LOGINChapter 3
Alice
He signed the papers without protest. Then he threw them back at me, his eyes burning with rage. “You'll regret this Alice. You're nothing without me!”
“We'll see to that.” I said quietly, shooting them one final glance before making my way out.
Samantha's voice echoed behind me as I left… thick with mockery. “Goodbye, Alice. Don’t come crawling back when your pathetic little savings begin to fail you!”
Her words stirred something inside me, but I didn't look back. I had long made up my mind to leave for good… I couldn't stop now.
I booked a cab quickly as soon as I stepped out of the room.
As the car took off, I made a promise to myself never to return to Thomas's house. I was never going to spend one more night there… and that begins tonight.
When the car pulled up at the hotel I had planned to spend the night in, I stepped out and walked straight into the building.
The place was grand and quiet… the exact kind of serenity I needed at this moment.
The receptionist greeted me with a warm smile, treating me like I was a special guest. I didn’t understand why, but I didn't care either.
“Come with me, ma’am. I’ll take you to your room,” she said, leading the way.
I nodded and followed her, my heart pounding with each step.
We reached the last door at the end of the hallway, with bold letters that read VIP, and she stopped.
I froze.
VIP? This had to be a mistake. I couldn’t afford anything close to that.
The woman noticed my hesitation and smiled. “Don’t worry, Mrs. Brooks. It’s all taken care of.”
My chest tightened. Taken care of? By who? And how did she know my name?
Before I could speak, she pressed a key card into my hand. “This unlocks your room. Have a pleasant stay.”
She turned and walked off, her heels clicking down the hallway, leaving me there, confused… and a little bit scared.
I stood there, gripping the card in my hand, her words ringing in my head like an endless drum.
Fear gnawed at me as I glanced at the card one last time, but I shook it off and slid the card into the slot anyway. The door swung open… and I froze at the magnificence of the room.
A massive chandelier gleamed at the center of the ceiling, lighting the space with a soft… rich glow.
I sank onto the king‑sized bed, my cheeks flushing with a strange mix of relief and excitement.
Finally, a moment of peace after all the chaos I had endured all these years.
My eyes drifted to the minibar in the corner. I got up, walked towards it, and poured myself a glass of tequila, gulping it down without a second thought.
Just then, the door burst open with a loud thud, startling me to my feet.
I dropped the glass with shaky hands, my heart slamming heavily in my chest. Two men in black suits stormed in, their faces grim.
They charged towards me fiercely, and grabbed my arms. My struggles to break free from their grip were all useless.
“Who are you… ” My words died as one of the men clamped his large palm over my mouth.
“Shut the fuck up, Alice!” he hissed, venom dripping from his voice.
They pushed the door open and began to drag me out when a sharp, deafening sound thundered through the room, knocking them off their feet.
I clamped my hands over my ears, my head dropping low as gunfire echoed through the air.
Moments later, silence returned. I opened my eyes, my legs shaking with terror.
My heart nearly exploded when I saw the two men sprawled on the floor… lifeless, their blood staining the tiles.
Then I heard footsteps. I raised my gaze slowly, and I saw him… he was tall, dressed in a brown suit, his hair falling messily across his face, his jaw sculpted perfectly like a statue.
He looked too familiar… yet I couldn’t place him. My legs wobbled beneath me; the alcohol hit hard now.
But before I could reach the ground, he caught me, holding me steady in his arms. His eyes studied mine calmly as he laid me gently on the bed.
“You should rest,” he said and turned away.
But I caught his hand before he could go any further. I tugged him back until his body pressed against mine, my arms sliding up to lock around his neck.
“No,” I breathed, my voice shaky and raw against his skin. “I don’t want rest… I want you.”
His eyes narrowed, a flash of surprise crossing his face. "Are you sure about this, Alice?"
The sound of my name on his lips made me freeze.
I had no idea he knew who I was. But right then, it didn’t matter. Nothing else mattered except the urge to feel him against me… deep inside me.
I nodded, closing the last bit of space between us. He met me halfway, and his mouth claimed mine in a kiss that stole my breath, his hands sliding across my waist, firm and possessive.
In one smooth motion he lowered me onto the bed, his hands cupping my breasts, his thumbs brushing over my nipples until they hardened under his touch.
A helpless moan tore from my lips as I kissed him back, desperate… drowning in him.
His fingers tightened gently around my throat… just enough pressure to make my heart race faster.
For a brief moment, he lifted his head, his eyes locked onto mine with a quiet intensity.
Then, without a word, he tore the cap sleeves of my dress off my shoulders, his breath fanning my face.
His fingers trailed along my curves, sending a jolt of electricity running down my spine.
Then he lowered his head towards my breast… but the moment his mouth closed over my nipple, his phone lit up with a message that made him freeze.
Chapter 49George His eyes widened in shock the moment he saw the police. But he didn’t stop struggling. He kept twisting and pulling against the ropes, letting out a deep, desperate groan as he fought with everything he had.He barely moved an inch before the officers closed in around him. They quickly untied the ropes, then pulled his arms behind his back and snapped the handcuffs on.As they dragged him towards the police van, he turned his head and locked eyes with me for a split second. Pure fury burned in his gaze… raw, deadly anger. It was a look that felt stronger than words. But I didn’t care. He could rot in jail for all I care.Samantha was seized too. Both of them were shoved into the van and the doors shut with a loud thud.I gave the officers a small nod and walked back inside the house. For the first time in years, I felt a heavy weight lift off my shoulders. Thomas wouldn’t be here with his empty threats anymore. And At last, Alice and I could finally have the peace w
Chapter 48GeorgeI didn’t know how to tell them… especially Alice. Not now, when her smile had finally returned because she still believed Leo was alive.Breaking the news that he was suddenly dead would crush her all over again. But the way she was looking at me… with that deep curiosity and quiet fear in her eyes… I could tell she needed to hear the truth. She needed to hear it all.“George, come on, say something,” Brian said, his voice tight with impatience. “You’re freaking us out.”I had no choice anymore. I needed to speak, or they might as well assume I'd lost my mind.“Leo…” My voice broke as soon as I said his name, and fresh tears rolled down my face.Alice moved closer, her eyes filled with worry. “George, what’s wrong? What happened to Leo?”Seeing her like that, so restless and anxious, I couldn’t bear to watch her break. I reached out and took her hands in mine, holding them tightly, as if that could somehow protect her from the pain I was about to unleash.“Alice,” I
Chapter 47 AliceI started marching towards Aunt Sam again, but George didn’t give me a chance. His hand caught mine quickly and he pulled me back gently. He let out a slow breath and drew me closer. “Alice, listen to me… we can’t be caught doing this. We agreed to let the police handle them, remember?”I blinked back the surge of anger rising inside me and met his gaze. He was right. We had agreed earlier that as soon as Thomas and Brandy were awake, we would alert the police. I had accepted the plan without any argument. But right now, all of that felt impossible. My mind kept screaming one thing… grab Samantha and make her feel the same pain she caused me.George noticed the hesitation in my eyes. He held my hand tighter, refusing to let go.“Okay, fine,” I muttered, quietly pulling my hand from his grip. “I’ve heard you. I’ll let the police deal with her. But first, she has to pay back all she stole from the company.”“Definitely,” he replied, his eyes still searching mine. “You
Chapter 46 Alice My ears perked up, and now, my full attention was on her. “What are you talking about?”“I know it might sound crazy,” she said, “but there’s only one person behind all of this… the sabotage, the lies, the attempt to steal from the company.”I looked her dead in the eye, as if I could pull the words right out of her. “Who?”She glanced around nervously, like she was trying to make sure no one could hear. “It’s your aunt… Samantha.”The moment I heard that name, it felt like someone had jabbed me hard. Anger coursed through my veins, and all I could think of was to jump into the car and strangle her.All this while, I had been sure Thomas was the one behind everything. I never once suspected Aunt Sam… even though I had always hated her.I took a deep breath and tried to hide the rage burning through my face. “How do you know this?”“Nolan…” Evelyn said, her voice tight. “One of the staff overheard him on a phone call with her. They heard him call Samantha’s name.”
Chapter 45 Alice “No, no, Alice, please don’t do it,” Aunt Sam begged. The desperation in her voice was clear.Watching her plead like that gave me a silent thrill. A strange sense of satisfaction.“Too late, Aunt Sam,” I said quietly. Her voice grew louder and more frantic. Tears filled her eyes now. “I promise I’ll make it up to you. Just… don’t do this, please.”I should have listened. I should have felt something when I heard the fear in her voice. But I didn’t. Not after everything she had done to me.My mind was already made up… not until she said something that made me stop cold. “Your son, Leo… he’s still alive.”My legs went numb. I turned to her, staring at her in disbelief.“What… did you just say?”“It’s true,” she said through a quiet sob. “He was never dead. Thomas faked it all so he could keep the boy all to himself.”She sounded so firm I had no doubt she wasn't lying. This couldn't be a joke.George and I exchanged quiet glances, both of us confused and shocked.“
Chapter 44Alice Once I was sure Thomas was completely out, I grabbed the phone and dialed George quickly.“It's done,” I said as soon as the call connected.“Great job, Alice,” he replied. I could hear the pride in his voice. “Keep watching him. We’ll be there in a few minutes.” I slipped the phone back where it had been and kept my eyes fixed on Thomas. Just then, the door creaked open. I turned around, half expecting to see George walk in. But it wasn’t him. It was Aunt Sam. She wasn't smiling this time. Her face twisted into a cold glare as she turned to me. “You think I don't know what you're planning?” she asked, walking slowly towards me with her hands clasped behind her back. “You really think you can drug him and just walk out of here like that?” For a moment, the ground felt cold under my feet. My legs trembled as I took some steps back away from her, but she kept coming, faster now. “Oh, Alice,” she said with a cold little smile. “You’ve really got some nerve
Chapter 16 George Alice stood frozen, her eyes locked on mine like she was trying to fix a puzzle. Then, without a word, she turned away… her back to me… as tears broke free from her eyes. “I've had enough humiliation,” she whispered, her voice shaking through her sniffles. “I… I just can’t any
Chapter 13Alice I rushed into the living room, my heart pounding… and just like George said, Leo was safe. He was a little shaken, but unharmed. He sat on the couch, wide-eyed and clutching a pillow, looking both scared and confused. The minute he spotted me, he jumped up and ran straight into my
Chapter 14George The moment my lips touched hers, something deep within me shifted… a feeling I had spent so long trying to bury, to forget. But forgetting her? That was impossible.Every attempt to stay away, every reminder that I shouldn't want her, only drew me in closer. The harder I pushed h
Chapter 11George My heart thudded so hard it felt like it might punch through my ribs. I drew in a deep breath, trying to steady myself despite the storm burning in my chest.“What’s the development?” I asked, my voice low but tense, barely able to hold back the panic brewing in my mind.Zach’s v
