George
The moment Alice hit the ground, Thomas’s men lunged for the kid. But there was no way I was letting that happen… not on my watch.
With a single sharp signal, my guards surged forward, caught them off guard, and snatched the child back in one clean move.
When the dust had finally settled, Thomas’s men were sprawled across the floor, bleeding out and barely moving. Thomas just stood there, staring at the scene in stunned silence until his eyes finally locked onto mine.
“You just declared war on yourself, kid,” he said, his voice low and venomous, his jaw clenched so tight I could see the muscle twitch. “Better get ready… because you’re about to dance to the tune of my song.”
I didn't pay attention to him, let alone say a word to him. I crouched towards Alice quickly, who was now bleeding thoroughly from her hand, swiftly wrapping my arm under her head to help her up.
“Get the door!” I yelled as I pulled her to her feet, gesturing to the guards. They swung forward at once, yanking the doors open as fast as possible.
By now, Leo had already been tucked into the car, still trembling and gasping from the shock of everything that just happened.
My gaze traveled towards him briefly as I laid Alice gently into the car. “You okay, buddy?”
He glanced at me, then at Alice who's eyes were just half open. “Mommy!” He threw his arms around her, sobbing right into her body. “Mom, are you okay?”
“Y…y..e..s,” she managed to mutter through a muffled breath, stroking his hair slowly.
“Okay, kiddo, mom needs some rest, alright? But first, we need to get her to the hospital.” I said firmly, catching his reflection in the rearview mirror.
“I’m coming with her!” Leo shouted, his voice rising with panic and determination. It was obvious his mind was already made up.
At first, the thought of bringing him along worried me. But when I met his gaze and saw the stubborn determination burning in his eyes, I found myself unable to refuse.
“Alright,” I sighed. “You’re coming with us.”
Still watching him through the mirror, I noticed his face brighten… just slightly… before worry and fear crept back into his eyes.
“Is mommy going to be okay?” he asked softly.
The question caught me completely off guard. I turned around to look at him, then forced a small smile, hiding the panic clawing at my chest.
“Of course,” I said gently. “She’ll be fine. The doctors at the hospital will take good care of her.”
He nodded, glancing at me briefly before his eyes returned to Alice.
Within minutes, we pulled into the hospital. The emergency team rushed towards us the moment I explained the situation. Alice was lifted onto a stretcher and wheeled swiftly into the emergency ward.
Leo immediately tried to follow them, but I stopped him.
“You can’t go in there, kid. We need to let the doctors and nurses do their job, okay?”
He stared up at me, clearly unhappy.
“But she’s my mom,” he insisted. “I should be with her. I should stay by her side.”
“I know,” I said softly, crouching down and taking his hands in mine. “I understand you. But mommy’s in a critical condition right now, and you going in could distract the doctors. Trust me… I’ll take you to see her as soon as she wakes up, okay?”
He didn’t reply. He just stared at me, as though my words sounded strange.
I pulled him into my arms and held him for a long moment.
“Mommy will be fine,” I murmured. “You don’t have anything to worry about.”
He nodded slowly, finally relaxing against me.
A few minutes later, a nurse approached, holding a file.
“Sir, we need you urgently,” she said, pressing it into my hands.
Leo jumped to his feet immediately, fixing her with a sharp stare.
“Is my mommy awake? Can I see her now?”
“Oh no, sweetheart, you can’t…”
“It’s alright,” the nurse interrupted gently, smiling at him. “He can come with you. The room at the far left.”
The moment she walked away, I stood up, gripping Leo’s small hand as we hurried towards Alice’s ward.
When I pushed the door open, my chest tightened. She lay there, fragile and pale, looking so weak it felt like the air had been knocked from her lungs.
Before I could react, Leo slipped free and ran straight to her bed.
“Mommy!” he cried, throwing his arms around her. “I’m so happy you’re awake!”
I approached slowly, my eyes scanning her as though searching for injuries I might have missed.
She hugged Leo tightly and kissed his forehead, then lifted her head… and that was when her eyes met mine.
In that instant, something stirred inside me. Something unfamiliar. Something I hadn’t felt in a very long time.
Despite how frail she looked, I couldn’t ignore how undeniably beautiful she was.
“G… George?” she whispered weakly. “What happened to me? Where am I?”
I moved closer, gently steadying her as she tried to sit up.
“Hey, hey… easy,” I said. “You need to rest.”
Before I could say anything else, a nurse walked into the room holding a bouquet of flowers. My heart skipped as she approached.
“You have a package, ma’am,” she said, placing the bouquet beside Alice’s bed before leaving.
I picked it up, then froze when I noticed the note tucked inside.
See you soon at the gala.
Thank you for sticking by, dear amazing readers. It has been such a long and busy month for me, hence the slow updates. But I promise, more frequent updates this February. Happy New Month!!🥰

Chapter 18Alice The day after I saw that disastrous headline was supposed to be a happy one for Leo. His school had planned a museum field trip… something he’d been talking about for weeks. But I let my instincts get the better part of me. I could no longer trust the school to keep him safe. Not after everything. If anything happened to him, I wouldn’t survive the guilt. I had to take him myself.“I’ll take him to the museum,” I told George as we prepared to leave that morning. He froze, his expression shifting to stunned concern. “Why?” His brows pulled together in confusion. “I thought the school provided a bus to take the kids there and back.”“I know,” I replied with a nod.“Then why insist on stressing yourself out like this?”“I’m not stressing myself, George!” I snapped, my temper flaring before I could stop it. “Leo is my son—my responsibility. If anything happens to him, I’ll never forgive myself. And I won’t forgive you either.”That ended the discussion.George didn’t ar
Chapter 17~Thomas~"I'm beyond disappointed in you, Sam," I snapped, my voice thunderous as I ran a hand furiously through my hair. "I gave you one simple task, and once again, you failed… miserably!"My anger burned hot enough to set the whole place ablaze. I had just arrived in the country, expecting to walk in and see the boy here. Instead, I come home to find out the mission was a complete disaster. How hard could it be to catch a damn child?Samantha dropped to her knees, tears streaming down her cheeks as she begged for forgiveness… but I didn’t want to hear it. “You know what? I’m done with this conversation. Get out of my house.”Her eyes widened in disbelief. “No, Thom, please… just hear me out.”She crawled towards me, desperation written all over her face, but I stepped back coldly before she could reach me.“I won’t say it again. Leave… or I’ll have the guards drag you out.”She stood up slowly, lifting her eyes to mine. Then, without another word, she turned and walked o
Chapter 16 George Alice stood frozen, her eyes locked on mine like she was trying to fix a puzzle. Then, without a word, she turned away… her back to me… as tears broke free from her eyes. “I've had enough humiliation,” she whispered, her voice shaking through her sniffles. “I… I just can’t anymore.” She turned back around, meeting my gaze, her face streaked with sweat and tears. “Can’t you see, George? My entire empire is hanging by a thread… My name is falling apart because of this same scandal. I don’t have the strength for more drama. I’m barely holding on.” “I get it, Alice. I truly do.” I reached out, gently taking her hands in mine, our faces just inches apart. “I understand everything you're feeling. But you need to give yourself a little grace. Trust me... your empire will survive this. You will survive this.” “But how, George?” she whispered, her voice cracking. “I'm watching everything I built fall apart.” “I know,” I said quickly, pulling her closer. “But you won’t
Chapter 15 George My grip tightened around the letter the moment Maria mentioned Leo’s name. My hands trembled as I scanned the words, my heart pounding. ‘Happy early birthday, Leo. Three weeks left. Enjoy the peace while it lasts.’The message hit me like a blow to the chest. For a long second, I just stared at the words, unable to look away. When the shock finally wore off, I sat up abruptly… and only then did I notice Maria was still standing quietly across the room, watching me. She furrowed her brows slightly, sensing the shift in my mood. “Is everything alright, sir?” I forced a calm nod, masking the storm building in my chest. “It’s nothing I can’t handle. Thanks for bringing this. You can go now.” She hesitated, like she wanted to say more, but eventually gave a slow nod and turned to leave. Just as her hand reached the doorknob, I spoke again… my voice sharper this time. “Maria.” She turned back immediately. “From now on, make sure Leo’s room is heavily
Chapter 14George The moment my lips touched hers, something deep within me shifted… a feeling I had spent so long trying to bury, to forget. But forgetting her? That was impossible.Every attempt to stay away, every reminder that I shouldn't want her, only drew me in closer. The harder I pushed her away, the stronger the pull became. The feelings just wouldn't let go.And now, given the chance to finally protect her, I wouldn’t hesitate. I’d give everything I had to keep her safe… even if it meant waging war against my own father.I pulled her gently from the embrace, letting our eyes lock in the thick heat of the moment.I held her hands firmly, like a commander ready to lay down the plan. Her eyes flickered with rising fear, her hands trembling softly beneath mine.“It’s okay, Alice. I’m here now,” I whispered, my gaze sweeping over her fragile frame. “You don’t have to be afraid anymore. I’m not going anywhere… not until all this is over. I promise.”She lifted her head slowly, h
