I pursed my lips as I watched Adrien sit on the couch, his arms resting on the backrest and his eyes closed. He looked tired and stressed, clearly annoyed because of me.

I took my bag off my shoulder and placed it on the couch beside him. Then I stood behind him, hesitating if I should bother him or just leave him alone.

I tried tapping him, but he didn’t react.

My attention shifted to the groceries we bought earlier that he left near the door. I decided to bring them to the kitchen inste

I groaned softly as I slowly woke up. I was lying face-down on the bed, my hair messy from sleep. I stretched my arm to the side, trying to reach Catherina, my fingers blindly searching across the sheets. But she wasn’t there. My hand touched nothing but the empty bed, the sheets already cold. I frowned and slowly opened my sleepy eyes. Right. I was at the resort. God, I miss my baby. A faint ache settled in my chest at the thought of her. The quietness of the room suddenly felt heavier than it should have. I rubbed my eyes and rolled onto my back. I covered my face when the sunlight streaming from the balcony hit my eyes. I must have forgotten to close the curtains. I was about to get up and close them so I could go back to sleep when the sunlight suddenly disappeared. The sound of curtains sliding shut followed. I turned toward the balcony. The sleepiness instantly vanished when I saw Adrien standing there. He was leaning against the glass door of the balcony

It was quite a walk back to the hotel. I carried my body bag and carefully held the plastic bag containing the foods I prepared. When I reached the entrance, I walked upstairs and entered the lobby. “Good afternoon!” I greeted brightly as I approached the reception desk where Aljun and Inna were standing. “Good afternoon, Ma’am Cassandra!” Aljun greeted immediately with his usual cheerful energy. “Are you done cooking already?” I raised an eyebrow, surprised. “Wait… how did you know I cooked?” “Sir Adrien passed by earlier,” Aljun said casually. “He told us not to have lunch because you were cooking for us.” My eyes widened in shock. I quickly covered my mouth and turned to look at the large clock hanging on the wall. “But it’s already two in the afternoon!” I exclaimed. “Oh my God, I’m so sorry! You must be starving. I didn’t know he told you to wait!” I hurried over to the waiting area across the reception desk and placed the food containers, plates, and utensils on

My attention shifted to the groceries we bought earlier that he left near the door. I decided to bring them to the kitchen instead. Only then did I remember that I needed ingredients if I wanted to cook. We had spent almost an hour buying them from a grocery store outside the resort and walked there and back. Adrien even asked some staff to bring unused cooking tools and equipment from the hotel to the beach house, which also took some time. I never told him to do all that. I wouldn’t have insisted if I knew it was gonna be a hassle. When I returned to the living room, he was still in the same position. I played wi

I stepped out of the elevator wearing a white off-shoulder fitted dress with a light overlay and a pair of blue crossed sandals. My hair was braided in a fishtail over my right shoulder. Around my neck was the silver necklace Shawn gave me for my birthday last year, the pendant shaped like my name written in elegant script. I kept my makeup simple and I carried a small body bag with me for my essentials. My belongings had arrived yesterday afternoon. Thankfully, the clothes Nay Mariella packed for me were beautiful. She was one of the house helpers back at the house in Manila. I smiled when I saw the staffs at the reception desk working professionally. The bellboys were busy carrying the luggage of a newly arrived guest who had pulled up in a shiny red car. I approached and leaned casually against the counter. Aljun and Inna were behind it, looking neat and welcoming. “Good morning, everyone!” I greeted brightly. “Good morning, Ma’am Cassandra,” Aljun said cheerfully, fl

“Sir Adrien, good morning!” the woman behind the desk greeted politely, her voice bright with professionalism. The man beside her quickly echoed the greeting as well. Adrien only gave them a brief nod before turning to me. With a small gesture of his hand, he motioned for me to come closer. “Ma’am Cassandra!” the man suddenly called my name, his voice filled with surprise. I looked at him carefully, and my eyes widened in realization. “Wait… Aljur, right?” I asked, excitement slipping into my voice. The smile on his face instantly disappeared. He pouted dramatically, looking almost wounded. “Aljun, Ma’am Cassandra,” he corrected with an exaggerated hand on his heart. “You forgot me already? That hurts.” I covered my mouth and gasped. “Aljun! Oh my gosh, you’re right—I remember you now. You’re still working as a receptionist here?” “Of course I am,” he said proudly, puffing his chest slightly. “The salary here is good, why would I leave? Besides…” His eyes scanned me

Adrien's eyes lowered to my lips. Without realizing it, I looked at his, too. I couldn’t help admiring his face again. Almost every part of his features looked perfectly carved. He looked gentle and kind at first glance, then intimidatingly attractive when you look at him longer. His expression was just the problem. “I think I prefer that color on you,” he said quietly. “H-huh?” I looked confused. Then I realized his attention was still on my lips. “Um… I’m not wearing any lipstick,” I said awkwardly. “These are just my natural lips.” “Really?” he asked, sounding slightly surprised. “Then I was right. It suits you much better.” “Oh?” I teased with a playful smile, lightly moistening my lips. “So… does that make them kissable?” The corner of his mouth lifted slightly. His eyes seemed amused as he watched the movement of my lips. A moment later, he looked into my eyes again before gently pushing me aside so he could pass. “Are you staying here?” he asked casually as he
