.I had changed out of my casual attire and now I was donning a knee length black colored flared dress designed with shimmering gemstones. The hand was a simple and straight style but the ends were adorned with ruffles that made the dress look both elegant and casual.I had also slapped on a bit of light make up and I was overall satisfied with my reflection in the mirror.I was nervous though. Nervous that it all seemed a bit too much
Enzo's POVPanting slightly, I shifted back into my human form and walked into the manor that I got word Bryant was residing at. I could hear Xavier's paws halt behind me as he too began shifting - his process a whole lot longer and more painful than mine as I was an Alpha - but I didn't slow down my steps nor pause. Before I left the manor, Xavier had convinced me to see reason and then he sent warriors searching every book and cranny of the pack but no good news came back. It was like Gia had disappeared from the pack so left with no other option, I came to confront the one person I was so stupid to entrust my everything to.Alpha Bryant.Once I find Gia, I swear to the Goddess that I was going to increase every bit of security I could around her. I wasn't going to limit her from doing what she wanted, as I would never pull the whole controlling psychopath act on my sister, but I was going to shadow her and if I wasn't available to, I would get my trusted people to.The crux being t
Bryant's POVMy heart pounded deep in my chest and my muscles constricted as trees blurred past. My breaths came in short pants as my long tongue hung between my snout carelessly. The air, the scents, the vibration of every movement, hit me like a storm giving me a sense of peace in the chaos.I was currently in my wolf form running through the woods. It was meant to be a means of a short exercise that had become my daily routine but it has become more than that. Asides during war or when sparring, which I haven't been opportuned to do in a while due to my busy schedule and pack matters, I haven't been able to let my wolf out in the longest while. My wolf loved this, which is why my runs never ended with just a short lap. After a while of running, I found myself standing in a clearing near the edge of a steep cliff. I exerted a bit of strain on my hind legs and then I jumped. My claws dug into the side of the cliff like it was butter - perks of having three times the strength of norma
Enzo's POV “Have you taken care of everything? Were there any loose ends?”“I've taken care of everything Alpha. I ensured that there were no loose ends at all.” Xavier replied as he stood on the other side of the desk in my study.“That's good.”I bent my head back and began skimming over the reports that had been delivered when I was out. After a while I dropped my pen and looked up at Xavier while sighing in frustration. “Sit down. Why are you standing there like a lackey.”He pursed his lips and then opened his mouth, probably to say something like “you're my Alpha or so” but I cut in immediately.“Enough with the Alpha bullshit. You know that we were friends before this whole status shit. You're my Beta mainly because you're my best friend and the only man I trust even more than myself, so sit the fuck down and help me check these reports. They're a headache to check alone.”Xavier chuckled before plopping on the chair. “You've always never been good with paperwork, have you?” H
GIANNAMoaning in discomfort, I twisted and turned as I felt my whole body burn. It felt like deep within my core molten lava was bubbling, like it wanted to get out. Sweat poured out of my glands like water and I felt sticky all over.Worse still, down from my eyelids to my limbs, everything felt very heavy as if a ton of weights had been added to me overnight. All my senses were oddly heightened and I could perceive and hear everything in three folds. My whole body was so sensitive that even the rubbing of the fabric of my quilt sent me coiling further into myself.I writhed in pain for a while before the uncomfortable feeling finally receded. Just like always. After a bit, I was able to finally sit myself up from the bed. I ran a hand through my hair with a tired sigh while staring blankly into space. I glanced at the windows that had probably been opened at a point only to note that it was almost noon. What? This was new? How long have I been sleeping?I had a biological clock tha
After what seemed like a lifetime of persuasion, she finally raised her eyes to me before nodding in affirmation.I squealed which was out of character for me, but I was quite excited to have some company after days of loneliness. I pulled her to sit besides my usual seat before digging into the food.A cute dimple appeared at the side of her face when she smiled at my actions, and I couldn't help but do a double take. She was so pretty. She had a heart shaped face and a tanned skin with freckled spotting her cheeks, creating the image of an exotic beauty. Her emerald green eyes further added to that delicate beauty look by making them look like gems. Her dark green satin dress also looked pretty fit on her curvy body. She was also no taller than my nose adding to her overall appeal.“You're quite pretty.” I complimented and I watched as the tips of her ears turned red, while she twiddled with her fingers and looked down bashfully.“Thank you Miss Gianna.” She replied softly.I spoke
GIANNA I yawned and stretched my hands and I walked down the stairs. I walked to the dining room only to find that it was empty save for the pack member that was plating my food.“Good morning. Where's Enzo?” I inquired and she jumped at the side of my voice before standing straight, her head bent in a polite bow.Seems she was so engrossed in what she was doing that she didn't hear me coming. That was the only possible explanation for me startling her. It was really hard to sneak up on a shifter, because of our enhanced senses.“He has gone out to settle some pack business. He asked that you have breakfast without him.”“Again?” I asked in exasperation. She flinched, startled at the raise of my voice, but still stayed still without looking me in the eyes.I sighed. “I'm sorry about that, ...” I trailed off while staring at her. It took a while though, but she understood my intention and squeaked out a name.“I'm Anna.” she raised her head slightly to glance at me through her lashes,
GIANNA“Where did you hear that whole engagement thing in the first place?” He inquired with an incredulous look on his face.I bit my lip in embarrassment. “From Blaire.” My voice was barely audible as I turned my face.“That delusional skank!” my head shot up immediately as I stared at him in disbelief. Was he perhaps reading my thoughts? Why were his insults so similar to mine? Whatever, that was beside the point.“I always knew that she was a bit attached to me, so I made sure to tell her that our arrangement was a non-committal one. I never expected that she would go off spreading false rumors about our so-called engagement.” He gritted out in anger. “The height of it was telling my baby sis and almost causing a fight between us. I sincerely need to show her how insignificant she is to me.”“There’s no need for that. Although her words are delusional, she didn’t cause any harm so just leave her be. She just slept with you, developed a crush and hoped for something more.” I butte
