His lips lifted in a smirk like I knew they would, and his eyes sparkled. “You need my help?” He asked, not even bothering to hide the smugness in his tone. “Never thought I'd hear such words from your mouth, little sister.”

I bit my inner cheeks hard, fighting back my remarks. This was the reason I didn't want to meet him. I knew he would mock me. I just... I had no choice. He's the only one who can help.

I closed my eyes, inhaled while asking for strength to deal with him. “It's urgent,” I said in a small voice, beating myself up for getting into a situation that made me seek his help.

If only I'd left the city back then when I had the chance, when I was yet to establish myself, it would have been bloody okay. I wouldn't have had any need to be here, looking at him, and resisting the urge to give him my best tongue lashing. I held myself back.

“I know it is.”

I ached to wipe out that smirk on his face.

“So, will you help?” I asked, sounding impatient. I didn't think our meeting would last this long. It was the longest we had been in the same room since our parents died, without me yelling obscenities at him. He never retaliated. Each time he would watch me, with his arms folded and that damned smug expression I hate the most in the entire world, on his face.

“That depends on what you will give, stepsister.” He grinned, pushing away from the table to walk to me.

I resisted the urge to take a step back. The look in his eyes was predatory. I'd seen it once, when I was in high school, and almost got my first kiss the night of our senior year prom.

He had stormed into the classroom, looking like a vengeful angel, as he ripped Paul away from me and rained punches on him until his face was almost unrecognisable. It took a scream from me to get him to let go. After that, I had stayed clear of boys because he made me understand he would kill any who touched me.

It made little sense then, and still does now. Any man who came close to me always ended up breaking all contact with me after meeting him.

The devil. My stepbrother.

I gulped when he got closer, his grin getting more pronounced. “What do I get from this, stepsis?” He asked again when I didn't say a word. He lifted his hand to touch my hair, but I flinched, drawing a step back.

“What do you want?”

He smiled at my question, but he didn't speak a word. Instead, his eyes roamed my body, from my head to my toes, before he smirked.

“I want you on your knees.”

“What?” I blinked. “What the hell do you mean by that?”

Smirking, he leaned closer until his warm breath fanned my neck. “I want you on your knees, stepsister.”

He drew back, grinned at the shocked expression on my face, and turned his back to me.

“You can't be serious, Kaelin.”

“And how do you know I'm not?” He whirled around to look at me, that smug expression still on his face. “You want my help, don't you? Then get on your damned knees first.”

Fuck him!

I gritted my teeth too hard until it felt painful.

“Why?”

“Why?” He leaned on his table and folded his arms. “You need to show your respect, little sis.”

“But —”

“If you are not ready to do it…” He gestured to the door. “The exit is that way. See yourself out, darling.”

I clenched my fists tightly, glaring at him. If I ever liked him a bit before I stepped in here, my admiration for him was now in the negative. Kaelin was still the same douche I had always known.

He knew I had no choice. He alone could help me. If he doesn't, no one else would. To keep my head on my neck and my business afloat, I swallowed my pride and got down on my knees.

Tears pricked the sides of my eyes, but I sniffed them back, refusing to let him see me lose it. It was something he wanted, and I would be damned to give that to him.

His smile got pronounced the second my knees touched the floor. “Good.” He crossed his legs and leaned back on the table. “You look good on your knees, Lylah. That position suits you.”

Fuck you!

I badly wanted to yell at them, but I bit back the retort. One day, I vowed, I would have him on his knees, begging me. I will make him experience this humiliation and more.

“I'm on my knees,” I gritted out through clenched teeth, fighting the urge to tell him my mind. “Will you help me now?”

“Of course. What do you think of me? I will help you.”

“You don't even know what I need your help with. What if it's something you can't do?”

“Impossible.” He smirked, that look grating on my damned nerves. I got this urge to rise to my feet, march over to him and slap off that complacent look on his face.

“There's nothing I can't help you with, Lylah. Nothing.”

For a split second, his expression softened, making it seem like I was looking into the eyes of a different person, before it disappeared and that almost permanent pompous smile appeared again.

“Then, I —”

He raised his hand, stopping me before I could continue. “I know why you are here and what you need. I will help you get back at George for everything he did to you. But first, you need to sign a contract with me.”

I gaped at him. “A contract? Wasn't the deal for me to kneel, and you help?” I furrowed my brows, wondering why I needed to sign a contract when I was already on my knees.

He smirked. “That's just the first. The contract will seal the deal between us.” He drew away from the table and stepped around it. He pulled open a drawer and got a file before he walked over to me and dropped it on the floor with a pen. “Sign it,” he said.

I frowned when I read the first page, stunned to see my name written alongside his. “You knew I would come over?”

“Of course. I know everything, dear sister.”

  • On Your Knees, Stepsister   Him, all along

John gulped. “Ma'am, should I—?”I lifted my palm, and he shut his mouth. Staring at Kielan being close to another woman who wasn't me made my heart squeeze tightly. Where was the man who confessed his love to me last night? Why was he close to another woman when he asked me to meet him here? Did he want me to see him being close to the same woman he claimed he didn't have any feelings for?I unclenched my fist around the phone and drew in a breath. A part of me wanted to ask John to turn back and take me to the bar, but I knew that would only prolong things between us. Wasn't it better to confront him?“Thanks for bringing me here.” I forced a smile at John before I climbed down from the car. With the forced smile on my face, I approached them. Ocean was the first to see me. The smile on her face died instantly. Kielan must have noticed something because he turned, and his eyes landed on me. I thought he would panic, but he didn't. The smile on his face widened more until it was

  • On Your Knees, Stepsister   A surprise

I confessed my love to him!!It was in the spur of the moment! My heart felt like it was ready to combust. I just said those words after I told him I didn't like him.God!Why did I sound so fucking love-sick? Who knows my expression when I confessed it?My phone dinged with a notification, and the embarrassment on my face made way to a blush when I picked it up. It was his seventh message so far, and I knew what I would see when I opened the message. Kielan: You’re beautiful, even when you’re flustered and trying to act like you don’t care.I blushed, and my cheeks heated instantly. Almost all the messages he sent went along that line. The last was, “I’ve loved you for longer than I want to admit. And hearing you say it first just made it real. I’m not letting you take it back.”I giggled, kicking my legs in the air. Even when I realised what I was doing, I didn't stop. I couldn't, not when my heart was beating loudly against my chest and my cheeks were so hot. I flopped back onto

  • On Your Knees, Stepsister   I love you

We both groaned.“Lylah,” he whispered my name like a prayer as his forehead dropped to my shoulder, his breath hot against my skin. “You feel… I can feel how ready you are. Even though—”I arched up against him, and the action made him curse under his breath.“I want you,” I said. “Kielan, I need you inside me.”He lifted his head, and his eyes found mine, and there it was again. That look. It was one of adoration, hunger, and something deeper I didn't have a name for.“Not yet,” he said. “I told you I want to take my time.”His hand slid down my body, over my ribs, down my stomach, to the waistband of my panties. His fingers slipped beneath the lace, and I held my breath as they found my pussy.“God,” he breathed. “You're so wet.”He stroked me once, and my hips bucked. My hands fisted in the sheets as his thumb found my clit, and he circled it with a pressure that was almost too light, and I whimpered.“Please.”“Please what?” He smiled innocently, like he didn't know what he was f

  • On Your Knees, Stepsister   All mine?

That night, he made love to me. It wasn't hurried. It wasn't even like the last time when he held me gently. Something changed tonight. I could tell. Hell, I could even feel it in the freaking damned air as he looked at me like I was the only one in his world. The first button gave under his thumb as he stared into my eyes. He didn't look down at what his hands were doing. His eyes stayed on mine as his thumb moved to the second button.“You're so beautiful,” he whispered. My fingers tightened as I stared into his eyes. I couldn't look away. His eyes held something I'd never seen directed at me before, something that made my stomach drop and my skin flush hot all at once.Adoration. Pure and uncomplicated. The blouse fell open another inch when he opened another button, exposing the dip between my breasts, and the lace edge of my bra. His breath caught and his jaw tightened the way it did when he was holding back.“Kielan.” His thumb found the third button, and he traced the edge wi

  • On Your Knees, Stepsister   Can I kiss you?

We stayed for a few minutes until I calmed down, then we left. “Let's take a walk,” he said the moment we left the building behind, and I agreed because, let's be real, I wanted to continue holding his hand. Ever since we left the cinema, he had been holding my hand and hadn't let go. If taking a walk was all it took for him to hold me, then I wouldn't mind walking to the ends of the earth with him. Not that I like him or anything like that. Kielan walked slowly as if, like me, he didn't want to let go. We turned a corner, and my eyes landed on a phone booth.“I haven't seen one of these in years. Would have been nice if we could take a picture,” I said, walking past it, but he tugged me back and pulled out his phone. “Get in.”“What?”“Just—” He gestured awkwardly. “Humour me.”I stepped inside and Kielan shut the door, then squeezed in beside me. It was ridiculous. The two of us folded into a space built for one, his shoulder pressed to mine. He held up his phone, and I realised

  • On Your Knees, Stepsister   A movie date

Kielan was all I could think about all day. Thoughts of him filled my mind to the point where I couldn't do anything productive, aside from staring out of the window and just smiling. Whatever he did to me must have been so potent, because I don't understand myself anymore. It felt like I had grown into a woman who had nothing to do with the Lylah who walked into his study that fateful day. Was the sex that good?Letting out a sigh, I closed my eyes. I haven't heard from Stone since that day we spoke, and I was expecting him any day now. Wait until I see that damned bastard. I'll give him a piece of my mind before I get him thrown out of my bar to feed me lies. He made me doubt Kielan, who was obviously trying to come clean to me. I opened my top drawer and smiled. I brought my gun to work because of that bastard. I'll use it and threaten him. I need to wait for him to show up before I do all I planned. Before then, I have something important to think about. The date with Kielan!
