Episode 9

"What?" Rosemary's eyes widened in shock, as well as Patrick's, since Caleb had already left the room in jealousy. It was just Patrick, Helen, and their mother, with their father laying on the bed.

Patrick was a banker and working for a commercial bank, but he hadn't expected the news of his father getting duped. So he was also shaken by the news but vowed to get the scammers arrested and brought to justice. But he acted calmly, like he was not affected by the news, and was waiting for his father to improve and give him information on how he got defrauded.

But instead, his father's health was getting worse.

"Helen, where did you find this medicine? Are you sure it will work on your father and not kill him? How are you sure that only a tablespoon of this medicine will cure your father? Who made the medicine?" Rosemary asked, her eyes filled with tears, and Helen looked at her mother, hesitating to tell them the truth.

"Mom, I do not want to tell you who made it. But the person is an expert, and he did it," she said, while a doctor rushed in.

"What's going on here? You cannot administer any medicine to the patient except the one that I prescribed," the male doctor said, as he refused to let Helen administer the drug to her father.

"Doctor, stand back. You have no right to interfere in my daughter's work. How are we sure that you haven't been tipped by my enemies to make my husband's health become worse? If anything should happen to my husband, I will have you and your entire family pay for it. Stay back!" Rosemary yelled at the doctor, and he automatically became speechless as he lost words to defend himself.

"Doctor Peter, we trusted you with my father's life. If I find out that you are poisoning him instead of treating him, then you won't get away with it," Patrick said, his voice calm but holding serious threats in it. He stood in a purple shirt and black trousers as he glared at Dr. Peter.

"What? How can I be the one to make your father's health worse? I have been administering him with the recommended stroke recovery drug, but he is getting worse."

"What do you administer my father with?" Helen asked, as she looked at Dr. Peter's face coldly.

"Um… Why should I tell you? You are not a doctor, so how will you know what I use to treat your father?" Dr. Peter stammered, his heart racing because Mr. Noah's subordinate had threatened him with his wife and children not to treat Mr. Robert. It was how dangerous the Kingston family was, and Dr. Peter didn't want to lose his wife and two children. He was a middle-aged man and had been a doctor for more than 30 years.

"Doctor," Helen said with a frown, having an uneasy feeling that Dr. Peter would have a hand in why her father was dying slowly instead of recovering faster.

"From today, you will give me the update of the drug that you administer to my father with, and ensure that your nurses write it down. Unless you will face a serious lawsuit for attempted murder," Helen said, her voice sharp and cold, and Dr. Peter gulped hard.

"Fine. It's not that we don't write the medicine that we supply to our patients. It's just that your father's case is an emergency, and that's why the nurses could have forgotten to write it," Dr. Peter said, his voice lacking confidence.

"All that aside, stand back and don't interrupt me again," Helen said, her voice full of confidence as she opened the medicine bottle. And Dr. Peter's eyes widened when he saw the Kingston's label on the bottle.

*How did Helen get her hand on that bottle? I need to call Mr. Noah immediately?*

*Did he secretly sell this medicine to Helen Robert to impersonate me and have me arrested for attempted murder? If he wanted to get Mr. Robert slowly killed, then why did he sell out the antidote?* Dr. Peter wondered, as the room fell into an awkward silence.

Five nurses were present, as they recalled that Dr. Peter hadn't given them the name of the drug that he was administering to Mr. Henry Robert. They glanced at him suspiciously, their lips sealed.

However, as Patrick helped his mother and assisted Helen to open his father's mouth—since he couldn't open his mouth by himself—Dr. Peter's sharp voice resonated in the air. "Wait! Before you give that medicine to your father, you have to sign that whatever happens to him or however his body reacts to the drugs, you both will take charges for it and face the law."

Before Helen could speak, as she wasn't sure if the medicine would cure her father or make it worse,

Mrs. Rosemary stepped forward and said, "I trust my daughter, and I believe that she will not do anything to hurt her father. The medicine will work, Helen. Give your dad the medicine."

With confidence, Helen poured a spoonful of the medicine and fed it into her father's mouth as Patrick stood beside their father's bed and pressed his jaw a little to help his weakened jaw open.

Once his father's mouth opened, Helen poured the medicine into her father's mouth, and he gulped it down.

As soon as Mr. Henry Robert gulped down the medicine, the room fell into silence as everyone's eyes fixed on him to see his body.

His body started sweating, and his entire body spasmed seriously on the bed.

"Dad!" Helen covered the bottle and rushed to hold her father's hand. She was scared and losing confidence. She didn't want to be the cause of her father's death. She didn't even ask for proof to see the lab rat that the potent medicine had cured. How could she use her father for an experiment?

Helen was crying, but her father miraculously spoke to her, "Helen, is everything alright? When did you get back from the university?"

"Dad!" Helen squealed, her voice choked with happiness, as she couldn't believe that her father was fine now and he could talk, compared to how weak he was a few minutes ago. He was able to talk and breathe, and Dr. Peter's eyes widened in shock, as well as the other nurses in the room.

"Oh my goodness! Unbelievable! This is the potent medicine that is sold only by the Kingston Pharmaceutical for a million dollars! How did Helen get her hand on it?" The nurses muttered amongst themselves, and Helen's cheeks flushed.

She didn't have a million dollars to pay for the medicine. So Samuel Kingston was the prodigy that they were all looking forward to meeting, whom the lecturers kept talking about. But they never let them know that it was Samuel.

"Helen, how did you get this drug? Do you know the student that created it? We must thank the person personally," Patrick said, as he looked at his younger sister tenderly, even though he was ten years older than her.

Helen's cheeks flushed scarlet as she remembered how Samuel had held her hand back and pulled her to his chest. She coughed, unable to say the truth, as she remembered how she had slapped Samuel for daring to hold her hand.

"I am sorry, Brother Patrick. Chancellor Katherine warned that I shouldn't divulge the student's information. It's a secret. What matters now is that Dad is fine," Helen said, and her mother came to hug her happily.

"You helped save your father's life. We only wanted to thank this student. If not for the person's help, your father would have been dead by now," Rosemary said, and Helen smiled sadly.

"I wish I knew, but I don't know," Helen denied, looking away from her mother's face as her lips trembled.

Rosemary had a feeling that her daughter didn't want to tell her who the student was, but seeing the reporters that had hurried to know more about the miraculous medicine, she smiled and said, "It's fine. What matters is that you saved your father. You're our precious baby girl."

"Mom, where's Dad?" Ruth asked as she walked up to the dining table to meet her mother."He went upstairs. You should go and call him," Stacey said as she set up the dinner around the table."Alright, Mom," Ruth replied happily as she darted back to the stairs and went to the top floor to call her father. Her loud voice resonated in the mansion."Dad, dinner is ready!" Ruth shouted, her voice echoing on the top floor. Meanwhile, Stacey walked out of the kitchen after she was done setting up dinner. She walked up to meet her husband and asked him, "Honey, aren't you being too harsh and judgmental on Samuel? I asked him why he helped the Roberts' family heiress, and he said that he just helped her because she is more intelligent than him and the one who scored the highest in his department.""And you believe him? This explains to you why you should warn him to stay away from that family. Mr. Henry Roberts has fine medicines, even if they don't work as actively as ours; they are still potent and sold at a cheaper rate. I have warned Samuel. If I get to find out that he is dating that Roberts' daughter, I will deal with her on my own.""Honey, you will not commit any crime. What will you do to her?" Stacey looked at her husband worriedly."That's left for me to do. Just warn Samuel not to disclose our business to other families. I am not stopping him from continuing his studies because he needs the cer

Stacey breathed out heavily and replied, "That's fine. You should stay away from Helen and don't have anything to do with her. I do not like her, and I will not approve of your affair with her. She is too chubby and will get old easily."Samuel's eyes widened in surprise as he picked up an apron to tie around his neck, but his mother stopped him."What are you trying to do? You just got back from the university, and you're tying the apron. Don't worry; I will make dinner alone," Stacey said, her hand reaching to stop Samuel from tying the apron."You should go and have your bath upstairs. I will make dinner alone," Stacey said, her voice soft, but Samuel shook his head and replied, "No, Mom. I want to help you. I want to learn how to cook so that I can cook for my wife in the future."Stacey's eyes widened in shock at Samuel's statement. She smiled and replied, "Alright. But definitely not that chubby girl from the Roberts family."Samuel smiled as his hands reached for the apron agai

"Dad, all that aside, where do we get the money to pay up the 50 million dollars that you lost, and who is the man that scammed you? You need to help the police with their investigation," Patrick said, as he had already hired two security men to stand by his father's hospital room door."You're right. I will give you all his information after I am done eating," Mr. Henry replied, while Patrick sighed with relief.Helen was famished, so she went to sit down on the chair that her mother had stood up from."Mom, why were brothers Paul, Zion, and Caleb mad at me when I arrived earlier?" Helen's heart softened under her mother's warm embrace. She hadn't expected that her father would automatically recover and even be able to talk and move his hands and legs on his own—something that he had not been able to do on his own before."Helen, do you have anything to say to the media? What university did you study with? Is it the well-known renowned University of Science in this city?" An interviewer asked, and Helen got to realize that it was because her father's company went bankrupt, and it was announced on the news that he was owing hundreds of workers' salaries. Not just that, some other hospitals that he was supposed to supply his medicine to, he failed to meet up with the supply. But now that he had been miraculously cured, they hoped that Helen would take over Roberts Pharmaceutical and distribute the medicine to other hospitals with other stroke victims too."Miss Helen!
